There is a real conflict between the demands of politics, and the demands of justice. You can see it play out in the constant failure of impeachment to ever actually impeach.

I have been thinking of starting a thread titled 'pulling the bandaid off slowly'.

Pelosi has good reasons to do this, and move on.

At the same time, it lets guys like you blather on about crime. As if High Crime didn't exist, as if Trump wouldn't already be wearing orange if he wasn't president.

We should have gone over everything. There should have been a Stormy Daniels week. Go over all of it, bring in Cohen and have him talk. Bring in a variety of legal experts to talk about how Trump is just as guilty as Cohen.

we could have a Lev week, a Sergei week, a Deutschebank week. You get the idea, this would go on for a couple months, at least.

But we would save the best for last. Hopefully after the FBI indicts him.

Giuliani week.

Be careful what you wish for.

SpecialOlympian wrote:Yes blackjack it was a very smart post and very normal of you to start posting videos of black people being murdered in a thread where the topic had nothing to do with that.

You just don't understand sardonic humor, because these people were killed, not murdered. Their behavior is what brought it on. Do you find this upsetting that charging a police officer with a machete could get you shot and killed? Do you think police officers should allow you to charge at them with deadly weapons? Why don't you think this is funny?

SpecialOlympian wrote:You are extremely normal

Normal isn't extreme by definition.

SpecialOlympian wrote:I honestly can't tell if it's just normal honkey aggression and lack of impulse control or if it's directed specifically at me.

Your concept of white genocide is quite funny. Police officers shooting people who charge at them with deadly weapons can also be quite funny, especially when people criticize the police without taking into account the behavior of the perpetrator.

Julian658 wrote:Judging people according to skin color is now acceptable? :knife: :knife: :knife:

With the political left in America, it's a requirement. I hope you're not in London. Using knife icons will probably be banned there soon enough, as it might inspire people to commit crimes.

StormSmith wrote:I don't see why the right wing has their knickers in a knot over President Trump's impeachment.

Nobody does. Most people are amused at this point. I think it has to suck to be a Congressman right now sitting in those hearings all day, but otherwise Trump supporters think the whole thing is a joke. @jimjam is watching it though. Heck, the stock market is going up. Nobody cares about this at all.

late wrote:There is a real conflict between the demands of politics, and the demands of justice.

Were you a lawyer, car salesman, or what? Impeachment is not justice. It's just removing someone from power.

late wrote:You can see it play out in the constant failure of impeachment to ever actually impeach.

You mean to ever actually remove from office. The most politically charged impeachment was obviously Andrew Johnson, and it nearly succeeded. Clinton's had the most clearly defined criminal offenses. Nixon wasn't impeached, but his political support collapsed after the way he handled matters. By contrast, Trump's support is growing.

late wrote:As if High Crime didn't exist, as if Trump wouldn't already be wearing orange if he wasn't president.

He wasn't wearing orange before he became president. You guys are always trying to spin up this sort of criminal life of Donald Trump narrative, where only but for sharp attorneys is this guy not in jail. Yet, he's never been charged with any serious crimes before. His cases are primarily civil in nature.

late wrote:There should have been a Stormy Daniels week.

As Al Green points out, you aren't limited to one impeachment. Why don't you try to impeach him over Stormy Daniels after this fiasco is over? I think that would be great!

late wrote:Go over all of it, bring in Cohen and have him talk.

It has already been done, but if you want an encore, have at it... Why not bring in Stormy Daniels and have her testify to the mushroom shaped penis? That would do wonders for the Democrats, I think.

late wrote:Bring in a variety of legal experts to talk about how Trump is just as guilty as Cohen.

Yeah, because Americans love sitting in front of their TVs listening to legal experts testify to Congress. Frankly, that's more boring than listening to golf on the radio. Did you not just see what happened in the last week? Jerry Nadler was dozing off while chairing his own hearings. This stuff is dead boring. It's calamitously soporific, which I suppose is good if you have insomnia.

late wrote:we could have a Lev week, a Sergei week, a Deutschebank week. You get the idea, this would go on for a couple months, at least.

I think after this impeachment fails, you should take up the banner and lead that campaign. You will be greatly rewarded in November 2020.

late wrote:But we would save the best for last. Hopefully after the FBI indicts him.

Yeah, that would be interesting since the FBI doesn't have the power to indict anyone.

late wrote:Be careful what you wish for.

You mean like wishing the Democrats in the House get wiped out in November 2020?

1) It's the constitutionally mandated remedy for an abuse of power. It is the system of justice our Founding Fathers gave us.

2) Cohen is in jail, and Trump is every bit as guilty. There are several other offenses he is likely to be charged with, once he stops being president.

Why do you think it's bad that the cops killed the guy with the machete?

From what I can tell, they did their best to avoid doing that. The cop who fell in the street was perfectly justified in shooting at the guy with the machete.

It's pretty simple: I value the life of the cop over the life of the person wanting to kill the cop.

You will never, ever blame a suspect who's black. You've made that remarkably clear. But, if it comes down to a cop laying in the street or a black (or green or blue or chartreuse) guy standing over that cop with a machete, I say gun the fucker with the blade down and let him die in the street. It has nothing to do with skin color, and everything to do with police rightfully protecting their own.

His skin colors matters not...

"It means that we have systems and institutions that produce racially disparate outcomes, regardless of the intentions of the people who work within them. When you consider that much of the criminal-justice system was built, honed and firmly established during the Jim Crow era — an era almost everyone, conservatives included, will concede rife with racism — this is pretty intuitive. The modern criminal-justice system helped preserve racial order — it kept black people in their place.

In any case, after more than a decade covering these issues, it’s pretty clear to me that the evidence of racial bias in our criminal-justice system isn’t just convincing — it’s overwhelming."

What follows is a list of studies that show racism. This is one of those things that rarely see the light of day, beyond the most superficial description. But if you start looking at those studies, it's astonishing.

If a black guy with a machete is charging a white cop with a gun, I fully support that white cop with the gun killing the black guy with the machete.

But here's the thing: If it was a white guy with a machete charging a black cop with a gun, I would fully support the black cop with the gun killing the white guy with the machete...

I didn't talk about that case, and I am not going to.

I was pointing out that racism is a massive problem. One that is extensively documented.

As are you.

You ignore the fact that there are idiots in this world who would rather see a black man hack up a white cop with a machete then see the white cop defend himself.

Do you think the black guy with the machete was murdered?

Robert DiNiro is IMO one of the greatest actors of all time. The man is a genius. Here is his take on Donald: "Trump has people who follow him who are crazy and want to do crazy things. What we’re doing in film, it’s like a dream. We know it’s not real. There are people who will take anything to be real and that we have no control over. The president is supposed to set an example of trying to do the right thing. Not be a nasty little bitch. Because that’s what he is. He’s a petulant little punk. There’s not one thing that I see in him or his family, not any redeeming qualities. They’re out on the take. It’s like a gangster family."

Perfect. An impeachable offense if I ever saw one.

O.K. BJ21 , that's your que. Now tell us how this would not stand up in a court of law or some such nonsense that is, as usual for you, completely besides the point  .

SpecialOlympian wrote:I didn't bother to read any of this. The way you quote so many people in desperate hope of a response makes you Admin Edit: Rule 2 Violation.

Donald Trump's shortcomings do not overshadow the Democratic Party's shortcomings, or the political left's abandonment of white working class voters. Whilst you laugh at the political right in the United States, they are returning the gesture and laughing at you. Did you notice in the UK that Labour lost Tony Blair's seat? Your views are that unpopular.

Et Tu, U.K.?
Labour’s wipeout in yesterday’s British election highlights the transnational defection of the white working class and deepens the global crisis of the social democratic left.

In spite of all the collateral attacks on people and institutions and a compliant press, your side is losing and losing bigly.

All unhappy social democratic parties are alike: They’ve lost the white working class.

Britain’s Labour Party was decimated in its working-class home last night, when Boris Johnson’s nativist Tories ousted one Labour MP after another in England’s North, once the U.K.’s industrial heartland, today its rust belt. The migration of Britain’s abandoned workers to the anti-immigrant nationalism at the root of Brexit closely tracks the pattern we’ve seen in France, where the longtime proletarian strongholds of the French Communist Party have turned to the insular nationalism of two generations of Le Pens in recent elections. And in the historic home of European social democracy, Germany, the world’s oldest social democratic party is polling close to single digits.

They still don't get it either. It's because the left has become blatantly anti-white, and white working class voters clearly understand that now.

late wrote:1) It's the constitutionally mandated remedy for an abuse of power. It is the system of justice our Founding Fathers gave us.

It's not a system of justice. The system of justice is article three courts and the bill of rights. It's just a remedy for executive officers who represent a clear and present danger to the Republic. Trump represents no such danger, so there is no chance of achieving a 2/3rds vote. The reason for this exercise is that if the Democrats don't do it, they face political defection from the left. If they do it, they face defection from the centrists. They fear that the leftist factions represented by Bernie Sanders will form a third party, so they are going that way right now with the hope of another Bill Clinton (not Hillary Clinton) in the future to suture up the gaping wound.

late wrote:2) Cohen is in jail, and Trump is every bit as guilty. There are several other offenses he is likely to be charged with, once he stops being president.

Why would anybody care about what happens to him after he stops being president? Jimmy Carter admitted to having lust in his heart. Should we open an investigation? He's not dead yet. It's not too late for justice to be done!

late wrote:3) You mean after he cheats his way into a second term. Justice delayed is justice denied.

No. I mean like starting in January 2020. Please continue this course of action. You need to have the courage of your convictions. Don't quit just because the Senate is going to acquit. Put Stormy Daniels on the stand--at least Jerry Nadler won't fall asleep in his own hearing.

late wrote:But if you start looking at those studies, it's astonishing.

And if you look at the videos, do you think the police might have a point? I think one of the actions we have to applaud Barack Obama for is making police wear body cameras. Now the police have to mind their P's and Q's a bit more, but it also shows that people claiming police brutality, bias, racism, etc. are often straight up lying. That's interesting too, but it doesn't seem to be getting much coverage in the mainstream press.

BigSteve wrote:But here's the thing: If it was a white guy with a machete charging a black cop with a gun, I would fully support the black cop with the gun killing the white guy with the machete...

Exactly...

late wrote:I didn't talk about that case, and I am not going to.

Well, we should open up a thread on that as we're drifting off topic, but funny that I showed two different videos of people charging the cops with deadly weapons and you have nothing to say--probably, because you'd have to agree with the cops on this one.

late wrote:As is usually the case, you have things backwards.

Fix the disease, and the symptoms will abate.

The police have to wear body cameras now. So now we get to see first hand what they're dealing with, and a bunch of biased documentation meant to sympathize with violence from minority communities towards police officers is also substantiated. It's unfair for a black person to be treated badly by the police just because of their skin color, and it's important to train the police to review their own reactions and conditioning and guard against them becoming unfair to people simply because of their skin color. However, that isn't as easy as you think. As I've pointed out before, even artificial intelligence is racist and it doesn't have a prejudicial interest in race, because AI is not a race and is not implicitly white.

Anyway, while this is somewhat off-topic, it does underscore why the media is unsuccessful in trying to undermine political support for Trump. The bottom line is that the political left in the United States is no longer seen as legitimate by huge swaths of the population who used to be loyal to the political left.

A study done at Harvard shows that cops shoot blacks and whites with the same manner when one corrects for percent of the population and number of contacts with the police. The study was done by a Harvard black economist Roland G. Fryer.

Cops shoot blacks in the same manner they shoot whites.
