Such behaviour is hardly restricted to one side of politics. The Allowance for staying in Canberra has been developed into quite a sophisticated and lubricative rort by Politicians across the political spectrum for quite some time. There is a feeling and belief amongst politicians that they are under paid and they have voted themselves large benefits over the years rather than salary rises.

I take it you don't approve of honesty in politicians it would seem?

Anyone that works claims expenses for attending work related events. It's all completedly above board. Wherever and whenever the PM goes he's pretty much on duty anyway.
