Where is the relevance?

The relevance is that the Leftist elites in this country are ignoring the real problem to focus their national outrage on a virtual nonissue. And even their focus is misdirected, making it all about racism instead of asking why someone like George Floyd’s murderer was still on the force at all. But that wouldn’t fit the meme of “Cops hate Blacks!” that they need to gin up votes. Democrats desperately need racial division to win elections.

Drlee wrote:I see Doug64 has run another Washington Times hit piece.

Since when is a straight-up news report about a new PAC formed by retired cops for the purpose of fighting the Defund Police movement at the ballot box a “hit piece”?

wat0n wrote:What would such mobilization accomplish? Will the gangs and other forms of organized crime disappear if communities took to the streets to demand... Demand what, anyway?

@Pants-of-dog is correct in that regard: The communities do obviously care about the affairs in their neighborhoods. And some members of them do in fact organize at that level to try to improve the situation, to try to get their youth to avoid getting involved with gangs (it should be noted that most gang members are adults, which is more consistent with gangs being organized crime closer to the Mafia than just some low-level bands of unruly teens).

And when those activists become too problematic they simply get executed (this example is noteworthy to me because I used to live like 3 blocks away from where he was murdered at the time).

I’m not denying that there are people at the community level doing what they can, I salute their courage. But they’ve been fighting the good fight without the backing of the Leftist elites both in governments and in the MSM(D). And yes, public awareness campaigns, including protests, can go a long way to fixing the problem—the first step is to recognize that the problem exists and prioritizing finding solutions, after all.

Mind, they’ve been generally fighting the good fight without the backing of the Conservative elites as well, for the Republicans this hasn’t been really considered their problem—those cities aren’t theirs, and neither are the voters. Rather shortsighted of them, but there you are.

i can point you to studies that provide empirical and verifiable evidence that Trump needs racism to win. Your irrelevant rant about “leftist elites” is not even logically connected to your racist arguments about “black on black crime”.

I’m not denying that there are people at the community level doing what they can, I salute their courage. But they’ve been fighting the good fight without the backing of the Leftist elites both in governments and in the MSM(D). So you are now saying that black people do focus on violent crime in their midst (like I argued) and that the media ignores them (as I argued) and you are even arguing that both parties ignore them.

All you have to do now is also accept that police brutality is a problem.

People are exhausted after 3.5 years of Trump's tweets, denigrations, insults, lies, bloviation, and overall hooligan-like behavior. Trump and the GOP have defined themselves to America and the world: unethical, greedy, divisive, corrupt, power-mad, conspiracy-based, inhumane, undiplomatic, anti-science, anti-facts, reactionary, regressive, bad for America and bad for the world.

Indeed, this has been a rather serious case of abandonment. Do you think it justifies an increased government response?

Trump, Captain of the Titanic, and his crew of Republican enablers: “There isn’t any iceberg. There was an iceberg but it’s in a totally different ocean. The iceberg is in this ocean but it will melt very soon. There is an iceberg but we didn’t hit the iceberg. We hit the iceberg, but the damage will be repaired very shortly. The iceberg is a Chinese iceberg. We are taking on water but every passenger who wants a lifeboat can get a lifeboat, and they are beautiful lifeboats. Look, passengers need to ask nicely for the lifeboats if they want them. We don’t have any lifeboats, we’re not lifeboat distributors. Passengers should have planned for icebergs and brought their own lifeboats. I really don’t think we need that many lifeboats and they’re supposed to be our lifeboats, not the passenger’s lifeboats. The lifeboats were left on shore by the last captain of this ship. Nobody could have foreseen this iceberg.”

RealClearPolitics wrote:As Clock Ticks, Trump Hints at Stone Pardon: ‘You Will See . . .'

By Philip Wegmann - RCP Staff |July 09, 2020

Convicted last June of seven felonies for obstructing a congressional inquiry and lying to investigators and trying to thwart the testimony of a witness, Stone now has just five days to report to a federal prison camp in Jesup, Ga. That is, unless the president intervenes.

Reached by phone while under house arrest in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., last week, Stone told RealClearPolitics that he doesn’t want to go. His age and a history of respiratory problems, he says, place him at greater risk of catching the Coronavirus, and he would like a pardon from his longtime friend and former boss.

“I guess if I had to make an appeal, it would be that on humanitarian grounds, as an act of mercy, as well as of justice, I would pray that the president uses his incredible powers of clemency,” said the president's onetime adviser.

When RCP put that question to the president in the Oval Office during an exclusive interview this week, Trump mostly demurred but hinted that he might get involved.

Actually, it is the best possible time for Trump. People back the ''strong horse''. A leader that is perceived as the ''strong horse'' rewards and looks after his friends and servants, motivating them to continue under his leadership. And if he feels he cannot or will not look after his friends and allies, people will lose enthusiasm for him rather quickly.

I said it before and I'll say it again, because of the criminal stupidity and delusional nature of his enemies, President Trump will win a second term to the Presidency in 2020.

And the strong horse is a 74-year-old guy that skipped draft due to bone spurs when he was young, spends his time picking up twitter fights with tiktok teenagers and folds to Nancy Pelosi over the wall's bluff?
This is your "strong horse"?

Sure, pardoning an extravagant criminal (dirty trickster :excited: ) like Stone will bode well with the general public, while his base won't consider him a chicken if he doesn't pardon him.

You folks (@Beren and @XogGyux ) are like the reactionary Bourbons after the French Revolution (the French Royal family, not the Alcoholic beverage) of which Talleyrand said of them that they ''forgot nothing and remembered nothing''.

Trump isn't ''my'' strong horse, my leader, he's yours, inside your head. And in the minds of his followers.

He knows your faults, your strategic, ideological, and tactical faults and weaknesses. He and those backing him behind the curtains, and they are taking full advantage of them.

I am a Socialist. But I repeat again that this Capitalist Plutocrat will remain President of the United States after 2020.

My thinking is that you won't accept it nor understand why it happened either. It's your fault, only your fault.

You are mistaken. I do understand why this moron became president.

Anyway, @annatar1914, which foot do you think Trump chooses to shoot himself in at that best possible time in this particular case?

@XogGyux ;

First of all, you think President Trump is a Moron... For him, that's fine that you and those like you to think that, because it gives you all the comfortable illusions that allow you to live in this ''reality'' you live in. I guess we'll just have to see after November 3rd.

@Beren ;

It's not a problem for Trump, he'll do something for Stone soon I'm sure. And nobody cares about Stone being in jail enough on the other side anyway, and those on the other side that do will probably be facing some jail time themselves, sooner or later.

Ah the hubris leads to nemesis. It reminds me of the saying; ''those whom the gods wish to destroy they first drive mad''.

I don't just "think" he is a moron. He actually is a moron.
That doesn't mean he cannot get elected, as it happens, a moron that wins the electoral college gets to be a moron president.

So you think he's going to pardon him, because that's what he can do for him. I'm of the same opinion too. He'll prefer his base to the general public because he can't win without them anyway, if he still hopes to, and it's them he can squeeze some money out of later. Maybe he can get the good will of some people that matter that way as well.

Apparently he just did.
Remember, the "law an order" president pardoning criminals, his criminal friends, without this criminal even showing a drop of remorse or even serving a portion of his sentence.
The cognitive dissonance is deafening.

I hear the Trumpfest in New Hampshire was cancelled. Blamed it on the weather. I guess they learned from the Trumpflop in Tulsa to spot a dud before hand. Looks like Don The Con is having difficulty getting off the ground. Good news tho …… we don't want that repulsive human in New England.

Either it was a tropical storm... or it was the crowd size. Of those two things... what sounds like the kind of thing Mr Donald would be more likely to cancel an event for?

Trump commuted Stone's sentence tonight. Barr fired another prosecutor. The entire republican Senate and house is corrupt. Not a soul speaking out. There is not a testicle among them.

They had better hope they keep the Senate. If they don't there will be a shit ton of them heading to jail.
