I suspect some of the players in this whole debacle will end up in jail.

I don't think Trump will be one of them...

The president attempted to interfere in an election by instigating a false investigation into one of his potential opponents. Why is Adam Schiff the bad guy in this situation? What is wrong with you?

BigSteve wrote:Here's the bottom line: The person leading the impeachment hearings lied about contact with the person who was the catalyst behind those impeachment hearings.

That's a really, really big problem.

Now, if someone Canuck living in his Mom's basement doesn't think it is, we don't care. Your opinion means nothing.

Schiff needs to be put under oath so he can say one of two things which will have similar outcomes.

1 - He says, under oath, that neither he nor anyone on his committee have contact with the whistleblower. Then we put the whistleblower on the stand to say that, in fact, he did. Schiff is outed as a liar but, more importantly, the impeachment hearings are sullied and quite possibly un-Constitutional. Schiff is then charged with perjury and obstruction of justice as a result of that perjury.

2 - Schiff admits to having had contact with the whistleblower. Then he's asked why he lied about it during the impeachment proceedings. His admission will then sully the impeachment hearings and possibly render them un-Constitutional.

In either case, the worst p[ossible thing for Trump is that it can be shown that the democrats acted deviously throughout the hearings and, as such, no one will really give a shit about the impeachment.

See, that's why libs don't want the whistleblower to take the stand. Ciaramella and Schiff both have their versions of the truth, and only one of them isn't Hell bent on removing Trump from office.

Either way, your opinion means nothing...

You do not seem to get it.

Let us take this one step at a time.

Who is on trial?

What's false about it? Trump only asked for an investigation. He didn't dictate the result of the investigation.
What is wrong with you?

 Why are you so nieve? Do you think Hunter Biden really got that job because of his ability?

Your experience with Mensa? What experience is that?

Oh wait. Now you are going to claim to have known lots of them.

I have been immersed in Mexican politics lately...so not up to speed on Trump impeachment.

I am heading to the USA consulate tomorrow to see if I can register to vote from here in time. Looks like I can? Good news.

I will vote for a socialist. Surprise. Lol.

I wonder who will win the Democratic nomination? I don't know.

I do know I will vote only if I like the Leftist candidate. Biden is not it. Bernie? Yes. Elizabeth Warren? I will sit on it for a while. Lol.

I hope they drag that pig of a president into the mud and sling every damn thing at him and make his life a living hell.

He is the worst!

The Mexicans would love for him to be the 3rd prez in American history to be impeached....and get forced out.

If they are successful? I will go and have two cocktails. A mojito with some Cubans and a margarita with some Mexicans.

I will smile and be happy! Trump pig got his ass kicked. A cause for celebration!!

I've met six people who've claimed to be members of Mensa. I believed two of them. Six just seems like a lot for one person to meet, considering that tht there are, what, less than 200,000 members, if that?

One of them was my Divo on my ship in the Middle East. That guy was so intelligent it was frightening. He never flaunted it, though, and only ever mentioned once his affiliation with the group. Joe Polanin (I think he retired as a two star) was a good dude and one of the best officers I ever had the pleasure of working for.

The other, Tom Alstead, was on my first ship. While he was highly intelligent, he had the common sense of a sea slug. He didn't know how to change the oil in his car or how to read air pressure on a tire. It was downright comical.

The other four I believe were like ol' Drlee here. They said they were members of Mensa but figured they'd never have to actually prove it, so it didn't matter what they said.

But other than their claim, there was no reason to believe them to be members...

If I recall, auto mechanics and vehicle maintenance are not on the Sanford Binet IQ test. Imagine that?

On the other hand, did you know @BigSteve that highly intelligent people tend to be far more empathetic than average or below average people?

Funny you should say that. I can only think of one member of Mensa, that I have have known was a member of Mensa, that was my son's mother. She thought I was frighteningly intelligent. On the other hand several of the lefties on the forum have suggested that basically I'm mentally retarded. :) I wonder whose view lies closer to the truth. I think I'm smart, but of course that could just be another sign of my own stupidity. It doesn't real matter whether I'm right, or not, as all that matters to my happiness is that I think I'm smart. And so even if I wasn't smart, as I haven't been disabused of the notion by now, it seems unlikely that anything's likely to destroy my illusion in the future.

Who the fuck gives a shit about Hunter Biden? People dumb enough to fall for Impeached President Trump's con job obviously. I never even knew the guy existed until Donald dreamed up his latest con.

Ability? I hear that Jared Kushner will bring peace to the mid east. Ability? Ivanka Trump … "advisor" to the potus

naïve (in the extreme)

I agree that we should talk about political failsons. Let's talk about Jared Kushner, who came into his position with no qualifications and over a billion dollars of business debt due to his incompetence. Let's talk about why he had to repeatedly amend his security clearance application because he kept omitting details.

If you care about corruption then you should care about Biden's crack smoking failson as much as you care about Kushner, the boy wonder who is in charge of brokering peace between Israel and Palestine.

It is very boring to listen to the same old lies from the Democrats. I think the Republicans are going to be so sick of hearing about it by next week that they will vote to acquit the President to get it over with. That will mean that nervous Nancy will be wrong about Trump being impeached forever. Once he is acquitted, he is no longer impeached.

People who think the system is rigged against them will care about it. Also, people who believe that politicians are not responsive to the will of the people and are looking for causes of the non-responsiveness will find corruption stories appealing.

jimjam wrote:I never even knew the guy existed until Donald dreamed up his latest con.

He kept a lower profile due to his long-term problems with drugs. Apparently, Hunter has a love child with a stripper. That's kind of cool. I'll bet Donald Trump invites the stripper and love child to the debates just to piss off Joe Biden.

Neither of them are on the public payroll.

Hindsite wrote:It is very boring to listen to the same old lies from the Democrats.

Yea. I find the whole thing quite boring too. I'd like to get excited about it, but it's like watching a football game on DVR when you already know the outcome of the game. If the Democrats think they can come up with more witnesses and evidence, they should go back to the House and get back to work. Making the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court sit through this mindless psychobabble is ludicrous.

No. He's been impeached. Twice. And that's forever. Same as Bill Clinton.

Although Bill Clinton was not removed, he was not acquitted of the crime of perjury. In the case of President Trump, he has not even been charged with a crime in this partisan impeachment by the Democrats. An impeachment is like a grand jury indictment. If the trial does not convict the defendant of a crime, the indictment goes away with the acquittal verdict. The same is true of an impeachment, with an acquittal by the Senate.

Nonsense, Bill Clinton was acquitted by the Senate both on the charge of perjury and the charge of obstruction of justice. Neither got a simple majority.

From what I have seen of it. It appears that "tiny fingered, Cheeto-faced, ferret wearing shitgibbons” are a protected species.

The trial is an exercise in obstruction by republicans. They have no intention of judging the evidence. None at all. It is a monumental political mistake on the part of the democrats. It virtually hands the election to Trump. It is the best thing that could have happened to his campaign.
