The meaning, of course, is that justice should be impartial, and will balance competing rights and interests.

A famous show about this was titled: The Constitution, That Delicate Balance. The idea extends beyond the courtroom.

This is the second empty piece of tour-guide sloganeering that you have uselessly provided this thread.

Media diversity mean nothing if most people aren't exposed to various points of view. In rich Western countries, there is a majority block of "voters" who only interact with commercially oriented propaganda. So even if a few hapless geeks like me can access Algerian Military media and TeleSur, it doesn't mean that a majority of the people are getting enough information to make informed decisions.

And if they're not, we're not a democracy. We're a fool-me-I'm-an-idiot-cracy. That's why commercial media is such a disaster for democracy. And different colored faces reading the same scripts doesn't help, it just helps spread the lies to other demographics who wouldn't have responded to some pasty white avatar.

Then you should give up, it's hopeless.

It isn't that simple, of course. There are always other voices. They can break through.

One odd correlation is that between freedom and support for public media. Progressives like Liz Warren would support public media, if for no other reason than to pull the fangs of the Koch brothers out of it's neck. Public tv and radio still offer some good programming, but not as much as they used to.

So you do have a choice.

I rather doubt you will avail yourself of the opportunity, but there it is.

The USA's public media is among the worst of any developed country on earth.

The USA's commercial media has a narrower range of opinions and interests than the worst dictatorships in history.

I TA'ed a course on Media for five years, and the only hope is to destroy the media and economy we have now because our media is all manipulative entertainment propaganda, and it's all controlled by corporations.

That I read Algerian army publications and Russian media and other alternative voices doesn't help other people "avail themselves" of alternative media. IT takes more time to search for alternative voices than most working people have.

And if a handful of university students get to scan "alternative media," that won't eliminate the generalized media-caused ignorance that is all around us.

And yet not so much as a peep about doing something about it.

Politics is the art of the possible. Wishing for unicorns is one thing. Actually making things better is another.

USA has a very liberal, and criminal supporting media.

USA media is obsessed with violence via sports like "Boxing," or "Wrestling." USA media manipulates for hyper capitalist culture, it brainwashes its watchers and supporters to support capitalism so they can keep the capitalists in power.

LOL, are you for real? I mean are you serous? I'll be honest, if you really believe what you posted above, I sincerely advise that you escape from whatever establishment you are incarcerated in, and wake the fuck up :)

The USA media, being totally dependent on bribes (advertising dollars) from corporations, is a mouthpiece for the worst tyranny in human history - the one that will genocide the entire world while its dazed viewers smile at sitcoms and enjoy the jaw-dropping antics of all those brats in their fancy, botoxed cameos.

CNN uses paid military contractors (retired generals) to sell wars, not even telling people the "analyst" they invited on sells a product that he is promoting.

Other networks use light, drama, and the perfect audience in the psychological damage of the suburban experience... to get lots of working class schmoes to admire corrupt rich people.

Crime drama helps to create all the racial stereotypes that America's elite NEEDS to justify killing for'ners all over the world.

You need to escape from the liberal establishment that liberal media rules are incarcerated you in. You need to escape the Zionist media rulers that you are following. You need to escape capitalist manipulation and social propaganda. You need to "wake up" from capitalism and the bourgeoisie.

I agree. It is economic profit driven, and its media is created in a manipulative manner to be sold. The over priced clothing in the media manipulates people to buy the clothes that the media promotes.

Yes exactly. Working class schmoes are being brainwashed by the leaders of the liberal media who are being payed by those corrupt rich people.

Exactly. Nicely summarized!
(But not just working class shmoes - all of us who interact with manipulative media products)

But working class schmoes (and all other viewers) also learn from media++, that they themselves (the viewer) are much more like Superman, Spiderman, or some Disney Princess or Super-lawyer on TV -- than they are like some drooling idiot sitting in front of a screen being programmed.

And this allows media to programme its own defense into the opinions of its own victims. Another layer of manipulation.

Yes this is true. Wealthier American celebrities are an example. Wealthier business owners who's products are influenced by the manipulative media products are another example.

Yes this is true. Those fictional characters are designed and portrayed in a psychological manner to manipulate watchers to be influenced by them, and to manipulate them to think that they should resemble and follow them. Those fictional characters also promote bourgeoisie values such as hyper masculinity (Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Green Goblin, etc.) or submissive values and anti feminist politics for women (Cinderella, Snow White, etc.). Many of those fictional characters come from the American media, such as comics, movies, or television broadcasts. This media became more popular after the Second World War, when the United States started to become much more hostile towards socialism.
