It is logically true that when the GDP isn't growing then if one part of the economy [the 1%] successively gains more income, then some other part of the economy will be losing income. [This is because GDP measures spending and my spending becomes your income holds true for every person and corp.]

Since, the 1% want more income and have the power to see that they get it, it follows that if the GDP isn't growing; then the lower half of the nation will see a falling income. Since, everyone wants a growing income and hate a falling income, it follows that if the GDP isn't growing and the 1% have a growing income; then the lower half will hate that situation.
. . . It then follows that the lower half will act to make their anger felt by the nation overall. "Felt" as in understood and acknowledged.
. . . This is what is being seen in France today.

IMHO, this is why Trump won. The lower half of America are angry for the above reason and Trump promised to do something about it. He was lying, but that doesn't change the way and reason that he got the votes he needed to win.

Clearly, this anger is spreading worldwide.
The rich own the mass media so we see a blackout.
However, the internet allows the truth to be seen everywhere.
The rich can't close down the internet because they use it too much to increase their income.
They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The pitch forks and torches may soon be coming out.
If they lose control of the US and the EU then there is nowhere on Earth they can hide, because the US can invade every where. Except Russia and China. The 1% can't move to China and maybe not Russia either.
I expect to see the 1% do horrible things to hold onto power in the US.
