Are all avatars in black and white?

I thought I saw a color one, but then I haven't seen it since. So just checking.

I'm new. Hi. I find a lot of these online forums are sausage fests with token women laying around here or there. I've seen a few women posting here though, so thought I'd try this place... though the account creation was a little wierd (Mighta been my fault... :) though)

Still I'm pretty sure the guy who helped me has hairy arms, as I found some stray curlies in my email in-box!

Feminist? Yes, of course... Why I would advocate for anything less just seems silly. I don't like mainstream US politics (Yes, I'm an American, sorry about the last few prez...) I'm pretty far to the left really, probably almost revolutionary. I hate Capitalism and money, etc. Who doesn't though, I mean irl, not on the all important internet??? ;)

I'm a little older, no I'm not telling how much. I'm not a fan of arguing but I like debating anyone who can be reasonable and who can make points while also conceding obvious holes in their arguments, as I try to do in hopes of building more solid rationalizations for the positions I currently hold.

So I guess I'm not sure what else we're supposed to say, but issue-wise I'm against government in general (In the social-Anarchist way, not the Libertarian way), for female empowerment and freedom, I'm a huge fan of the Northern Alliance in Syria (Long live Rojava!), I also advocate for children, families. By the same token I hate identity politics and try to never "wave a flag".

As part of that I see race, class, and gender as little other than oppressive dichotomies we'd all be better off without. Basically I see class conflict as paramount, and the other two as unfortunate side effects of this paradigm. I am a fangirl for nativism, but I try to listen and support those movements, rather than spreading my own viewpoints on them. I'd hop around with them if invited though! (Actually I was, so I'm going to, yea me!)

In my camp, everyone is gray and their gender is human. It's up to the individual to determine for themselves how best to express their own concepts of race and gender in their own lives. I feel that I honor these kindred spirits in this way, in simply taking their word for who they are, and by doing so I let them define their own existences for themselves. That just seems like the kind of freedom that empowers everyone.

Certain things are now legal in my state. I enjoy them here and there.

What? I meant guns!

What? Ok, I meant pot too! :D (just a little though)

Welcome Hippy,

I wonder how long will you last and if you do then what kind of radical will you become in the end ?

Of course not! We are indeed great PoFo friends and despite our differences, I am making it my life goal to one day meet you in person so we might eat, drink, and make merry with much booze and political debate.

Thanks for the replies. The Do Equix (sp?) guy is obviously full of hooey.

For the record, I don't consider myself progressive, my takes earlier were more from a materialist perspective. I'm not sure why Marx still continues to be lumped in with the 'nards in the center. I don't vote Democrat, for that matter, if there are not more than two two choices I don't vote at all. It's a silly waste of my time, and just keeps up some farce that I have any say in my government. I don't buy it.

JohnRawls wrote:Welcome Hippy,

I'm only a hippie in a vague sense. I'm not wild about some of that stuff. Plus the pot is actually, really, only once in a while... and now that it's legal it's like it's mainstream already! GO 10 states! Go Canada!

B0ycey wrote:You won't be a fan of One Degree though if your OP is anything to go by. One Degree is the anti-Twain.

Ah well, one can hope.

Sivad wrote:Welcome to pofo. Good to have another left-libertarian on this board. There are a lot of red fascists here who pretend to be socialists, but hardly any real leftists.

I don't have a problem with a lot of their platform, I'm just not sure I'm much of a fan of the liquidating and the vanguard this and that. The rest of that stuff makes sense... I think anyway.

Sivad wrote:Welcome to pofo. Good to have another left-libertarian on this board.

I really consider myself more of an Anarchist... but, w/e? That's cool too.

noemon wrote:Welcome to the forum.

THANKS!

Zamuel wrote:Ah, another biddy … We actually have quite a flock here on Pofo, you should find it comfortable.

Biddy, really? Do people still say that word where you come from? Huh. Ok. I'm not sure what the male equivalent of that is... "old... coot"? Or something?

Zamuel wrote:That's ok, we're working on a cure.

I never really have understood why men who otherwise really aren't part of the problem (re not wealthy), always take such offense at women attempting to work together as a group. Sure there are pitfalls, and there are women who go off the rails with it, but that's not even a little different than Trump, Putin, or any of the other so-called "Alpha Males" floating around.

Anyway, w/e dewd.

Zamuel wrote:So, you don't know, what you're talking about, you just think, maybe, it might, kind'a, be right?

Wow. You're like that? That feels... um... vaguely insulting and condescending or something. Huh. Cute.

Zamuel wrote:Ok, what's your favorite piece?

I mean, you know anyone can google anything right? Sure I'll tell you anyway though. I have a concealed carry handgun that is just a 'lil Smith and Wesson .380, but it has a fancy laser so I know I look good, and sexy, when I hold it! *tee hee*

The most enjoyable pistol I ever shot though, was a friend of mine's Kimber .1911. The thing shoots like a tank or something, and it was really heavy but with practice I got to be fairly accurate with it. I hate shotguns, though I learned not to bruise myself with them. I've shot .20, .12, and a .410. Not impressed with the small one, and the .12 gauge was waaaay to much boom.

I have also fired both an AR and an AK. I have come across several other wierd military style civilian rifles but nothing actually automatic.

So tell me stud, since I showed you mine, show me yours.
(No, not THAT, God...)

Zamuel wrote:Better hide the stash if -Red Army- turns up.

I spend $20 every now and again. If this Red Army guy comes up and asks, I'll just share. :)

*BTW- You can never do these two together, that would be dumb, and still illegal due to some wierd conflicts with state and federal law.

Victoribus Spolia wrote:I think you will have plenty of fun here. There are no serious conservatives or misogynists for you to worry about.

Thanks, but I'm not really worried, if I don't like it I'll just do my thing. I'm more curious about a few specific topics than anything else. Beyond that, we'll see. It is a nice enough looking place though... so, I dunno, whoever put up the drapes did well.

Well around here they might say La Vieja or, in your darker aspect, La Bruja.

Wow. You're like that? That feels... um... vaguely insulting and condescending or something. Huh. Cute.

Just the usual dose of male dominance. Ego reinforcement ...

I prefer the old European .32 acp (old prewar CZ) for concealed carry. .380 is on par with it.

The most enjoyable pistol I ever shot though, was a friend of mine's Kimber .1911. The thing shoots like a tank or something, and it was really heavy but with practice I got to be fairly accurate with it.

Kimber makes excellent weapons, I love their triggers.

I use an old Browning High Power (9mm) as a service weapon, it's hell on rattlers. I removed the old vintage magazine safety and discovered a buttery trigger with absolutely no creep. I love it. I'm not much impressed with AKs. ARs are decent if you clean up the typical factory short cuts. My favorite long gun is the Russian SVD. I might put the newer Savage in .338 there too, but the SVD is a Semi and therefore more appealing than the bolt gun.

*BTW- You can never do these two together, that would be dumb, and still illegal due to some wierd conflicts with state and federal law.

Agreed … ! (some of the scary stories I could tell...)

Again, be welcome.

Lol, I see... "fucking with me" then (umm... can we say that here?) *waits for word filter or smite from heaven*

Zamuel wrote:I prefer the old European .32 acp (old prewar CZ) for concealed carry. .380 is on par with it.

I can talk some of the talk, but not all of it. I am not military, but I've been around military guys and girls off and on. I've never fired a Euro weapon, although a friend of mine had some kind of crappy HK .762 jobby that was far too big for me to handle and waaaay too much bang. Still, it was cool watching them blow up watermelons with it!

Zamuel wrote:Kimber makes excellent weapons, I love their triggers.

Yeah, that's funny. I guess that's what I was talking about. I don't know if you'd say it like this, but the slide wracked clean and the trigger was super smooth. It was a $1500 pistol though, so I guess you pay for that. Still... If it was practical to carry or have around I'd invest.

Zamuel wrote:I use an old Browning High Power (9mm) as a service weapon, it's hell on rattlers.

You must be a desert dweller. Ima guess Arizona? I'm north of you, if true.

The AK I shot was actually quite embarrassing. It's also really heavy and my friend told me I could "rapid fire" by depressing my finger on the trigger very rapidly. He showed me how. What I didn't get was how it jumps... the... muzzle climb or whatever! Lol... so long story short I shot the tree tops and probably some poor wildlife five miles away.

Zamuel wrote:My favorite long gun is the Russian SVD

True Story: I have an SVD scope on a modified SKS! Yes, well... it's something, right? :) (No, I didn't do any of that work...more "friends")

Zamuel wrote:Agreed … ! (some of the scary stories I could tell...)

Mexican friend of mine very narrowly avoided a third strike when he got caught over-the-limit on his "pot allowance". Cops told him if he'd been carrying, he would have gotten life. He can handle himself, but he has a family and does good stuff for the community. It would have been silly to have locked him up for that, like that.

I can't guess your stories, probably pretty nuts if your military or ex-military.

Absent politics, it's a very hospitable culture.

(umm... can we say that here?) *waits for word filter or smite from heaven*

You can pretty much say / post what you like, Stay away from personal insults and graphic porn or you might get your hands slapped.

I can talk some of the talk, but not all of it. I am not military, but I've been around military guys and girls off and on. I've never fired a Euro weapon

No real difference. The CZ .32 I mentioned is a Chez weapon, (very high quality, exceptionally good steel.) akin to a Walther, smaller than the colt woodsman series or the Nazi Brownings.

If it was practical to carry or have around I'd invest.

If you hike primitive areas, you might want a service weapon with a little more umpf than a .380 or .32. 9mms are a perfect compromise. They'll put down a javelina or cougar (1 shot). They're also easier to shoot than the popular hand cannons and can be considerably lighter.

You must be a desert dweller.

Yes, I'm NW of Tucson at he base of the Coccio Mountains.

True Story: I have an SVD scope on a modified SKS! Yes, well... it's something, right? :)

The SKS can be a decent rifle, quality varies widely. Very good bang for the buck. The SVD scope is (I think) worth more than the rifle … All of those scopes I've seen were extremely well made.

I can't guess your stories, probably pretty nuts if your military or ex-military.

Me? No, I've never responded well to authority. But a lot of those stories do involve vets. War zones do not breed respect for gun safety.[/quote]

Very user friendly and up-to-date looking. So many forums use a format that is very 90s looking and not user friendly.

You have trolls here and you have serious posters on both sides of the political spectrum. The balance is pretty even in my opinion as far as both the serious-to-troll ratio and the left-to-right wing ratio. The extremes seem to have become more extreme (SJW v. Alt. Right) with Libertarians falling out of favor from a previous golden-era some years ago (atleast from what I have been told) and the moderates basically evaporating with those who might be considered such becoming disinterested cynics who mostly post in off-topic forums. There is also a strong contingent of middle-aged and older Marxist and Stalinist purists who reject being lumped in with the new left.

Still, these are all generalizations, pretty diverse overall and pretty free-speech tolerant.

Overall, only people who fall in love with the platform seem to stick around and all who stick around become increasingly cynical. This fact was probably behind the "corruption" scale on our profiles.

I would think an anarchist would have more of an issue with the statism, the authoritarianism ...and the gulags. Are you an anarcho-gulagist? :D

I really consider myself more of an Anarchist... but, w/e? That's cool too.

Libertarian is just the broader category of anti-authoritarian philosophies that anarchism falls under.

I understand. I was making it clear that I don't consider myself a libertarian in the modern American specific identification of the term. In other words, I ain't no Tea Partier!

Beyond that, I'm all down with the black flag... (With some red... ;) )
