In my opinion, this is like a betrayal.
Russia trusted Ecuador with something.

But that being said, it seems doubtful the U.S. did not have other ways of obtaining access to this military hardware. Russia has been selling to many governments around the world. Doubt that Ecuador would have gotten something special the other countries did not.
