Perhaps our ancestors' genes compel IndoEuropeans to seek governmental union. Caesar, Genghiz Khan, Napoleon, Hitler and Stalin may have manifested their genetic impulse for the Brahmins' idea of Mount Meru. This is the mythic central world-mountain of governance under Brahma, Shiva and Indra, and perceived as being in the Pamirs, north of Afghanistan. It was built as Angkor Wat in Cambodia for the Jayavarman "universal ruler", from Scythian-Greek Punjab in India. The Scythian dragon ancestor is the same as the Celts', and Druids in France advised Druids in Asia Minor not to support a Syrian attack on Greeks there, 197 BCE. Early political cohesion in barbarian Europe is matched by apparent religious practice of some Brahmin teachings across north Eurasia. Wales, Scotland and England today have vestiges of the Brahmin dragon and clergy robe traditions. Is the EU doomed to success?

In short, no.

If you look at those leaders whose names you listed off, what are the two things that make them stand out? First, they were dictators. Second, they failed.

I don't think a federal Europe is natural, necessary or wanted. Different cultures have evolved in different ways throughout Europe for a reason. No matter how hard a central polity tries, it can't trammel over hundreds, even thousands of years of history and tradition. The Soviet Union surely proved that.

It's not necessary because all this talk about common foreign policies and Europe's role in the world is nonsense. What effective foreign policy can the EU demonstrate? The fact is European countries see the world in different ways. Britain is an island nation and consequently was removed from much of the infighting over the years, and was able to look at the world beyond in a far more sustainable way. France is very patriotic to the point of being protectionist, and puts its interests first - and fair enough. The Eastern European nations are fearful of Russian dominance and want to be welcomed by Europe, but they've fought long and hard for their independence and culture - they don't want to move from one uniformed centralist state to another.

And it's not wanted because I think most people want their country's independence. They value it, they value the identity it gives them. We naturally incline to that with which we share characteristics, and the nation-state is the highest interpretation of that (in the twenty first century).

So no, I don't think the EU, as it stands, is tenable. It's too messed up, too misguided, too weak and yet at the same time too ambitious.

Ash,
The world language indicates the energy of English rule and at one point, Thailand and Japan were about the only kingdoms not dominated by Europeans. An aspiration is not readily achieved, but the evidence is there of the concept and motivation. The Brahmins were religious advisers to kings, as in Thailand and Cambodia today (and tenuously in India). The religious area has a stronger example, as barbarian Europe had "Danu" river-god of Brahmins in DNiester, DNieper, DON and DANUbe rivers, and DANAan gods of Eire. "Meru" mountain is seen in Norse Maere temple, Saxon "maer God", "Merovingian" "majo.dome mairie" as town-hall of mayor, and Mhor goddess of Eire.
The Brahmin "chamara" regalia is seen in bishops' chimere worn at the dragon chapel at Windsor, and at Westminster (Abbey and Lords) which have the Brahmin Meru architecture of central spire amid 4 corner pinnacles, as at Angkor Wat.
This feature of Catholic steeples is seen across Europe-Russia, as well as world-wide from the Vatican. "Wat" and "Vatican" and Druid "Ovate" have the same origin, "wat" meaning "inspire". Effectively, the Westminsters are halls of Druids.

Until Hitler's tanks rolled in, the Polish cavalry nobility claimed to descend from Scythians. Those had reached the Russian Ural mountains and Biskupin in Poland 500 BCE. They were an Iranian tribe with Kambojas who ruled "Cambodia", and carried the Danu goddess religion to Europe. Probably from them came the Russian /Polish/Swedish "bram" meaning "pomp. state. high", as in Brahmin god "Brahma" meaning "expand.praise", and Saxon "maer God". The EU idea is part of Poland's culture and ancestry and bowels.

LOL, that's idiotic, you are gathering some fantasy stories with pseudo-scientific theories discredited already in XIX century. You can claim as well Canals exist on Mars, Earth is hollow and that Bismarck is a Serb.
But lets not drift away from subject, my bowels are full of gratitude towards EU, is there a toilet paper with EU sign ?

Which points exactly are wrong?
Proto-Slavonic originsAn example of this type of construction can be found in Biskupin (8th ... Poland became the target of raids by Scythian and Sarmatian tribes from the east, ...

It is fairly definite that Scythians brought their own "Skythe" brand toilet-paper.

yes, there will be. these countries are very similar and the populations that are in each are the same as well. so yes, there will always be a connection amongst the core European countries. now, you must include the US in w/ that.

The EU flag is from the Scythian burial custom. A dead chief was buried in the center of a ring of dead horse-men on dead horses (all propped up on poles).(Not Poles). This is the shape of US wagons in a circle with horse-men riding the ring.(propped up by rifles...).So side-shows have a merry-go-round hurdy-gurdy, the same old tune from way back.

I would love for there to be some strong competition for the United States from the other side of the Atlantic, but I don't think European peoples will ever get over their internal issues. The EU will never be more than an EEC.

Muslim nukes might just make it happen. The US could not act on internal EU suitcase bombs. That's a bad combination - Islamic and US holy stubborness.

Make what happen? Europe unification?

Yes, like the Soviet Union helped unite them against the Warsaw Pact.

The EU made its biggest strides in the 1990's, after the USSR dissolved. However the Warsaw Pact did show that Europe was capable of working together, but the organization formed was not the EU, it was NATO.

The EU made its biggest advance in territory after 1990, but perhaps it was more united previously, along with NATO. It's interesting that neutral Switzerland is moving towards joining, as part of a general consensus of unity of Euro people. There appears to be a genetic split around Iran, indicating that the Indo- section will not become Euro-.

gengiz khan was not indo-european. religious leaders more often than not advise for war against neighbouring countries. the EU does not only include indoeuropeans, and by far most indoeuropeans are not included in the eu.

however, your clergy robe comparison souds very convincing - if some dresses look alike, there must be a strong economic-political union at some point.

Genghiz Khan moved westward on the steppes in IE territory, and had Nestorian Church influence. His symbol was the Sanskrit camara "regalia yak-tail", as in Pali Sanskrit "chamara" used today. The IE Tocharians were east of him, indicating that he was amidst IE tradition.
The split in Indo- genetics seems to match the schism over Danu river-goddess, so that EU probably will not expand to Indo-regions. The dragon and chamarre robe rituals are not about a shape of garment, but the words "camara chamara chimere zimara" in Brahmin / Church tradition. That religious coherence upon ethnic community indicates a perception of unified entity.
