@skinster this city is filled with Cubans. A lot of them live here and I get to talk to them all the time.
Cubans and Yucatecans have some passionate arguments all the time. But, I have had even more passionate ones.
Lol. Cubans in general are very educated people. Mexicans are a lot less formally educated. In general.
But both groups tend to be very creative problem solvers. It makes for interesting street and small micro business scenes. There are Cubans practicing medicine, selling things, owning restaurants, growing oranges, opening all kinds of services. They are highly sought after for diabetes, cancer treatments, dental work, geriatric care, pediatrics, and administration for many large and small businesses. It is also very common to have them working in the arts and in sports here in Mexico. Baseball coaches, swim coaches, women's volleyball coaching, and everything you can think of in dance, ballet, tap, salsa, modern, classical chamber music, and so much more.
In fact, I got to argue with the Mexicans all the time here who insist I am Cuban....and I am not.
They are used to Cubans not Puerto Ricans. It is interesting.
