Mhardeh is a Christian town of 23,000 people. It is also on the front line of confrontation against the Idlib terrorists who have attacked the town and its people for seven years.

Ter's article wrote:The decision was taken, our sources reveal, after consultations between Washington and Jerusalem at the highest administration and military levels on the enhanced threat the recent Russian steps presented to Israeli air operations against Iranian targets in Syria.

"enhanced threat" of Syria and Russia being able to defend themselves from Israeli attacks on Syrian territory. :D

This probably restores the previous IAF air superiority.
Interesting, let's wait and see.

Note they didn't get any F-22s. This was because the Israelis couldn't be trusted not to sell on the technology. Such pathetic cucks are the American leaders, that rather than call out the Jewish state, they chose to not sell it to anyone. No foreign sales made the programme uneconomic so it had to be closed down. We've had 3000 years of arrogant bigoted Jewish supremacism going back to the genocide at Jericho, but rather than challenge Jews on their virulent racism, we pretend its not happening.

Pompeo says Syria won’t get a dollar in reconstruction aid if Iran forces stay
In signs of a shift, he tells Jewish policy group that a new key role of US troops in Syria will be to ensure Tehran withdraws its forces; backs Israeli strikes on Iranian targets

Image

WASHINGTON — The United States will refuse any additional reconstruction assistance to war-torn Syria so long as Iranian troops are present in the country, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday.

Speaking to a pro-Israel group, Pompeo vowed to press forward with US President Donald Trump’s push to isolate Iran, boasting of imposing “some of the harshest sanctions in history.”

“The onus for expelling Iran from the country falls on the Syrian government, which bears responsibility for its presence there,” Pompeo told the Jewish Institute for National Security of America.

“If Syria doesn’t ensure the total withdrawal of Iranian-backed troops, it will not receive one single dollar from the United States for reconstruction,” Pompeo said.

Pompeo’s remarks come as the Trump administration shifts its reasoning for US involvement in Syria’s brutal civil war, which a war monitor says has killed close to 365,000 people since 2011.

The United States has some 2,000 troops in Syria, mainly training and advising rebels, after former president Barack Obama authorized the mission to defeat the Islamic State extremist group, or IS.

Pompeo said that fighting IS “continues to be a top priority” but listed rolling back Iran as another.

National security adviser, John Bolton, said last month that US troops would stay “as long as Iranian troops are outside Iranian borders.”

Iran, ruled by Shiite Muslim clerics, has deployed both troops, its Lebanese ally Hezbollah and other militias to prop up Assad, a secular leader who belongs to the Alawite sect and is facing down hardline Sunni Muslim forces.

Pompeo did not make similar demands for a withdrawal by Russia, which has long considered Syria a major ally.

Trump in August already pulled out of Syria’s immediate reconstruction, suspending $230 million after pledges by Gulf Arab allies.

“Iran has seen instability in Syria as a golden opportunity to tip the regional balance of power in its favor,” Pompeo said.

He warned that Iran, a sworn foe of Israel, would open a new front against the Jewish state if it remained in Syria.

Israel has repeatedly said it will not allow Iran, or its Shiite proxies, to establish a permanent presence in postwar Syria. It has launched numerous attacks on targets it says are a threat to its security.

Tehran has provided steady political, financial, and military backing to Assad as he has fought back a seven-year uprising. It has also sought to build missile factories in Syria and uses its bases there to convey advanced weapons to the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon.

And Pompeo said that the US fully supports the Israeli strikes.

“Israel, like all nations, has the right to defend its sovereignty,” Pompeo said. “That means we will continue to stand up for its right to target Iranian-backed militias within Syria for as long as the threat remains.”

So as long as Iran stays, the war will not be over.
Asad has a decision to make.

It seems the Americans are saying they will accept Assad if Syria and Russia get rid of the Iranians.

Regarding the stealth fighters, this will force Lockheed to make the F-35 fully operational. About time!

@Rich mentioned F-22. There is talk of an undated version with comparable situation awareness to the F-35, going back into production. This new version might be sold to Japan, so the F-22 could get some export orders. Whether Israel will get them remains to be seen. The F-22 is great for air dominance but not so good for strike. This is why the IAF is hanging onto their F-15s. That platform is very versatile and long ranged.

In what world are people living in where they think the Syrian government is going to kick out an ally to favour the empire that was a major player in the war on its country?

Just like how Assad wasn't/isn't going anywhere despite the empire's constant demands throughout the war, so it is that Iran isn't going anywhere. Keep dreaming, zionists.

Besides, Russia, China and Iran have offered money for reconstruction of Syria. I can't imagine the Syrian govt are going to trust the US on anything anytime soon/ever.

Hopefully the Syrians get back control of all of their land, including the Golan Heights. :)

Too bad Syria winning the war for the most part disrupted Yinon's plan, eh ZN?

Israel reportedly strikes pro-Iranian militia sites in Syria

Army investigating reports of projectile landing in Golan; explosions reported in and around Damascus, in southern Syria and along highway to Beirut; IDF mum on strikes

A number of pro-Iranian militia bases and Iranian weapons caches in southern Syria were targeted by Israeli airstrikes on Thursday night, according to the Al-Arabiya news site.

Explosions were also reported in and around the Syrian capital of Damascus, near its international airport, which Israel claims has been used by Iran to supply terror groups with advanced weaponry.

According to the Kremlin-backed Sputnik new site, blasts were also heard near the town of al-Dimas, along the Damascus-Beirut highway, which may indicate that an arms shipment was targeted in the alleged Israeli strikes.

“Israeli forces bombarded for an hour positions in the southern and southwestern suburbs of Damascus as well as in the south of Syria at the border of Quneitra province,” the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor Rami Abdel Rahman said.

The Israel Defense Forces refused to comment on Thursday night’s reported airstrikes, but denied a Russian media claim that an Israeli plane had been shot down.

“The reports of an Israeli aircraft or other Israeli aerial platform being hit are false,” the army said in a statement.

Once a regular occurrence, reports of Israeli airstrikes in Syria have become increasingly rare in the past two months, after Syria accidentally shot down a Russian spy plane during an Israeli raid, which Moscow blamed on Israel. Despite the strained relationship with Russia, Israeli officials maintain that the IDF continues to operate in the country.

According to the official Syrian SANA news outlet, the country’s air defenses fired at several of the incoming “enemy” projectiles, shooting down some of them. Military sources told the state-run outlet that the airstrikes had “failed to achieve any of its objectives.”

Many analysts believe that Syria sometimes falsely claims to have intercepted missiles that successfully penetrate its air defenses.

The IDF said it was investigating reports of a projectile landing inside Israeli territory, on the Golan Heights, potentially the remnants of a Syrian surface-to-air missile.

“An aerial defense system identified a single launch toward an open field on the Golan Heights. At this point it is not clear if there was indeed an impact in our territory. Troops are searching the area,” the army said.

Syrian state television aired footage of interceptor missiles being fired into the air south of Damascus.

According to Syrian media, some of the incoming strikes were aimed at the al-Kiswah area, which was bombed by Israel in the past for allegedly containing Iranian military bases.

The rest of the targets were not immediately known.

Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes against Iranian targets in Syria in recent years. However, this has slowed in the past two months following the downing of the Russian plane.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, Thursday was the first time Syria’s air defenses had been called into action since Syria accidentally shot down a Russian spy plane and the 15 people on board during an Israeli raid on September 17.

Moscow blamed Israel for the incident and supplied Damascus with the advanced S-300 air defense system — something it had previously refrained from doing following requests from Jerusalem.

The S-300 systems were delivered to Syria last month, but they are not yet believed to be in use, as the Syrian air defense teams still need to be trained to operate them.

Iran has been hit once again in Syria.
Hopefully a lot of weapons and rockets have been destroyed.
It is a positive development.

Largest-ever surface missile attack on Syria targeted 15 Iranian/Hizballah sites

Image

For 75 minutes on Thursday night, Nov. 29, the IDF blasted Iranian, Hizballah and Syrian targets in its biggest ever surface missile attack on Syria, DEBKAfile’s intelligence and military sources can now reveal. This was not an Israeli air force strike such as those conducted for two years against Iranian targets in Syria. Two kinds of ground-to ground missiles were used in this cross-border offensive: a Long-Range Artillery Weapon system known as LORA which has a range of 400km; and the guided, short range Tamuz. They raked across at least 15 sites, most of them belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), pro-Iranian militias and Hizballah. They covered an area ranging from the Syrian Hermon slopes in the north, down to the Iranian command center at Izra north of Daraa in the south (See attached map.)

Among the locations targeted was Al-Zabadani, a town on the Damascus-Beirut highway near the Lebanese border in the west, which Hizballah has taken over and established there its command posts, training camps and ammunition and rocket depots. At Al Kiswah south of Damascus, the IDF missiles struck Iran’s central command post in Syria, which is known as the “Glass House.”

Blasted too were the command posts and structures of two Syrian brigades which are structured for Syrian officers to command a hodge-podge of Hizballah, pro-Iranian Shiite and Palestinian militias. Israeli missiles also struck the Syrian Army’s 90th Brigade which rules the area north of Quneitra and 112h Brigade which is stationed south of this Golan town.
The massive Israeli cross-border assault inflicted heavy casualties on the Iranians, their militias, Hizballah and the Syrian army, including fatalities. Up until Friday night, neither Iran, Syria nor Hizballah had disclosed the precise targets smashed by the IDF 24 hours earlier. The Russian military in Syria was also silent.

Of course the Arab news media will say the attack was a failure :)
They must have hired the PR people Sadam Hossain had.
Iran has lost a lot of its hardware once again, and probably some of its soldiers.
