No they are not! I was right and all this vast consensus of experts were wrong? Is that surprising. Well its shouldn't be.
Remember the Ides of March 15 March 44 BC. Did you learn nothing from that day. Good God if we've learnt nothing else, we should have at least established one fact, there are no experts in politics. On the 15th March, he blew it, he made an error that no expert in politics should make. And if Julius Caesar, that genius, that God couldn't master politics, what chance do you think us mortals have? What chance do leaders like Matt Hancock have? I don't mean to be insulting to Matt Hancock, but he was no Julius Caesar.
Its the same reason that there are no experts in economics, you can't have politics without economics and you can't have politics without economics. Handling a pandemic is politics. its not some narrow scientific field where you've got a fighting chance of isolating the variables. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that people spend their lives specialising in epidemiology, but the conclusions the specialists can give us are pretty limited when it comes to deciding public policy and guidance in the face of a pandemic or a potential pandemic.
We actually had a pretty good idea about the severity of the pandemic pretty early on from the cruise ships and we also had pretty strong certainties about its methods of spread. Why didn't I fall for the absurd drivel of gloves, of pathological hand washing, cleaning and antiseptics. Was it because I thought I understood the science better than all those scientists?
No it was because I understood those scientists were acting as Priests. They were giving people rituals so as they could feel empowered. To give people the pathetic fantasy that they were really doing something significant to stop the viruses in the same way people were encouraged to believe that by cheering on Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest they were making a significant contribution to the defeat of the the Russian armed forces and security state.
