Hong Wu wrote:One of my usual talking points is that to conservatives, the nation is a group, to liberals, it's imaginary.

So if Obama or whoever else uses a wall around their house, or their meeting, or whatever, it's not hypocrisy because of course people protect themselves and their territory. But this doesn't apply to nations in their mind because nations are not a set of people, they are just economic zones. Throw in some socialism/hatred of capitalism and you have them wanting to break up the economic zone as well but they haven't gotten that far yet. It seems like certain groups will ruin certain countries before they can make them even more vulnerable.

I would be interested to hear a different theory regarding why individuals or groups within a country can build/use walls but countries can't.

Because the wall Trump is proposing is expensive and because it is pointless, since the border has been tunneled under hundreds of times. Save the money, and invest instead in health care. Or food stamps. Something useful.

My thoughts, exactly

It's starting to look like they are preparing to flip the script and make Comey into a villain again. Something about how an intercepted email from Loretta Lynch about not investigating Hillary was fake and planted by the Russians (despite that tarmac meeting, and an anonymous source of course) but Comey chose to smear Hillary over it anyway. What a bad guy amirite. Notice how this story plugs multiple holes in their narrative at the same time while flipping a character from hero to villain (in this instance) for the third or fourth time.

Lol, the memo doesn't exist... Never did...

Trump calls the bluff again and wins.

So now they are back to plan 1. Discredit Comey, make him look bad, undermine his findings in the Clinton case. Still somehow it's magically "not enough to be fired, his firing was magically a bridge too far"...

Yea, the Clinton case Trump said would lock her up on his first day. Totes bigly progress yo.

Anyway, the biggest thing he took from his visit to his buddies the Sauds is their excellent taste in gaudy orange and gold decor.

Kinda, yea. But you're comparing the action of one person with a broad group (still of idiots)

EDIT

By the way, I notice that you did hte exact thing I said Republicans do; immediately just point to someone else doing it as an excuse.

No I didn't, because I didn't use it as a defense against anything - I merely shared an interesting observation :) I'm not a Republican, you know?

Maybe people who disagree with you just shouldn't defend themselves?

You did not defend yourself. You just attempted to deflect. That is all the right has left. Deflection.

I have posted five times so far a challenge for someone on the right to defend Trump's budget. Or to defend the republican health care nonsense. No takers. Is that because you European/Australian members know for a fact that they are both horribly regressive and a simple sell out to the wealthy?

Or is it because you are just anti-American and want the US to do badly?

I think the latter is the case. But it is a stupid position to take. Igor of all people ought to remember what happens when the US and its transcendentally strong (and stronger under Trump) military is used to quiet unrest at home. A lot of foreign people get killed and others sucked into the conflict.

Won't it be fun when the US starts a shooting match with the DPRK and Australia instantly looses it 1,2 and 4th place trading partners? Won't you be joyful about the US predicament then? Fun huh? And guess who is required by treaty to help? And who is in range of DPRK nukes?

Trolling is fun, isn't it? One of us will be enjoying your posts when you are making them by semaphore and flashlight.

None of us are economists, why should we defend a budget? Nor are we qualified to defend (or attack) a federal health care bill.

I think the difference between me and a lot of posters on this forum is that I actually make arguments I'm qualified to make, instead of trying to aggrandize myself by pretending I'm fit to pass judgment on a budget. For example, I never attacked Obamacare as a plan although I could fairly attack the results it has had.

We have like six or seven threads that are anti-Trump circle jerks. Anyone can point out "there's no evidence yet" and be qualified to point something like that out, when the response is to make another thread and then people say that I'm deflecting. Jesus

I am not an economist, but even I can tell that it is generally a bad idea to divert funds from the EPA and social services to the military and tax cuts for the rich.

Nonsense. One does not need to be an economist to say:

Cutting funding for early childhood education - bad.

Cutting funding for clean air and water - bad.

Increasing funding for a military that already spends more than the next 25 countries combined (24 of which are allies) you tell me.

Putting 24 million people out of health care - bad.

Or maybe I had better chose one that is absolutely indisputable. Having a vote on a health care bill before the congressmen even know what the results of that bill is shows extremely poor judgment.

Want more?

Now you post some positives and show your proof.

AFD. I think I mentioned that before. And no, they are not Nazis. In fact, they're like an 80's version of the CDU. Before that GDR cunt remade them into the new SED.
