On the eve of the Robert Mueller hearings, Aaron Maté shares his top questions for the now former Special Counsel and savior figure.

1. Why did you suggest that juvenile clickbait from a Russian troll farm was part of a “sweeping and systematic” Russian government interference effort?

2. Are you still convinced that the GRU stole Democratic Party e-mails and transferred them to Wikileaks?

3. Why didn’t you interview Julian Assange?

4. Why did you imply that key figures were Russian agents, and leave out countervailing information, including their (more) extensive Western ties?

5. Why did you indict several Trump officials for perjury, but not Joseph Mifsud?

6. Why did you omit the fact that Rob Goldstone’s offer to Donald Jr.—”official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia” as “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump”—was “publicist puff” (in other words, a lie)?

7. Did the Trump campaign receive any Russian government offers of assistance from anyone actually acting on behalf of the Russian government?

8. Were US intelligence officials compromised by Russophobia?

I am surprised he didn't just say you were a racist. That is a big part of the liberal playbook today.

You know by that logic, Trump supporters wouldn't be Nazis. Right?

Godstud wrote:Trump isn't even a conservative, as was pointed out quite nicely by Drlee.

Indeed. That's why it's puzzling that the establishment hates him so much.

Anyway, it should be fun to see what horseshit the House is going to stir up tomorrow with Mueller. Undoubtedly, they'll think they've come away with good reason to impeach Trump and the country will continue to disagree with them.

 Establishment? Trump is only interested in the Establishment. He gave the tax cuts to billionaires, not to the people who actually needed it, after all. He's just more of the same but they packaged him better for the uneducated American morons who voted for him, thinking he was "different".

Trump has done nothing to make America better. Quite the opposite.

Poor people don't need tax cuts Godstud. They don't make any money. They need good paying jobs. Trump's taken care of that for a lot of people.

I didn't say "poor people". Reading comprehension problems, again?

Really? Good paying jobs, like the ones people got for working at Harley Davidson after it closed it's plant? Thato worked well, didn't it. More archaic and disproven "trickle down" economics masterminded by a moron.

Interestingly enough, my sister in law manages a local Harley shop; a shop that sells t-shirts and such in the historic district in town.

They're now building a full-blown dealership towards the north end of town, and my sister in law is going to be one of the departmental managers there. She's going to see a $24K a year raise in her salary.

So, yeah, Harley's doing okay...

At the expense of how many other jobs? You're ignoring the facts and basing your opinion only on anecdotal evidence.

I didn't say they were Nazis, I said many of them shared much of Hitler's philosophy.

So, Mueller is testifying soon. Although this'll obviously be a battle of the sound bytes, one possibility I haven't seen raised is that the delay in his testimony coincides interestingly with some recent revelations about Comey etc. Overall, I would think that Republicans might have some potentially more interesting questions to ask than Democrats will, things that have the potential to go beyond the 1-2 news cycle long sound bytes that the Democrats can get. We'll find out soon :)

Yeah, apparently the Democrats got nothing out of his testimony. He was so careful that they're trying to portray him as senile or as having not been in charge of the investigation. I guess we may finally be looking at the end of mainstream Russiagate.

Yeah @BigSteve, Godstud is totally right. Having a direct relationship with someone who works at Harley isn't the same as a third rate news report.

Beren wrote:I said many of them shared much of Hitler's philosophy.

Yeah. So do most Western politicians and many political activists. For example, Hitler was opposed to vivisection, just like PETA. Hitler was so anti-smoking that he objected to people lighting up in the same room. Today, smoking in public places is banned in many Western countries, but it happened first in Nazi Germany. Hitler commissioned the Volkswagen Beetle, which went on to become the most popular car in the world--even finding a loyal following among left wing hippies. They could drive those Volkswagens on freeways--also inspired by Nazi Germany's autobahns.

It wasn’t just hate. Fascism offered robust social welfare
Like fascism, the resurgent Right is irrational, close-minded, violent and racist. So goes the analogy, and there’s truth to it. But fascism did not become powerful simply by appealing to citizens’ darkest instincts. Fascism also, crucially, spoke to the social and psychological needs of citizens to be protected from the ravages of capitalism at a time when other political actors were offering little help.

The origins of fascism lay in a promise to protect people. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a rush of globalisation destroyed communities, professions and cultural norms while generating a wave of immigration. Right-wing nationalist movements promising to protect people from the pernicious influence of foreigners and markets arose, and frightened, disoriented and displaced people responded.

I understand it perfectly. I benefit mightily from globalism. I do not like the perniciousness of political correctness though. So disrupting the establishment is the new norm for me.

Hong Wu wrote:Although this'll obviously be a battle of the sound bytes, one possibility I haven't seen raised is that the delay in his testimony coincides interestingly with some recent revelations about Comey etc.

Well, it's clear now that the reason is that it's obvious that Mueller had little to do with the Mueller investigation. He's far more senile than Nancy Pelosi. He didn't even know who Fusion GPS was. One questioner remarked that we could learn more from a $50 cable news subscription than from the $25M Mueller report. It was a shame.

Finfinder wrote:Its not going very well for Bob Mueller.
Its worse for the Democrats more like a disaster.

It was worse than I thought it would be. Victor Davis Hansen remarked that went Comey, Strzok, etc. said "I don't remember" or "I don't recall", they were clearly lying. However, it was evident that when Bob Mueller said he didn't know, he really didn't know. It's also very obvious that he wasn't running the investigation.

Hong Wu wrote:Yeah, apparently the Democrats got nothing out of his testimony. He was so careful that they're trying to portray him as senile or as having not been in charge of the investigation. I guess we may finally be looking at the end of mainstream Russiagate.

Well people who knew him had to know that he wasn't in shape for this. Even Lindsay Graham said he knew and that's why he didn't call him to testify in the Senate. It's also been intimated that Bob Barr cleaned things up for Mueller, because it was clear to Barr that Mueller was just a figurehead used to put a "conservative Republican" face on what was an investigation conducted by highly partisan Democrats. Jim Jeffries questions regarding Christopher Steele were devastating. So much about Russia was apparently out of Mueller's purview, but not Paul Manafort's taxes from 2012. I almost felt bad for the guy. There's going to be some comeuppance for Weissman and crew.

Anyway, it seems like time for a little retrospective:

Congratulations to Finfinder for the opening line of the fourth post in this thread:

Finfinder wrote:No it should stay it will be a great reminder of how the left is so far lost. They don't have 1 piece of evidence that proves their conspiracy propaganda.

Still true 2+ years later. Well done sir!

Hong Wu in May 2017 wrote:After claiming they were hacked, the DNC refused to let the FBI examine their servers. One has to wonder how a full blown Russia investigation could be done without a full analysis of the servers the Russians are accused of hacking. This is another reason why I don't think a full Russian investigation is actually desired by the DNC. This is the same group that was caught smashing hard drives with hammers and so-on.

This is still the case. Well done sir! Mueller didn't even know who Fusion GPS was. He claimed that who Veselnitskaya met with before and after Trump Jr.--and the 3500 words he had to say about that--was outside of his purview and he didn't even know who Fusion GPS was. Incredible. Just incredible. As Catherine Herridge put it, that's counterintelligence 101. Let's be frank. Today was a fucking disaster for the Democrats. Nancy Pelosi, looking slightly less out of her wits than Mueller, was apparently unfazed. These people are straight up out to lunch.

Hong Wu in June 2017 wrote:Maybe it's time to let this thread die since the Russian story appears to have been based upon a completely fake NYT article.

Years later... It's simply incredible that they put the country through what Trump very accurately calls "total bullshit." My first post in this thread was here,

me in June 2017 wrote:Yes, but they {the deep state} are also getting outed in the process. Trump is demonstrating that many of them are not loyal to the American electorate. They are as happy to overthrow an American election as they are to overthrow one in the Ukraine, Peru, Nicaragua, etc.
...
The Democrats used to be competent, which is why Watergate was a basis upon which DC could overthrow the largest landslide in American history. They promote people based upon fealty now, not ability. There aren't a lot of highly accomplished Democrats in deep state. They are all teacher's pets. They look good on paper, but they can't stop Bradley Manning, Edward Snowden, Reality Winner or Seth Rich.

Shit! I wonder if Devin Nunes was reading my post, because he did exactly what I suggested.
me in June 2017 wrote:The only thing that could be more damaging is if we could get banking records showing how the payoffs occur. Then, it would be curtains for these people.

I swear, I don't have a relationship with Devin Nunes. That's how they unveiled Fusion GPS, etc.

me in June 2017 wrote:Well, jimjam admitted as much, that it's not really about Russia. It was just a pretext.

Well @jimjam, at least you are one of the few candid anti-Trumpers out there.

me in June 2017 wrote:I've said all along that it was unlikely the Russian state for precisely this reason. Indeed, it could be the American state. The recent leaks pointing to their hacking toolsets was probably a deep state fight for exactly that purpose. However, there is another telltale sign that it's a fake story. The DNC claims this is some criminal conspiracy, but they've kept the proverbial "smoking gun" (their own server) out of the hands of law enforcement. If they created this scheme themselves, perhaps with CIA front companies that purport to be technology service providers or IT security experts, then it cannot be said that the DNC furnished manufactured evidence to the FBI. From a legal standpoint, we don't even have evidence that Russia hacked the DNC, because the DNC refuses to turn their server over to the FBI for forensic examination.

That is pretty peculiar for people claiming there is some national security issue, and some sort of existential threat to our democracy...

What a ride, and it's not over for the deep state. These people are getting fucked in ways they never thought possible. It can't happen soon enough for me. The whole thing was from the American deep state... fuckers. Fuck 'em all. Fuck 'em!

blackjack21 wrote:Yeah. So do most Western politicians and many political activists.

But they don't share the same views with Hitler as Trump's fans do. Also, just because Hitler allegedly loved children, you don't have to be a Fascist to love children, which is the same with welfarism. You also don't have to be a Nazi to be an ardent anti-Semite or a racist that believes in a superior Aryan race. Finally, Hitler was a human being too.

I really don't get what you want with this.
