Oh, my bad.

And Canada is not socialist. I just think the moniker People's Republic of Canada is real catchy.

Oldschool win. A car older than 93% of PoFoers.

You win on two accounts:

1) You drive a 25+ year-old Mercedes, that looks in prime condition.
2) You have your nickname on the registration plate.

Good for you. :)

What War Angel means is that his mind has been deformed to read vintage Mercedes and vanity license plate as some kind of status symbol: i.e. "you are a multi-feather injun now, Idling Blowtorch."

Thanks for deconstructing those empty symbols, War.

Just traded my Eos in. My kids are here to stay with me for the summer, or maybe longer, and there just was not room for all. Wahhh!! I loved that Eos, but it was too small.

Here is what I drive now: '09 VW Jetta.

Image

Would have picked up a Passat, but VW discontinued the manual in the USA market for '09..., danggit.

I do love the Bluetooth that came with the Jetta, though. It was hail trying to shift the Eos through traffic with the cell phone up to my ear.

I drive this:

(Not an actual picture of my car - mine has black bumpers and is in lesser overall shape, until I get it fixed up)

A 1991 Suzuki Swift, 1.3 liter, 70HP. Small, cheap and as reliable as the old woman I got it from.

I drive a riced up 2004 Toyota Vitz http://www.cars-directory.net/gallery/t ... 525_p.html
(Mine is blue)
It still gets 54 mpg and 0-60 in 7 seconds, which is not bad for an economy car! best car I've ever owned! 200,000 km on it and it hasn't even seen a repair shop.

What? That car has been on the road for at least a few years, given that mileage, and you've never been to the shop? There are routine check-ups and little fixes every 10-15,000 KMs, here. You wanna tell me your car had zero wear-and-tear over the course of 200,000 KMs? You haven't had to fix or replace anything?

It still gets 54 mpg and 0-60 in 7 seconds

DUDE. Almost NOTHING on four wheels goes 54 MPG\22 KMs per liter. That model you may be in possession of (The one with the 161 BHP 2nz-fe engine) does a max of 12-13 KM per liter, and about 7KM\liter in the city.

Anyway, I think you are exaggerating somewhat. ;)

No repairs. Regular oil changes(synthetic since 55K) is all I have had. No little fixes or tune ups required. Brakes changed at 100,000. When I say no repairs I mean nothing beyond normal wear and tear. I checked about a tune up and the guy at the dealership said the model I had is 0 maintenance. It seems to be worth every penny I spent on it ($18K CA).

My car was rated at 53 mpg when I bought it(manual transmission). Since then I added an intake/exhaust and new wheels. The mileage has only gotten better. I get 700km on a 45L tank. That's 15.5 km/L. I'm not exaggerating. It's a very light car, much lighter than the Yaris, which evolved from it.

Oh, so you did go to the shop, there was wear and tear, just nothing unexpected. Cool, then. Japanese cars are awesome. :)

54 miles per galon is 23 KM per liter, 15.5 km\liter is very good, but not exceptional for a compact, efficient car. My old Suzuki swift 1.3 liter does about 12-13 km\liter, and it's not even fuel-injected and only has three shift-gears. :)

My 1991 Suzuki Swift weighs 750 kilos, and it's automatic. If it were the manual version, it would've weighed anout 690.

hmmm OK well I'm not complaining since I hardly drive conservatively. I could likely get better mileage if I didn't tromp on the gas so much :D

It WAS rated for high mpg though...

City: 6.7 l/100 km (42 mpg)
Highway: 5.2 l/100 km (54 mpg)

See? :p

I had an 88' Suzuki Forsa that lasted til about 280K before the drive train died. It was excellent on fuel too.

Yeah, I do that too, sometimes... my car is very light, so it feels like a four-wheeled scooter. Too bad that due to awful gears and weak engine, it stops being fun at around 60 KM\h. :(

It WAS rated for high mpg though...

Not the high-powered model, though, but the one with the smaller, weaker engine (rated at 70HP, I believe, same as my car's engine). Also, these 'official' ratings don't mean much, they're usually far too optimistic.

High powered? I never got the RS version. It really wasn't anything more than just sportier looking. Same 1.5L engine.

Mine was rated for 97 Hp when I first got it. It's around 115 Hp now after my little after market add-ons. It still feels like a go-cart when I drive it, but that's fun! Only filling the gas tank every 2 weeks or so is pretty nice too.

My wife and I have a fleet, actually... (Longest to shortest ownership.)

Me:
1979 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, Tuxedo Black over Oxblood--bought as a $300 beater, now looks like a well-kept stock Caddy...a look I put LOTS of effort into. Powered by a 542ci (9 litre), 500+HP stroker engine, it does the quarter mile in about 12.5 seconds at about 115MPH. Taking it on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 3 weeks.
1974 AMC Gremlin X, Big Bad Green over black--Subtle as a nuclear bomb. Bright green, chrome sidepipes, chrome Cragar wheels, blower poking through the hood, loud exhaust, loud blower drive, full rollcage inside, low 11-second car, hoping to run high 10's this year with a new camshaft. Mostly a toy.
1979 Ford F-350 4x4 Ranger XLT Camper Special SuperCab/longbed, Ford Truck Red over black--Originally had a 400ci V8, now powered by a 5.9 litre Cummins diesel from a newspaper van. 20+MPG from a 3.5-ton 4WD 1-ton pickup. Earns its keep in the winter toting a snowplow & sand spreader.
2007 Dodge Magnum R/T, Steel Blue over light gray--Yeah, it has a Hemi. Commuter car, quick, comfortable, and versatile. Bought new (leftover) January of 2008. 63,000 miles.
1992 International Genesis school bus--Motorhome conversion project. 307,000 miles.

My wife:
1986 Buick Grand National, black with purple ghost flames over dark gray--Her first car. Full rollcage, racing seats & 5-point belts, hell-roaring 700+HP turbocharged Stage II stroker V6, Art Carr-built transmission, big Camaro front brakes, big-ass stereo. Mid-10-second 1/4 mile car despoite weighing 3900lbs. Good for 22-23MPG. She's driving it on the Power Tour in 3 weeks.
1986 Chevy K-5 Blazer chassis, Tatonka Producks Bummer body (looks like a Hummvee), desert camoflauge over khaki--Slow (130HP 6.2 diesel) but thrifty (22-24MPG) and extremely capable in snow or dirt.
1997 Geo Metro, white--3 cylinders, 5-speed manual, A/C, and not much else. The 50MPG commuter car.

She sold a Suzuki touring bike about a month ago.
