Indeed. Tease away. Although I don't think most Brits care about money. Perhaps the pompous or the Cockney Londoners do. But most just want to get by. Although it would be wrong to compare us to most of the world. We have a cost of living crisis that is true. And yes we have food banks. But nobody is beyond destitute yet.
The USA needs to let PR go B0ycey.
They are getting increasingly tyrannical and they keep pushing the issue. They seriously underestimate the character of Spanish speaking Caribbean people. They underestimate the Cubans, the Dominicans and the Puerto Ricans.
Cubans have a reputation in Mexico, where I currently live of being very well educated, poor people. Those are the Cubans. People who read a lot, study a lot in general and have almost no money at all and live with next to nothing.
The Puerto Ricans are consumers that pay high prices. Puerto Rico invested most of its money in the 80s and 90s in public universities. In my husband's generation all us 1960s puertorriqueños would go to the universities virtually free. Free B0ycey. Thousands of us. UPR Mayaguez campus would graduate 1500 Engineers a year there. Doctors, teachers, every professional under the sun. Most from the poorest barrios on the island. Super poor background with a decent education. Like the Cubans. Because we are poor background from poverty and a lot of education which group on the political spectrum to we identify with? The Left. The socialists, the liberals, the Commies, and the anarchists too. A lot of us in the UPR system are all lefties. The Right on the island knows this. They hate that the UPR produces a lot of Leftists all day every day. Multilingual ones too. Spanish, English and French and also Chek, Japanese, German and other languages are taught there.
It is super cheap to study. When I went to the UPR my first two years of undergrad you paid $5 dollars a credit. A whopping fifteen dollars for a course at the UPR. And I did not pay that. The government did B0ycey. You got Cornell University from the states, CUNY from New York, Boricua College in NYC, Fordham University, Colombia University. Puerto Ricans were 10% of the entire population of NYC in the sixties, seventies. A metropolitan juggernaut of urban activity on all fronts. They went back to the island. Like my parents under the Muñoz Rivera, Muñoz Marín administrations.
A lot of professionals in Puerto Rico B0ycey. What happened? Racist, capitalist and imperialistic out of control greedy and inhumane political policies applied to the island.
They really underestimate the anger involved in having schools shuttered, universities slashed or closed for months in protests....clinics without power, no water, no investments in revitalizing the local economies, and just rich outside Wall Street brokers getting rich off of austerity measures never asked for by the ordinary citizens of PR.
I am not impressed with these people I meet in the USA who have no fucking clue what goes on over there and they have no clue what the hell their federal government does all over the world. Ignorant to the core. Not just on Puerto Rico but on everybody
. And the British do not know jack shit about Latin America in general. You got one or two experts on Latam but most? Totally uninformed. And they accept that what? That limbo status and colonialism is acceptable in today's global economy? It is an old, dysfunctional, anachronistic system B0ycey. Many British people think the solution is for the US crowd to do more for us? They need to get the hell out and give us our funds for all the shit of 120 plus years of taking BILLIONS every single year out of the island to never be seen again. They sucked us dry and continue to do so. They are not doing a damn thing for us. Oh, what? Do I seem like some uneducated dunce to you who does not know a damn thing about politics, history or anything else? You tell me? There are hundreds of thousands of Boricuas like me....all over the world. I know there are five million or 6 million in the states. There are thousands in Mexico. Thousands in Spain and so on.
It is stupid to believe we can't run our own nation. A bunch of rocket scientists are in NASA B0ycey. A bunch of them graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez campus. Why? because we can't run a country that is tiny and small but we can send a rocket into outer space. The problem is we are the hidden figures in the USA system. They keep silent about us. It makes them look bad. You got some American fools on here in this board who assume that they know what their own country does all over the world. They do not know. You got to educate them on their fucking NATION B0ycey. Lol. It is so pathetic.
I got to get ready for an interpretation gig in a few minutes. That is my diatribe for today. When is the USA people going to get their head out of their asses and study history??? The Mexicans study their history if they go to school. Lol. The Americans do not study history, humanities, social science, Western Civvy, etc. It is only the elite they think....fuck, get a damn education with POOR people in the USA. Do the damn job.
It is extremely ignorant to think people will sit on their ass and accept those terms without any kind of conflict involved B0ycey.
