Donald Trump's Twitter account has retweeted three inflammatory videos from a British far-right group.
The first tweet from Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of Britain First, claims to show a Muslim migrant attacking a man on crutches.
This was followed by two more videos of people Ms Fransen claims to be Muslim.
Britain First was founded in 2011 by former members of the far-right British National Party (BNP).
The group has grabbed attention on social media with controversial posts about what they deem "the Islamification of the UK".
It has put up members to run in general elections on anti-immigration and anti-abortion policies, but has yet to secure any seats.
Ms Fransen has more than 52,000 followers on Twitter.
She responded enthusiastically to Mr Trump sharing her tweets. She posted on her account: "Donald Trump himself has retweeted these videos and has around 44 million followers!"
"God bless you Trump! God bless America!," she added.
The original video was shared by US conservative commentator Ann Coulter who Mr Trump follows.

Britain First is a far right party in the the U.K. It seems that Britain First is now an ally of Trump. This says a lot about the so called right wing in the US.
Here is a Britain First video.

We are seeing Trump from the American right wing embracing a far right party of the UK. This indicates that what we call the far right in the U.K. is as the right wing in the US. US politics is skewed to the right.

I guess if you are wingnut that means something? I still don't get the point? Also when did retweeting become "embracing". I am not on twitter but did use it one time ages ago, I never saw retweeting as something as being as intimate as an actual embrace, am I missing something?

I don't know about that...

Downing Street has condemned the tweets, saying Mr Trump was "wrong" to share them with his followers.

However, a spokesman for Prime Minister Theresa May said plans for the President's state visit remain in place.

Brendan Cox, the widower of MP Jo Cox, responded in a tweet, saying: "Trump has legitimised the far-Right in his own country, now he’s trying to do it in ours. Spreading hatred has consequences & the President should be ashamed of himself."

Chuka Umunna, the Labour MP, said the State Visit invitation to Mr Trump to be withdrawn immediately.

Mr Umunna told Sky News: "He is normalising hatred. If we don’t call this out we are going down a very dangerous road."

Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour leader, said: "I hope our Government will condemn far-right retweets by Donald Trump. They are abhorrent, dangerous and a threat to our society.

There was no immediate reaction from Theresa May, who was on a surprise visit to Baghdad.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd did not immediately respond when Labour MPs raised the issue in Parliament.

There was also no immediate comment from the White House.

Ehh, so what about the guy getting beaten up on crutches? Who ever posted this, far-right or not, the guy got beaten up by a migrant. This proceeds contrary to the whole narrative that all migrants are beneficial to society and highlights negative impact of current migration policies. What people are doing is criticising the messenger here, and not actually looking at the message.

It's a serious international issue now, I wonder if this is foreign meddling in UK politics at its highest.
The Hill wrote:Trump to British PM: Focus on terrorism, not me

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 11/29/17 07:49 PM EST

President Trump on Wednesday urged British Prime Minister Theresa May to focus on terrorism rather than on him.

His tweet follows May's condemnation of Trump’s Wednesday retweets of videos purporting to show violence committed by Muslims.

“Theresa @theresamay, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

A spokesperson for May earlier on Wednesday condemned Trump’s decision to share the videos, which were originally posted by a far-right British nationalist leader.

“It is wrong for the president to have done this,” said James Slack, a spokesperson for May, as reported by The Associated Press.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended the president for sharing the videos, saying that whether the inflammatory videos are real or not, “the threat is real.”

"The threat is real and that is what the president is talking about," she said Wednesday.

Trump tagged the wrong person in his original tweet. The British prime minister's official Twitter handle is @theresa_may.

Why? That's almost easy. Donald knows and understands that there is a high percentage of dumb folks in a typical slice of society. He understands the dumb brain and knows what buttons to push. Huey Long once told a speech writer to keep it all on a 6th grade level. Donald does the same thing. He also knows that dumb people love to hate. Gets their blood moving and then ............ in walks Donald, their savior and protector. Simple things for simple minds.

As a bonus, this endless supply of dumb shit acts as a shield behind which Donald can rob from the poor to the benefit of the rich. This shield also tends to obscure the various investigations into Donald's lies and cheating.

Right, because people claimed that Muslims in the West never commit violent crimes :knife: . Such anecdotal "evidence" is worthless and does nothing but incite ethnic hatred. Either provide meaningful statistics or STFU.

Not that we don't know that Trump is an islamophobe.

Donald Trump has told Prime Minister Theresa May to focus on "terrorism" in the UK after she criticised his sharing of far-right videos.
"Don't focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom," Mr Trump tweeted.
The US president had earlier retweeted three inflammatory videos posted online by a British far-right group.
Mrs May's spokesman said it was "wrong for the president to have done this".
The US and the UK are close allies and often described as having a "special relationship". Theresa May was the first foreign leader to visit the Trump White House.
The videos shared by Mr Trump, who has more than 40 million followers, were initially posted by Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of Britain First, a group founded by former members of the far-right British National Party (BNP).
Ms Fransen, 31, has been charged in the UK with using "threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour" over speeches she made at a rally in Belfast.
Several leading UK politicians have criticised the president for retweeting her posts, as has the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who said it was "deeply disturbing" that Mr Trump had "chosen to amplify the voice of far-right extremists".
And it has led to renewed calls for Mr Trump's planned state visit to the UK to be cancelled, although Downing Street said on Wednesday that the invitation still stood.
In hitting out at Mrs May, Mr Trump first tagged the wrong Twitter account, sending his statement to a different user with just six followers. He then deleted the tweet and posted it again, this time directing the message to the UK PM's official account.
After condemning Mr Trump's actions on Wednesday, Brendan Cox - whose wife, MP Jo Cox, was murdered by a right-wing extremist who shouted "Britain first" before committing the act - spoke out again in response to the latest tweet.
He wrote: "You have a mass shooting every single day in your country, your murder rate is many times that of the UK, your healthcare system is a disgrace, you can't pass anything through a congress that you control. I would focus on that."
TV presenter and journalist Piers Morgan, who has supported Mr Trump in the past, said the president "owes our prime minister an apology, not a lecture" after he "publicly endorsed the most extreme bunch of Islamophobe fascists in Britain".
But American conservative commentator Ann Coulter - who is one of the 45 people followed on Twitter by Mr Trump and retweeted the videos first - defended her president's words to Mrs May.
She told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "He has only given as good as he gets. I think he has been verbally attacked from the mother country for a lot longer than he has been attacking Britain, starting with that petition to ban him."
She added it was right to go after Mrs May "after she's attacked him".

AP News wrote:UK’s May criticizes ‘wrong’ Trump tweets, but visit still on

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Theresa May insisted Thursday that she is not afraid to criticize a key ally, saying U.S. President Donald Trump’s retweets of a “hateful” far-right group were “the wrong thing to do.”

But May’s government dug in its heels over mounting calls to cancel Trump’s planned state visit to the U.K.

Trump’s retweeting of anti-Muslim videos from far-right fringe group Britain First has been widely condemned in Britain. May’s spokesman called the retweets “wrong,” and the prime minister gave the same verdict on Thursday.

“The fact that we work together does not mean that we are afraid to say when we think that the United States have got it wrong and to be very clear with them,” she said. “I am very clear that retweeting from Britain First was the wrong thing to do.”

Speaking in Amman, Jordan, May said the anti-Islam, anti-immigrant group was “a hateful organization” that runs counter to “common British decency.”

Trump responded to criticism from Britain with a tweet urging May to focus on “the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom,” rather than on him.

May countered that “we take the need to deal with the terrorist threat very seriously.”

May has sought to cultivate a close relationship with Trump, visiting him in Washington days after his inauguration in January and extending the offer of a state visit hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.

But the Twitter storm has prompted renewed calls for the trip to be called off. Trump had already faced strong opposition in Britain over his attempt to ban travel to the U.S. from several majority-Muslim countries.

In the House of Commons on Thursday, multiple lawmakers stood to demand that the visit be scrapped.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan also joined the calls. He said Trump has promoted “a vile, extremist group” and an official visit by him to Britain “would not be welcomed.”

May said the visit was still on — though she suggested it was not imminent.

“An invitation for a state visit has been extended and has been accepted,” she said. “We have yet to set a date.”

The retweets by Trump, who has almost 44 million Twitter followers, provided a huge boost to Britain First. The tiny but publicity-savvy group has staged direct-action protests at mosques and is active on social media. The group regularly posts inflammatory videos purporting to show violence by Muslims, without context or supporting information.

Several lawmakers called Thursday for the group to be banned.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said that “British people overwhelmingly reject the prejudiced rhetoric of the far right.”

“This government will not tolerate any groups that spread hate by demonizing those of other faiths or ethnicities,” she said.

Rudd also welcomed a suggestion by Conservative lawmaker Peter Bone that Trump delete his Twitter account.

“I’m sure many of us might share his view,” Rudd said.
