No seems to be able to confront what the consequences are of "ideological governance." What is this? It means that the government operates according to an ideology, rather than catering to the wants and needs of the people who are governed.

Here is a good example to demonstrate the dangers:

Lev Tahor were kicked out of Québec when it was found out that they were feeding children a diet that guaranteed malnutrition. This diet was a strict interpretation of a religious text (goose eggs and goose livers).

This is an ideological governance model.

So what happened to them after they were expelled (mainly by Montreal's Jewish community)?

Two senior leaders of an ultra-Orthodox sect formerly based in Quebec have been sentenced to 12 years in prison for orchestrating the 2018 kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy in New York state, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a statement Thursday.

Nachman Helbrans, 40 and Mayer Rosner, 45, known leaders of Lev Tahor, were convicted in November 2021 of child sexual exploitation offences and kidnapping, in a U.S. District Court in White Plains, N.Y.

They were found to have smuggled the children over the border to Mexico, in order to return the girl to a 20-year-old man considered within the sect to be her husband, for the purposes of facilitating the sexual exploitation of the girl, according to the statement.

They were eventually kicked out of the USA as well, and ran to Guatemala.

Spurred by officials in Israel, child-protection authorities in Guatemala have raided an ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect whose members fled Canada in 2014 after they came under investigation.

An ideological government - whether left or rightwing - can do a great deal of harm to the reality onto which they impose their texts.
