I read those books when I was 12 years old. I never associated Fagin with the old Jew. Though, to be fair the children's version for US Public schools had the sanitized version of Oliver Twist. They edited it to be acceptable reading for school children. It probably had Jew edited out. In fact, I had a child's version of Oliver Twist and never read a line about Fagin is a Jew. I think I got the edited version only. Plus, none of the films made ever said he was either. Hmm. Interesting. That is why one should refer to the original text always eh?

It is the Twilight Zone. You know I got interested in researching what happened with Stormfront the website. Black the man who founded the website has a wife. The wife worked for a man in Florida who has a foundation that helps minority children with education. Black's wife is his secretary and his wife and their son renounced their White Supremacist beliefs and no longer are part of the movement. A lot of them just think it is bunk after a while.

They tried sanitizing their image with not getting tattoos and getting suits and ties and they tried using clean language to clean up their image. They tried building a community around some generic form of white pride.

Yet, the people they most fight with are other white people of differing beliefs. They have a hard time trying to convince the whites who are not neo nazis that their way of coping with race wars and white genocide is the correct thing to do.

It sure does make their shitty ideology of thinking 'race' is the rallying cry for all to get under the big Tent and be unified in whiteness. The ones most resisting that are other white people. They do not accept reality.

It is interesting if you read the original 'La Conquista de la Nueva Iberia' by Bernal Diaz del Castillo he describes a lot of ideas that make the other Spaniards kind of look bad. He wound up in Guatemala and the Diaz family is still very powerful in Guatemala. He was originally an Andalucian. There were versions of his book that was 'sanitized' in Spain. But the original version now is read widely. It has historical value.

Indeed. The Americans have always been particularly bad for editing out anything resembling radical or ‘unacceptable’ political opinions in famous writers or famous people in general. Bowdler was the man who famously edited the works of William Shakespeare to remove all the rude bits. The aim was to make Shakespeare fit for genteel Victorian ladies to read in their drawing rooms.
