Well based on that video, its official, the PAK-FA is going to fly rings around the F-22 and all other 5th generation aircraft, we have not seen that kind of maneuverability from any of the others. The low observability will prevent long range shots while the provision of forward looking infrared should allow detection and engagement of the raptor, ideally before the raptor can detect the PAK-FA in the x band. If such a plan holds together the main adversary for the PAK-FA will be the F-35 as only the F-35's distributed apertures will be able to detect the PAK-FA reliably.

The F-22 still lacks a HMDS. So an F-22 pilot can't get the most out of his HOBS missiles. The F-35 also has a better integrated sensor set up, but it is a newer aircraft. The F-22 first flew in 1997, 16 years ago now. If the PAK-FA has similar situational awareness to the F-35, HOBS missiles (this is a given as the Russians were the first to field such missiles), plus it's more capable airframe, the Russian fighter will eat raptors for breakfast.

Recent PLAN training mission (not sure if posted earlier):

Yes that one looks like the most recent one (Joint Sea 2013), largest naval excersise between the two powers to date, this is who took part:

Russian Pacific Fleet:

Project 1164 guided-missile cruiser (Slava):
RFS Varyag (011)
Project 1155 guided-missile destroyer (Udaloy)
RFS Admiral Vinogradov (572)
RFS Marshal Shaposhnikov (543):
Project 956 guided-missile cruiser (Sovremenny)
RFS Bystryy (715)
Project 1241 guided-missile corvette (Tarantul):
Two units (940 & 927)
Project 877 diesel-electric submarine (Kilo):
One unit

PLAN Northern Fleet:
Type 051C guided-missile destroyer (Luzhou):
Shijiazhuang (116)
Shenyang (115)
Type 052B guided-missile destroyer (Luyang I):
Wuhan (169)
Type 052C guided-missile destroyer (Luyang II):
Lanzhou (170)
Type 054A guided-missile frigate (Jiangkai II):
Yantai (538)
Yancheng (546)
Fuqing class replenishment tanker:
Hongzehu (881)

They are following that up with Peace Mission 2013 in Russia for the land forces, Russia is also holding a busy scedule of snap drills so things are quite busy at the moment.

The deletion of the FLIR of the F-22 was a huge mistake for the program, very short-sighted, such a strategy was OK while the F-22 had the stealth advantage but as soon as that is lost the F-22 loses the detection advantage as modern FLIR can detect stealth aircraft before radar. I can confirm the PAK-FA will have a system similar to the distributed apature sensor of the F-35 in addition to the IRST normally found. The lack of a decent communication system also makes the aircraft vulnerable to detection by electronic support measures, despite the LPI feature of the F-22 radar.

A relevant presentation by the Italian Elettronica company...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sukhoi is pure sex on wings.

Crazy video of rebels near Salma, Syria getting blown up by an airstrike more than a week ago. No worries, it's not graphic.
