I noticed that the forum ideology thread is more than 2 years old, and probably no longer representative of the makeup of our active members.

So I decided to make a new one.

I'm going to just go with 'liberal' as the closest to my beliefs in practice. Although my actual political thought is a bit more nebulous at this point, and rather contemptuous of 'wishy-washy liberals' or Sartre's hated démocrates... and their shallow self-contentment and smug faith in progress. (capitalist conservatism, as it exists in the West, is even less serious and not worth discussing) However, in practice, I'm basically just liberal, though I might have a radical edge on postcolonial issues and North/South relations.

I think our forum has a few more warhawk libertarians than it used to.

Still mainly commies though.

Warhawk libertarians? :eh:

Don't think so, TBH. Since I joined the trend on polls has been for the libertarian/liberal/pro-capitalist answer to edge a little ahead of the socialist answer.

Socialist here...

Thought so.

Conservative in the traditional non-Anglo-Saxon sense of the word.

I consider myself a liberal democrat but I do usually vote parties which have "Conservative" in their names. Basically I am socially liberal and economically conservative.

I put communist but I would probably be happier as an anarchist if I thought it was practical which I don't.

Liberal.

I admire libertarian ideals, and periodically sit with them, but Liberal seems to be the closest pigeon hole.

A better pigeon hole would be progressive conservative.. but a local political party ruined that name.

I swear the last one was yesterday, but if you say 2 years I will take your word for it.

As for ideology, an unhealthy mix of apathy and anarchism.

Centrist

Liberal/Progressive on Economic Issues

Moderate on Social Issues

Conservative/Interventionist on Foreign Policy

Averages to centrist I guess.

I try to go issue by issue though.
