It is understood the Russian task force, including the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, is currently situated off the coast of Dover.

The fleet also reportedly includes the Pyotr Velikiy battlecruiser, the Severomorsk anti-submarine ship, the Vice-Admiral Kulakov destroyer and other support vessels.

There are 8 surface ships, and probably subs. They will join 10 Russian ships already in Tartus. Seems Putin's comittment to Syria is serious since that would comprise a full battle group. Of particular note is the Kirov. We can haz heavy missile salvo at Syrian rebelz? :excited:

Well most definitely stronker than most. How many countries can actually send a battle group to the other side of the world to wage a full fledged military operation? Have anybody besides the US done it alone recently?

You understand that this isn't the other side of the world, right? So yes, there's a few countries able to despatch fleets to locations where they have naval and military bases only a few hundred miles from its own border.

The Pyotr is the only operational vessel of that class and it's generally regarded as being in poor shape. It hasn't even been modernised. So although it may be ideal for the purpose of blowing up Syrian rebels, it's actually not much to worry about for advanced nations.

Also, the air defence system on the Daring class (currently shadowing the Russian fleet) is vastly superior. What the Pyotr does have is some anti-ballistic missile defence capability, although I doubt the Russians have much to worry about there.

Striking fear into everyone sitting on their own ship

The Admiral Kuznetsov, Russia’s lone, rather geriatric aircraft carrier, steamed through the English Channel toward the Mediterranean Sea on Friday in the Kremlin’s latest attempt to reassert its lost superpower status.

Belching thick black smoke, the Soviet-era warship, previously known more as a threat to its crew than anything else, led a battle group of eight vessels, including an oceangoing tug that traditionally accompanies the carrier, which has a reputation for breaking down.

First they laugh at you, then you humiliate them.

Obama: Lol russia is a regional power, my red lines shall not be crossed

some time later

Obama: if if if if well if if if

And 'soviet-era' ship is nice spin, considering most fleets in the west are from the soviet era too, but they aren't half as well armed, offensively or defensively.

Regardless of how you feel about the status of this equipment of Russia's, it's important that we acknowledge that Clinton's no-fly zone proposal greatly increases direct conflict between Russia and the US which is quite dangerous.

The fact that it's being painted as Russian aggression makes it all the more absurd.

Anyone who opposes our schemes for world domination is being aggressive towards us, by definition. The modern West is so passive-aggressive it's not even funny any more.

marineinsight.com wrote:The main cause of black smoke is imbalance in the air fuel ratio. This means that either there is shortage of air or the fuel supplied to injector is not being treated properly.

The black smoke comprises of particulates, which are large fuel particles that are not broken during combustion due to lack of oxygen.

They could communicate with smoke signals at least.

It was a pretty usual problem with Ladas too, the older ones especially.

It would be such a typical Russian thing if they put the best weapons and weapon systems on a junk ship.

During the cold war the Soviets, the Chines and their clients were supporting the militaries of, or rebel groups within numerous countries. I certainly agree there is vast hypocrisy by western leaders, but it would have been far worse if the Soviets or the Maoists had ever achieved the dominance that America has had post cold war.

However in the Middle East the hypocrisy, the seeming hubris and dis-function is not accidental, but quite deliberate. Israel's interests can not be served openly. Marxist lies serve the Jewish supremacist / Israeli cause. We are not in the Middle East to make either our corporations or our governments richer. We are there to protect the Israeli dominated order. Obviously the fifth fleet is not protecting democracy, but neither is it there to advance the interests of Morgan Stanley, Apple or General Motors.

JOOOS, responsible for marxism, communism, nazism, capitalism and everything that is negative and bad at any given moment. :knife:

It's strange to think that otherwise intelligent people are still blathering about Da J00z, even more than a century after the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion' was forged by Nicholas II's secret police. Their anti-semitism isn't even any more sophisticated than it was back then either. Can't they at least come up with something original for once? :eh:
