Actually, propaganda lies and rumors from "Fake News" have been very damaging to politicians because of the time they have to spend in refuting the false stories. Some people believe the lies and never learn the truth. The liberal news media is very good at attacking politicians they don't like with fake stories. They have taken this to extreme with Trump, since he made their predictions about the election seem foolish. But it could not be them at fault, so it must be the Russians in collusion with Trump.
