Let us just focus on here and now.

That's kind of dumb. The White House is a building. The anthropomorphisms don't make sense when you're making allegations. In the Vietnam War, the Vietcong and the NVA were the likely culprits killing American soldiers.

Sigh.

Vietnam was a mistake that 4 or 5 presidents made, depending on how you look at it.

It was a mistake made at the highest level that got tens of thousands killed, same way Trump's many mistakes will kill tens of thousands of people that wouldn't have died if we had had a competent president. Or even a half assed one like Bush2.

This is a very SJWsque post.

It is like posting on a kindergarten wall.

Why do you guys root for doom and gloom?

Because I am a health care person and this is not an intellectual exercise for me?

It is not worth it and it is not working. Debating with a "what if" is not a sound technique

Who is doing that? Only Trump's profoundly unintelligent supporters are betting on the come line.

Your credentials are not that important if you are not objective and let your emotions take over. It is also the appeal to authority debate fallacy.
Reason is, and ought only to be the slave of the passions, and can never pretend to any other office than to serve and obey them.

Acrimonious remarks are not an argument. What would you do differently from Trump? Be specific! Just saying I am a health professional is not enough.

I would have implemented free testing immediately. If the kits were not available, then I would have set up labs with technicians for testing samples that were mailed in by doctors.

I also would not have required proof of legal residency for people being tested.

I would have listened to the security briefings that warned that this could be a problem.

I would have paid attention when the previous administration tried to advise me about this.

I would have listened to experts and agreed with them.

I would act as a role model of social distancing.

I would have created a social safety net for people who lose their jobs.

The list goes on....

Ha, ha, even Mao was a Nazi. You guys have high standards. How about Ché Guevara?

I like how the My Pillow guy is at this press conference, telling people about the My Pillow business, because Trump saw his commercials on Fox News and figured he must be really smart or something.

Also lmbo @ Julian. "Reason must be slave to the passions, which is why I support a senile man in clown makeup who wraps his mullet around his head to hide his baldness."

"Vietnam was a mistake" is also a mantra just like, "we never should have been there in the first place". Kennedy's Inaugural Address clearly said that the US would pay any price and bear any burden. That's where the significant military conflict started. Hell, the US used to supply Ho Chi Minh with arms during WWII.

It wasn't a mistake. It was intentional.

Well, this is kind of a self serving past tense litany. You can't just implement free testing when you don't even have a test developed. If you've outsourced your testing-making to foreign countries, you can't just snap your fingers and make things happen.

Pants-of-dog wrote:I also would not have required proof of legal residency for people being tested.

Uh huh. That seems kind of pointless.

Listened to them or delegated the power to make decisions to others?

Even when they were manufacturing false charges against you to get you removed from office?

Well, I think we understand why you will never be president. Would you listen to scientific experts testifying on behalf of the tobacco industry? Experts can be paid off, and frequently are paid to advance special interests.

Damn look at all the geniuses coming out to defend Trump here.

"What would you have done?"

"Anything other than ignore it and hope it goes away."

"Oh yeah but the president doesn't do anything! Carnegie built dozens of iron foundries without laying a single brick explain that genius."

That is not an argument. The appearance or age of Trump does not matter. In fact that is bigotry and ageism. You think about racism 24/7 so you should know better. :knife: :knife:

Since this is exactly what some countries did, using the test protocols published by the WHO in January. The information required to test was available to all labs at that date.

In Canada, the tests were originally all sent to the NRC lab in Winnipeg, but as the cases expanded regionally, each province began setting up their own labs. Here in Alberta, we are using a lab here at the University of Alberta.

The conservative government here massively cut funding to this lab, and fired one of the specialised cleaning staff as a cost saving measure.

Uh huh. That seems kind of pointless.

The only thing that Trump did early was institute a travel ban from China. Since that date, undocumented migrants from China continue to arrive.

Listened to them or delegated the power to make decisions to others?

Since Trump did neither, this is not a relevant question.

Trump did not listen to the CDC, nor did he empower the CDC to take emergency measures.

Even when they were manufacturing false charges against you to get you removed from office?

Even if we believe your incredibly stupid victim narrative, yes. The POtUS should be able to listen to good advice even if it comes from an opponent.

Well, I think we understand why you will never be president. Would you listen to scientific experts testifying on behalf of the tobacco industry? Experts can be paid off, and frequently are paid to advance special interests.

Since there are no special interests to advance in this scenario (except for everyone’s obvious agenda to stay healthy), the assumption that epidemiologists and other experts are secretly trying to oppress you is actually just a far fetched ad hominem.

Drlee wrote:On the contrary. It is quite useful. The only thing Trump cares about is public opinion.

If that were true than it is equally as true to say things like all medical doctors care about is getting paid and buying Porsche's, therefore their opinions are tainted.

I always look forward to my daily dose of virtue and preachings.

I am pretty sure they did a commemorative one for Trump too. I seem to remember it but just can't find it. I also remember emailing the Hillary Time Magazine photo to my uncle and I whined about the point of voting when it already had been decided. I was pretty black pilled right at that moment.

Then a few hours later...BAM
