Since I have already made it clear that I never claimed that specific businesses have pressured universities to punish students for anti-Israel speech, I am more than happy to agree that that particular claim is unsupported and can be dismissed.

There have been thousands of arrests.

How many of those arrests have led to convictions of trespassing, harassment and disruption of university operations?

A quick glance at Google shows that many were arrested, while few are being charged. This indicates that the arrests were punitive rather than based on anything substantial.

@Pants-of-dog went as far as to mention specific businesses.

It doesn't matter, he still has to show that 1) businesses are pressuring schools to punish anti-Israel speech, 2) students have been punished for anti-Israel speech

I will note several such arrests led to plea bargains with DAs like in Columbia. And for more serious offenses, there have even been jail sentences

Since there are no more criticisms that have not been addressed several times, we can also look at politicians who are trying to silence protest.

https://langworthy.house.gov/media/pres ... -visas-pro

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy introduced the Veto Your Visas Act, which would revoke the student visas of those involved in an activity in support of any Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), including Hamas.
“We will not stand for the chaos and antisemitic violence across our campuses and cities, like the riots at Columbia University early this year and our nation’s capital yesterday,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “It’s a privilege to come to the United States to study, not a free pass to come to our country to spread hate, burn our flag, and vandalize our institutions. This bill ensures anyone here on a student visa who supports a Foreign Terrorist Organization will be deported, protecting our national security and making it clear that we have zero tolerance for terrorism.”
This bill is cosponsored by Representatives Randy Weber (TX-14), Cory Mills (FL-07), and Vern Buchanan (FL-16).
"If you are in America on a visa and you're supporting a terrorist organization, we don't want you here. This is the greatest country on earth, and if you're protesting on behalf of a bunch of thugs who kill, rape, and torment their own people, you can take that protest right back to where you came from," said Congressman Randy Weber.
“After witnessing yesterday's so-called "peaceful protests' at our nation’s capital, I am appalled by the students who seem to think it's acceptable to incite violence in our country—only perpetuating terrorist origination’s agendas. I am proud to support Congressman Langworthy's Veto Your Visas Act, which will ensure students who are welcomed into the United States are here to learn, not incite violence,”said Congressman Cory Mills.
“The despicable pro-Hamas demonstrations popping up in cities across the country are truly disturbing and should be condemned by all,” said Congressman Vern Buchanan. “Any foreign student visa holders studying in this country who openly support a brutal terrorist organization and chant “Death to America," “Death to Israel” and burn our flag have no business being in this country.”

    Specifically, this bill would:
Require institutions of higher education to immediately report to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) under U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when a student holding a J-1 or F-1 nonimmigrant visa has participated in activity in support of, or as an endorsement of, a foreign terrorist organization.
Empower the Secretary of State to revoke the student visa upon verification of such participation.
Mandate the Secretary of Homeland Security to initiate removal proceedings for the student.

First of all, this is from the website of the politician himself, so this is his own words and this is clearly meant to target the protests against Israel.

Secondly, there is no trial here. The protester can be kicked out of the country through “verification”.

Third, it is unclear what support or endorsement of a terrorist group might mean.

And here is another bill that is pending on the federal level:

Foreign students can get deported for being in a protest and committing a crime. Crime includes things like blocking a street.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-con ... -bill/4756

So now we have at least two government bills that can easily be used to stifle protest, both of which came about as a result of the campus protests against Israel.

wat0n wrote:...nothing wrong with hating racists.

When you are in a position to manufacture hate - like media owners are - you need to create accusations against the group you want the masses to hate.

"Racist" is a good smear, but so was "terrorist," "savage," and "barbarian."

"Deplorables" could work as well.

The important thing is to protect your financial sponsors by calling their critics bad words, and then getting people to hate these "haters."

I find it hilarious to see mentally ill conspiracy theorists whine about smearing others when this thread has been full of that, and of whining over the equal enforcement of the rules.

Like, this thread is full of rather open racism by leftists and now leftists whine about being called out?

Challenge: can @wat0n find a single instance of a Leftist posting a racist comment in this thread

Level of challenge: impossible
#15322282
I predict @wat0n will claim that he has already done so and will refuse to provide a link and a quote.

Meanwhile, back in the real world:

https://yakym.house.gov/posts/yakym-int ... udents-act

Any protester expelled or fired from a university can no longer access student loan forgiveness programs.

Note that the person punished does not need to be charged with a crime.

I mean the leftist pro-Palestine protesters

Although we've already seen antisemitic conspiracy theories ITT by leftists here too. Anyone with half a brain can read the subtext of whining about donors showing their dissatisfaction over institutional support for campus antisemitism by only providing examples of Jewish ones.

Speaking of, I am also still waiting for @Pants-of-dog to provide evidence of 1) businesses pressuring schools to punish anti-Israel speech, 2) even a single student being punished for their own anti-Israel speech.
#15322289
@Pants-of-dog I am simply noting that all your examples of donors complaining about antisemitism are Jewish. I am also noting that you seem to have a problem with Jews complaining about antisemitism.

Now 1) provide evidence of specific businesses pressuring schools to punish anti-Israel speech, 2) specific students who have been punished for anti-Israel speech.

Oh no, more sanctions.

The "power of the purse" reveals its dead hand once again.

What will the banksters do to the human animals next?
#15322351
So we see that there are at least four different groups with a vested inter in stopping the protests and stifling debate.

These groups are Zionists donors, Republican and Democrat politicians, companies with ties to the IDF, and the universities themselves.

All four if these groups enjoy more societal and economic power than the protesters themselves, and in the case of government officials, the use of government power to suppress debate is anti-democratic.
#15322354
I am still waiting for @PoFo History Mods to 1) name and provide evidence of businesses pressuring universities to punish anti-Israel speech, 2) an example of even a single student punished for anti-Israel speech.

In reality, we even have courts siding with Jewish students who were harassed by pro-Palestine leftists with their school's institutional support.
#15322384
So no criticism of my arguments.

Cool.

The majority of Columbia student protesters are getting their charges dropped. This suggests that the arrests were not because of any provable criminal activity. So it is plausible that these arrests were punitive.

So we have many examples of students being punished for criticizing Israel. There are also the doxxed students, and the ones harassed by counter protesters, and those assaulted by counter protesters.

The number of students punished for criticizing Israel is definitely in the hundreds, perhaps thousands.
