Acquaintance
Carmen, tall and slender, is a typical German girl. She is calm, earnest and persistent. Carmen used to be working as an ad designer in a German bank, living a middle-class life with a condo and a car.
However, strong-willed and adventurous by nature, she gave up all of her property, and chose to pursue a life she really needs. In the summer of 2004, she came to Beijing by train via Mongolia. After touring most of the places of tourist attractions in China, Carmen came to the Aba Prefecture in southwest China’s Sichuan Province by train from Qinghai Province in the northwest.
At an altitude of 3,200 meters (nearly 10,000 feet), Aba is a spot with blue sky and white clouds, which intoxicated Carmen. And what attracted her most was a young man whom she met during her 5-day trip.
Tenzin Yonba, who used to study in India, is one of the few who can speak English in Aba. His family runs a home inn and a Tibetan boutique, where he met Carmen.
Tenzin Yonba served as Carmen’s tour guide, leading her to all of the scenic spots in Aba, tasting Tibetan food in a lakeside camp, doing sightseeing on the mountain top, and taking her to visit his home. Soon they became good friends.
When Carmen had to leave after five days, Tenzen Yonba sent her a chain of navy-blue-colored necklace and told her that Aba would be more beautiful in July when all of the blue flowers were in bloom.
