Trump as per usual is taking out of his arse. It must be so embarrassing for the majority of Americans to have Trump as their leader. lol

Although President Donald Trump cited high costs associated with transgender service members in his rationale for barring them for military service, the Pentagon spends nearly five times more on Viagra than it does on providing medical services for transgender troops.

A 2016 study by the Rand Corporation found the maximum annual medical costs for transgender services would be around $8.4 million. By comparison, the military spent $84 million on erectile dysfunction medications Viagra and Cialis in 2014, the Military Times reported.

"The money is negligible," Kristin Beck, a 20-year veteran of the Navy SEALs who is transgender, told Business Insider on Wednesday. "You're talking about .000001% of the military budget."

AFAIK wrote:^So 10 million straight soldiers spend more on viagra than 12 trans soldiers. I suppose I could spend $10,000 on one meal and then not eat again for the rest of the year. That would cost the same as eating everyday.

Are you sure there are 10 million straight soldiers in the US military?

Lemme get this all straight. You can't be bothered to share a room with someone who thinks about themselves differently in private because other people's feels triggers you for some reason, but you don't see a problem with giving lots of guns to people who believe in sky pixies they talk to weekly? That is way more insane.

I don't have a problem with religious people, or allowing them in the military, or want to restrict them in any way. Just stop cherry picking what you view as harmful and acceptable.

Getting gays out of the military has been a pet project for the alt-right crypto authoritarians for some time now. This is a win-win for Trump because it attacks Obama's legacy, appeases his base, trolls progressives, AND is unlikely to be implemented. So it fires up his twitter base and he doesn't have to actaully do anything. Although supposedly ultra conservative homophobes VP Pence and AG Sessions are backing the plan.

Notably, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, who is supported by former Navy SEAL and advocate of unrestricted Rules of Engagement Marcus Lutteral, expressed the christian fundamentalist sentiment in his campaign ads when he was running for President.

Rick Perry, a former Eagle Scout, backed Trump when he gave his aggressively nationalistic and militaristic rambling speech that included a story about his time at a cocktail party discussing real-estate with other moguls, and of course a long winded reiteration of the fact that he won the 2016 election in case you forgot, in front of the Boy Scouts of America.

Trump criticized Obama for not giving a political address to the boy scouts but no doubt Obama had a good reason not to engage in that practice. My wonder is, does Bannon set this stuff up BECAUSE it resembles Hitler, or is Trump just too stupid to know?

Trump doesn't even know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid, so no.

Bannon is an Ignatius P. Reilly style proto-dork who would have been a basement dwelling libertarian racist along with the rest of his Breitbart base if he had been born in the age of the internet. He's definitely doing it on purpose, if he is indeed responsible for setting up the Boy Scouts thing.

If he didn't then I wouldn't be surprised that the Trump admin was just desperate to sponge off the good image of the Boy Scouts which now that I think about it fucking lol when the president is so desperate for a win he's using Boy Scouts as props.

This is beneath you Zag. Stop trolling.

I'm glad to see that so many people who have never served nor understand the health implications of transgender medical treatment are so quick to speak up.

Wait until Kristin Beck develops liver problems from the steroids and asks for a 100% disability from the Army, and a liver transplant.

There are a lot of health issues which can plague men or women. If the military is spending 5x as much money on Viagra than on any services specific to transgender soldiers, what exactly is the problem?

The above is more "Fake News" by the so-called progressive liberal news media. It is shameful that they have to make up lies in an attempt to support their agenda of making America weaker and weaker.

So what % of service people are trans? You guys keep arguing that their medical costs are negligible but don't compare that price to their numbers. Also how long have they been serving for? The medical costs for 60yo retirees is going to be higher than 25yos who passed all their physicals 1 year ago.

If you're just going to shout random numbers out without context then I'll dismiss them as irrelevant.

It is only half trolling. I hate it when people get a bug up their ass over something that has absolutely no impact on themselves but leaves other people to depression and suicide, while trying to push an agenda that will have an impact on everyone based on their subjective feelings.

Only number I heard earlier this morning was on NPR, and estimates were 10,000 or less across all armed service branches.

But the real answer is: this is a ridiculous non-issue for people without broken brains. The GOP is currently trying to pass health legislation that will kick millions off insurance and close tons of rural hospitals, and Trump will sign that bill if it reaches his desk because he needs a "win."
