I can't help noticing how much the "humanitarian aid" for Venezuela from "Uncle Sanctions" looks a lot like the smallpox blankets of olde.

Reuters wrote:Russia's Gazprombank decided to freeze PDVSA accounts

Tatiana Voronova

MOSCOW, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Russian lender Gazprombank has decided to freeze the accounts of Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA and halted transactions with the firm to reduce the risk of the bank falling under U.S. sanctions, a Gazprombank source told Reuters on Sunday.

“PDVSA’s accounts are currently frozen. As you’ll understand, operations cannot be carried out,” the source said. Gazprombank did not reply to a Reuters request for a comment.

Reuters reported this month that PDVSA was telling customers of its joint ventures to deposit oil sales proceeds in its Gazprombank accounts, according to sources and an internal document, in a move to sideline fresh U.S. sanctions on PDVSA.

Washington says the sanctions, imposed on Jan. 28, are aimed at blocking Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s access to the country’s oil revenue after opposition leader Juan Guaido proclaimed himself interim president and received widespread Western support.

Gazprombank is Russia’s third biggest lender by assets and includes among its shareholders Russian state gas company Gazprom.

The bank has held PDVSA accounts for several years. In 2013, PDVSA said it signed a deal with Gazprombank for $1 billion in financing for the Petrozamora company. The source said that Petrozamora accounts were frozen, too.

I just start wondering whether the Russians have decided to drop Maduro if they're so compliant with US sanctions against him.

All I got from that report is that US sanctions is stealing more Venezuelan money. Uncle Sams Petro Dollar tentacles are even getting Russian passports.

When America stack the deck against you, it is time to trade in Euros. Or perhaps Yuan.

Fuck Trump and fuck his bloody Empire.

Why would it be better to submit to the very wanker who is starving your nation of oil revenue? Putin isn't doing anything to make the situation worse for the Venezuelan people so in comparison to Trump is a white knight. Also I find it embarrassing that John Rawls is shilling America when it is them who are creating the conditions for this thread to exist to begin with. Perhaps he might change his tune when America get their tentacles into Europe again after the Venezuelan issue is over.

Also Maduro needs to move his money to a Chinese bank. They don't take shit from anyone and will tell America where their interference can go.

These are great nicknames indeed, maybe the special relationship between White Knight and Very Wanker is good for Venezuela. This bullshit regime has to fall sooner or later anyway, maybe it's better sooner than later when White Knight won't have such special relations with the White House, which both he and Very Wanker vehemently deny, of course.

Euros maybe, but Yuan. No business would want to take on that risk.

China is an export economy. There advantage is weakening the Yuan, not strengthen it. Although it needs to be said they the hold a big pile of Dollars. They can trade in anything and always have an advantage.

Fair enough. For now that is true.

About Maduro, Beren wrote:...This bullshit regime ...

This is something that you have in common with a lot of American "journalists" on the left and right. Rather than analysing the situation in Venezuela truthfully, you all resort to smears (thug, regime, guy who looks like he ties women to railroad tracks). Smears are used by thugs. The people who are smeared by thugs are victims of propaganda and slander.

... it's better if Maduro falls under Trump who trusts Putin more than his own intelligence services.

And then this really bone-headed "Russia! Russia!" smear stolen directly from commercial media sources with no transformation or lucid understanding of where it's coming from.

Beren, if you just want to get drunk and yell at the television, there's nothing wrong with that. But don't type the first smears that come to your inebriated mind.

Like you analyse anything truthfully, @QatzelOk.

If smears are used by thugs, you're a thug yourself at the highest, plus your cheap and false ad hominems (or smears) are even less useful and effective than your boring textual performances and trolling are. You're a perfect team with skinster: he gives the tweets and you give the "depth".

As to the bullshit regime in Venezuela: Panama Papers ‘tightened the noose’ on offshore assets of Maduro’s inner circle

Reality check to most people here. Venezuelan Oil industry is pretty much dead. US doesn't care much for Venezuelan oil and it will probably be fully phased out by oil shale in the next year or two. If Maduro/Chavez was pro-US then the process would have been different because US had to convert refinement facilities that they have already built for heavy crude from Venezuela. US had facilities to make use of the heavy crude from Venezuela and since the regime was anti-US it is a given that they are transitioning to local oil shale which is cheaper now by the way. Break even price in 2018 for US oil shale(45ish) was lower than Russian break even(50ish) price due to technological development, new practices in both extraction and environmental management.

Bottom line, Price of a barrel of oil will not go above 70 USD anymore in the US. Unless something drastic happens on the world market. Venezuelan heavy crude is problematic because it needs to be extracted and extraction maintained but also because refining heavy crude is problematic compared to light variants. Not to mention the transportation costs. So breakeven for Venezuelan crude is way above the current oil shale production. US oil shale breakevens are expected to drop even further to 25ish-30ish marks in the next couple of years perhaps.

Does Maduro have his own secret harem where he goes to rape the women? His Swiss bank account needs to be tracked down!

He rather appears to be a jovial sultan that prefers impressing women with privileges and riches.

I see the butt-sniffers of US empire are back and boring as ever, although their transition from confidence in war on Venezuela to resentment at the lack of blood on display right now is remarkable. I hope things continue in the direction of the empire's shit coup remaining shit.

B0ycey wrote:Reality check for one person on here. Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserve on the planet. If their industry is dead then so is demand for oil.

What is the point of that oil if it is not economically viable? :?:

Most of Venezuelan oil reserves are heavy crude, it can't compete in any shape or form with oil shale right now which produces light crude. On top of that, Venezuela has no good relations with the US so they have no need to subsidise the stability of Venezuela :eh:
