The trigger wrote:Ok cuba is poor and thats not what I call sucessfull.

It is a developing country, but despite that, it has medical outcomes that are superior to the USA.

Not many cars think about that.

That is mostly due to the embargo. Are you aware of the embargo?

Low crime rate well that could be due to the fact few have much to steal.

It probably also has a lot to do with the strong social safety net, so poor people do not need to steal to get food, clothes, education, and hospital care.

And if I was looking for a tourist to rob would I choose some9ne who looked like a local on a bicycle or someone in a taxi or limo .

:|

Im sure cuban prisons are a joy. Did you check them out.

There is only one prison on the island that you get sent to without a trial. It is called Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo.

Hows the freedom of speech there. Gun ownership

In my experience, it is similar to, or better than, the USA.

health care .

One of the top twenty in the world, if I recall correctly.

I think the US is far behind.

Higher education.

Free for all citizens.

The pay scale.

Better than being ridden by Roy Rogers.

Maybe you should move there for a few years and report back

Many people from my particular demographic did so, and they loved it.

Yea its been developing for decades and tell us about the great medical care they have there thats so desired by the rest of the world.

O yes no need to steal there after all what woyld they steal toilet paper or cloths
O yes top healrh care people are flocking there by the millions from south america and the Caribbean and America . o wait the cubans were flocking to america along with those from the Caribbean and south america not cuba must be those great human rights violations lack of freedom of speech and gulags

Yes china hasnt got a lot in jail could be they are scared to death to go to jail ever consider that.

And I watched a documentary about russian jails great deterrent to commiting crimes.
As for the usa having x the ammmount in jail as cuba well well why dont you compart the size of the usa to the tiny island of cuba.
And explore whats jail is like there great im sure..

Next for the cuba lovers please move there and stay if its so much better.

If the healrh care is so great and its such a crime free paradise with such cival freedoms housing and great food and quality of living why are people not flocking from America to live there or the Caribbean or south america or the muslum world .

Maybe its because it sucks there so much and thats why so many cubans have risked thier lives to get to Florida where I live .
I know common sense something thats hard to deny

Cubans can not:

• Travel abroad without government permission.

• Change jobs without government permission.

• Change residence without government permission.

• Access the Internet without government permission (the Internet is closely monitored and controlled by the government. Only 1.67% of the population has access to the Internet).

• Send their children to a private or religious school (all schools are government run, there are no religious schools in Cuba).

• Watch independent or private radio or TV stations (all TV and radio stations are owned and run by the government). Cubans illegally watch/listen to foreign broadcasts.

• Read books, magazines or newspapers, unless approved/published by the government (all books, magazines and newspapers are published by the government).

• Receive publications from abroad or from visitors (punishable by jail terms under Law 88).

• Visit or stay in tourist hotels, restaurants, and resorts (these are off-limits to Cubans).

• Seek employment with foreign companies on the island, unless approved by the government.

• Run for public office unless approved by Cuba’s Communist Party.

• Own businesses, unless they are very small and approved by the government and pay onerous taxes.

• Join an independent labor union (there is only one, government controlled labor union and no individual or collective bargaining is allowed; neither are strikes or protests).

• Retain a lawyer, unless approved by the government.

• Choose a physician or hospital. Both are assigned by the government.

• Refuse to participate in mass rallies and demonstrations organized by the Cuban Communist Party.

• Criticize the Castro regime or the Cuban Communist Party, the only party allowed in Cuba.

Cuban medical internationalism is the Cuban programme, since the 1959 Cuban Revolution, of sending Cuban medical personnel overseas, particularly to Latin America, Africa and, more recently, Oceania,[1] and of bringing medical students and patients to Cuba. In 2007, "Cuba has 42,000 workers in international collaborations in 103 different countries, of whom more than 30,000 are health personnel, including no fewer than 19,000 physicians."[2] Cuba provides more medical personnel to the developing world than all the G8 countries combined,[2] although this comparison does not take into account G8 development aid spent on developing world healthcare. The Cuban missions have had substantial positive local impact on the populations served.[3] It is widely believed that medical workers are Cuba's most important export commodity.[4]

I see you ignored my point about social safety nets.

Yes, actually.

Again, the only jail on the island to which you can be sent without a trial is run by the US government.

Local folks told us of rampant poverty in Cuba, of professionals who moonlight in the tourist industry because they can't make a living on their government salaries. But we didn't see beggars in the streets -- as we do in Las Vegas -- and no one living beneath the bridges.

More facts about life in Cuba? The Cuban government subsidizes food, housing and utilities. Education, including university level, is free. Cuba has a 99.8 percent literacy rate; classroom size is 12-1. By contrast, in Nevada we've cut funding for public education again this year; in Las Vegas, some classroom teacher-pupil ratios have swollen to 35-1.

From the beginning, the revolutionary government set health care as a priority. Today, Cuba has 70,000 qualified doctors; the whole of Africa has 50,000. Population of Cuba: 11.2 million; population of Africa: 1.1 billion. Medical care is free in Cuba -- though people do complain of longs waits for specialty care, and of the need to supplement the struggling physicians' pay with gifts. And worse: of deteriorating facilities and the lack of medicines. Thus, the need for us bring medical supplies to Jewish sponsored clinics.

The average monthly salary in Cuba rose 17 per cent between 2006-2011 to the equivalent of $19, the state statistics office said Monday.
That meant the average monthly wage of workers in Cuba -- where the Communist-ruled state controls more than 90 per cent of the economy -- climbed from the equivalent of $16 a month in 2006 to $19 last year, the office said on its website.

pretty impressive no wonder so many people want to move there.I understand its now closer to 20 to 25 bucks a month.
maybe this explains why there are no cars there and nothing to steal

Good name. You are easily triggered, my dear.

You know, there are no end of great places in the world. Why are you troubled by our looking at the differences between Cuba and our homes, and wondering if these different approaches might work here? Our health care is better than yours or Cuba's, western housing prices are shocking, most people can and do get higher education. Canada has gobs of good stuff, and so does Cuba.
#15004571
Yes the united states is obviously a failure thats why a estimated 20 million from south America alone have come here and a million or more a year still do .
O yes cuba has 11 million citizens.
Odd how we had 1.3 million cubans here. Over 10 percent of Cubans. There must be some mistake.
Seems the number of people from Cuba is increasing.

I cant understand why that is.
They earn 11 cents a hour and if the goverment didnt provide subsidies for food they would starve to death .and the housing pictures I posted show how great the homes are and the bicycles are so much better then our cars.
Not to mention your rights there. Yes its the paradise that makes America look bad .now way to better yourself to any extent poverty crumbling inter structure no rights to freedom o yes its a great place.
#15004573
Now some one here put down America for having about 2 million in jails .we have about 350 million people.

Cuba has 100000 0lus in jail with a population of 11 million .about 1 in 100 people

We have about the same percentage.
But We have a drug issue . I doubt there is much of a drug problem in cuba .or gang crime.

O ues we dont arrest people for free speech or talking poop about the goverment . we dont shoot them for it either

Nobody's said the US is a failure. This thread is about Cuba.

Seems the number of people from Cuba is increasing.

Huh.Could be kids. Birth Control is free in Cuba, but fairly pricey Stateside.
#15004591
Obviously you have not been reading anything.
The thread was called cuba has proven that capitalism and technologies are a failure.

O ues I must be taking that out of contex like when celebritys talked about the assisanation of a president and locking his 10 year old boy up with a child moleater and his daughters with rapists.
No I didnt take it out of contex.
Its clear as the nose on your face and mine the person who started the thread is attacking nations that belive in capitalism and the advancements of tec industrys.

That pretty well describes The United States Of America.

Yes high tec in cuba is a 10 speed bicycle or a 70 year old car.

This thread is not about cuba but the twisted thoughts of a pers9n that thinks the free market is a failure and that technology should not be pursued and that a nation thats locked in the 50s is better.

None of you want to hear the truth that cuba is a communist nation suffering from poverty and human rights where the people are abused . a land where speaking out is a offense you can be jailed for.
You all make it sound like a magical paradise in your little socialist communist minds.
Its a nation with a crumbling infrastructure where the people make 11 cents a hour and are dependent on a abusive goverment which demands the people kiss the feet of thier masters.

Just proves that a strong welfare state for necessary things like health care and education are positive things.

Laissez-faire capitalism and communism are both failures, you need a mix of social programs & redistribution and capitalism. That;s proven time and again to be the most effective method.

Not when I was there.

I witnessed many Cubans complaining about their government.
