President Obama has agreed to appear on the cover of OUT magazine which gives him a seal of approval. It must be wondered if this honor would help or hinder a candidate for presidential office.

As Obama is already a President, your question is sort of moot.

I don't think it would hurt them, but then someone who is running for president would probably avoid any contentious issues.

Perhaps a repuplican candidate could gain from this. Not in the primaries of course but in the election to soften their image. After all, people who would be put off by it are never going to vote democrat anyway.
