Don't know where you get that from. She is way too happy and optimistic for a congresswoman. I would call that naivety.

But angry? No member of the congress will ever display their emotions usually besides some speach where they would want to motivate of sorts. There is very few angry in congress just 50 shades of deceit. She on the other hand, seems to be idealistic and optimistic for now.

She's both intelligent and rightfully indignant. All Americans should be, but some are still as stupid as shit, and worship Trump as some sort of Right-wing messiah. :knife:

Rancid wrote:I think she's going to help get Trump re-elected. I think Trump and Republicans will use her as a stawman to attack, and it will work. I'm saying they will use her as a strawman because she's not running for president, but they will probably use the stuff she say's to attack whoever the democratic presidential candidate is.

Further, she was brushed off by democrats themselves when she proposed her new green deal. Democrats are too busy fighting each other, and Republicans will take advantage of this once again.

That is a hard sell. What will elect Trump for the 2nd term is a wrongly chosen candidate. As i said before, it is hard to unseat a president during his 2nd term election. Sanders would have won the previous one but he is not enough now. I do not know who is the next in line in the democratic hierarchy to take a shot but he won't be enough. Because they will simply not fit the bill of what is needed at the very least.

Realistically, for the democrats to win, they need somebody to be:
a) Younger than average.
b) Male
c) White
d) More left leaning than average
c) Preferably Christian.

We found a candidate that is from Texas. Beto O Rourke or something like that. Some semi-young guy who has tons of his childhood pictures as posters. He fits the bill but he is not really left leaning. He is from Texas. Realistically if he manages to win Texas than Trump is done, thats it. It is a knockout.

To win Trump you just need 3 million votes if you exclude California and NY. Votes in the those places don't matter at all. Females will vote anyways for Democrats with all the stuff he said. Now, the democrats should ask themselves how do you get those votes from:
1) A lot of low income areas.(For a Republican)
2) Rural Areas.
3) Trump dominated in middle income areas.

If you look at the last election, Trump didn't win because of some miracle. He won a lot of low income(For a Republican) areas while Clinton won almost all high income areas. Also Trump basically dominated the middle class outside of standard Democrat Strongholds.

Edit: Here is a graph. It is a good visualisation of the situation. 50k is the middle ground/Average.

Yes she acts happy in her everyday life, but she certainly has political anger.

Ocasio-Cortez is angry with ICE

Published on Feb 7, 2019

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called on Congress to defund ICE at a press conference in Washington. She admits that she is "mad".

Cortez is Angry #SOTU

Most of the women at Trump's SOTU seemed angry until Trump congratulated them for being the most women in congress ever. Look at the angry expression on the face of Ocasio-Cortez.

Yes, Trump is good at sucking up when he has to. no one is denying he isn't a good manipulator. look what he's done to people like you. :D

AOC is rightfully angry at the stupidity Trump, and his stooges, display. All Americans should be.

Not all Americans, I benefited from the tax cut. I just wished it had come when Obamacare kicked in so that the individual mandate penalty would have been eliminated from the Tax Returns, like this time.

Yeah I agree. I know and care little about her. The media though is insistent on shoving her down our throat.

I read reporting about McConnel planning to hold a vote on the Green New Deal, with the strategic purpose of forcing Democratic Senators to show their stripes, in hopes of embarrassing some of them (my paraphrase).

It is worth noting that the Green New Deal isn't her idea, but was actually talked about during Obama, although the particulars seem different.

It was reported that Ocasio-Cortez's House bill includes a provision for moving to 100% renewable energy with in 10 years.

Sorry, but that is bullshit. It isn't feasible. Such an idea also displays a pretty gross ignorance of the economics of energy. Power plants are very long-term investments. If a particular oil plant is built with a life of 50 years, the investment is on that sort of schedule. Shutting it down after 20 years is a forgoing of 30 years of debt-financing. That's a heavy cost, as this is a very capital intensive industry.

That's just an example using random numbers.

Sure, costs can be born, but that it is indeed a cost also bares recognition.

A green new deal is a very good concept, but a specific proposal also has to be realistic, which the current one ain't, by a considerable stretch.

I like her a lot. Maybe because I come from a long line of women Puerto Rican socialists. All of her behavior makes perfect sense to me. Being angry, optimistic, passionate, confrontational and etc? All Puerto Rican cultural behavior. John Rawls is used to Anglo styles in the political scene. She is not.

She also is an independentista like ALL of the congresspeople of Puerto Rican background. All of them are pro-independence @Crantag not a single one of them are pro statehood for Puerto Rico--they want a separation from the USA. Neither are they one bit of conservatives. None. Zero conservatives are the only elected congressional members of Puerto Rican descent. Not Nydia Velasquez or Ocasio-Cortez or the retired Luis Gutierrez or Jose Serrano, or Badillo, none. All pro independence.

Yet the politicians who are not Puerto Rican have no damn clue what that means. Why am I not surprised?

They are shoving her down your throat on Fox news Crantag? Because she represents the biggest fear of all. Socialists women Third World immigrants with proposals they HATE. They want the same racists to go crazy and back Trump cultishly. She is their boogeyman/ woman Crantag.

Nah, don't take me the wrong way.

I was aiming for a diatribe on her Green New Deal, which is an idea I favor in principle, but as for her version I agree with Pelosi Who called it a 'Green New Dream.'

Policies have to be pragmatic and it's often counterproductive when they aren't.

I have no additional bones to pick with her. I merely wish she will be pragmatic.

Idealism is alright, but she may be excessively idealist from where I sit, and that may be a product of her youth (I'm not that much older than her, but it still may be so).

I never look at Fox News. But the rightwingers indeed may be behind much of the large scale news coverage.

In that case though they too are unwittingly moving her into the spotlight. They are making her more famous, and that's to her advantage.

Crantag when have the young been overly pragmatic and not reaching for some over the top ideal? Lol.

That is the history of new generations over old generations. If ever there was an issue to be bullishly aggressive on trying to change feverishly and boldly on it is climate change. Sitting your ass down on poisoning the Earth to the point of a possible human extinction event is not pragmatic in my book. It is being criminally negligent. It might be too little and too late as it is.

As for her fame? Lol. At least it gets people talking about socialism @Crantag. Marxist theory is not something widely studied in mainstream US society in political life. They need it. Latin America does talk about it. Time to deal with socialism, communism and Marxism and deal with this stage of capitalism and fossil fuel stuff. Or? Pay for the ignorance. A very high price indewd. ;)

Crantag wrote:@Tainari88 , I do have a lot of respect for you.

I just think of here as a place to speak my mind. Whether right or wrong.

I studied Marxism in Japan for almost 7 years.

I currently live in China.

I know all that about you Crantag. You are one of my favorite posters. But I see a big deficit of Marxist Americans studying modern USA colonialism in the Caribbean and in Latin America. Even hardcore Marxists don't study it. I wonder why they don't? It is as Frantz Fanon states in his Wretched of the Earth. The Colonizers refuse to study the side of the colonized. I would think a Marxist understood Puerto Rican problems, US Virgin Islander problems, American Samoan problems, Solomon islands, Marshall Islands, Guam, Palau, etc. BUT THEY DON'T. Study the people getting FUCKED by the USA in the worst way. Through a Marxist perspective. Because if you don't know what the hell the Empire does to the least of us? You won't know how they will act when all the big issues come up Crantag.

I knew exactly what would happen when the invasion of Iraq happened. Because they follow the same fucking pattern when they conquer the islands and the little folks over here. They use the same shit over and over again. It surprises me that a bunch of far Left men from the USA don't study this situation of the disaster capitalists with a fine tooth comb. But many don't.

Ocasio-Cortez came out of nowhere? No she did not. Puerto Rico got all the Commies, the Socialists and the far left people that the Roosevelt administration did not want on the mainland pressuring his New Deal with radicalism he could not afford to have when negotiating with the big Capitalist class like Rockefeller, Carnegie and Vanderbilt, Dupont and all the rest of them Crantag. They wound up in Puerto Rico and they are responsible for the long and strong socialist, and communist faction in Puerto Rico. All this time. The University of Puerto Rico had and still has a very large socialist group and anti imperialist group. That is why the conservative government wants it DESTROYED.

Ocasio-Cortez father and mother were both Puerto Ricans....and they met in Puerto Rico. Her father was from the Bronx and her mother was from the island. But they are part of a vein of Puerto Ricans who are part of a very big far left that still despite a lot of violence and jails, and framings and bullshit from the USA government exist still to this day. The ones on the mainland were effectively wiped out in the 1950's. But the Spanish language barriers and us being powerless politically made it safe for the more radical wing of the Democrats from WWII and the Great Depression to offload all of them on Puerto Rico.

The Cuban far right and the far Left native Puerto Rican have been fighting it out in Puerto Rico for a very long time....all manipulated from DC.

Time for the USA to understand where that tradition comes from in the Puerto Rican community. Ocasio-Cortez is not some 'naive'no roots democratic socialist. It comes from a history. And I am not surprised that my people's history is a fucking dark unknown one. The propaganda machine here made sure of that for many many years.

I hope the spot light on her makes people finally bring that to light. Deal with the issue. Period.

You have said not a word for me to disagree with.

I can tell you the extent of my personal relationship with Puerto Rico.

In the early summer of 2017, I got laid off.

Around then Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and finally Maria hit, and I figured out I could go work as a housing inspector.

I drove all the way across country, got my badge, and worked for a few peanuts on a very high tax rate, as a contractor.

I was asked if I'd go to Puerto Rico, and I said yes, but they cut me loose instead.

I should probably pinch it off because this seems quite boring.

Puerto Rico is clearly a colony, and Hurricane Maria was worse than Katrina. But no one gives a shit, because it is something in the colonies. Yet, that status made it worse than what it would have been.

I support Puerto Rico independence fully. I absolutely support it.

Puerto Rico is one of many many places that are at the issue of exploitation to the point of violence. They need to deal with that issue.

Why in 2019 the USA continues to be involved in 19th century style colonialism? Why the capitalists don't learn a damn thing from getting their asses burned in many places and why they continue to think that war and spending money on death and destruction and civil unrest in small defenseless places is the way to Make America Great Again?

They are following a self destructive arrogant fucked style. That all the previous Empires have done. The British got kicked out of India, and the French out of Algeria, and the Dutch out of their colonies and so on and so forth.....don't they fucking learn from their stupid colonialism mistakes?

No. They want dead people. Violence. Blood, and horror and austerity, families moving by the millions into the USA because they can't find a fucking job in their home nations....is that what the solution is then?

I get PISSED Crantag at that indifferent stupid, 'we don't give a shit about those people' attitudes. You will when they burn your ass, bomb your buildings, shoot your politicians, create terror and chaos....then you will say, "Oh, I guess they got fucking issues with how we do business. Let us deal with it with more blood and horror and bad behavior on our part."

WHEN WILL THAT SHIT END? When Crantag. Cuando se acaba la MIERDA?

Thanks for the multiple hours of video I'm not going to watch.

I think the fact that a freshman congressional representative has every conservative's panties in a knot proves that she's far more effective than they would like to admit. Besides, all Republicans are morons who offer no solutions. They have needlessly wasted money on useless wars while shrinking social programs. Even their champion idea, a big dumb fucking wall, fails to address the problems of immigration or drug trafficking and only needlessly wastes money that could be spent on social services.

A literal rock could govern better than the entirety of the GOP at this point. But they're OK with that, because they have lots of free time to watch stupid videos, apparently.

Hindsite believes that Ocasio Cortez is a dummy? Lol. No she is not.

But she does get all the Repukes in congress all upset with maybe implementing a sixties tax code that taxes the rich above 10 million dollars at 70% to 90%.

We must shed true huge tears for the rich losing millions to fund schools with leaky rooves and getting purified water for drinking to Flint Michigan. Lol.

Assholes these Republican dumbells are in my view.

This is what gets them upset.....

She is proposing changes they hate and supposedly affects their big purses.....they need to say to her....LOL.
