If you make about $1500 dollars US a month you live a really high quality middle class life here. So most social security retirees? Will live the good life. If they realize that you must learn Spanish and get to know a foreign culture and you get used to discarding your shit filled toilet paper in the waste basket and never flushing it. Never having hot showers unless you install your own gas tank or expensive system, never drink from the tap, and expect fraud every time you use a credit card online from your house through a registration service. You should also expect very little real crime resolutions. No way you will gain back your lost cell phone or your pilfered laptop and you should expect a lot of lack of understanding of what it means to live in the Third World.

If you don't know how to do that? Don't move to Mexico. Lol.

One has to assume the Biden admin will handle COVID better and the COVID death rate might decease slightly. The problem is Biden can't control what states/governors or city mayors do, especially the dumbest ones in the red states. They do. I meet them in line at the immigration office all day. Venezuelan manicurists who have expired visas for years now and are in Mexico illegally. Cuban refugees who open illegal pizza businesses from their homes, and Syrians, Africans, Belize people Guatemalans, etc.

They don't have the money to send ICE in to make a round up. Everyone has to work hard since the food stamps and the public housing for free and etc doesn't exist. The Mexican government doesn't give one shit about your illegal status. Unless you are a criminal with millions of dollars you are making and some corrupt asshole in the upper echelons is not making money off of your bribes and your shit? Yes, you can be in Mexico and no one is gonna bust your door down and look for you....OTOH if you are a mayor of a small fishing town in Quintana Roo like Mahahual and you don't want drug dealers in your little beach town and you are an honest and good man with a wife and kids and you help everyone in your village? The drug dealers and the corrupt cops will kill you mysteriously and no one knows who did it.

That last story I met the widowed wife of the mayor. I was in Quintana Roo in early January. The wife was mouning still her husband's violent end. At the same time, I met Lorena. She is an older woman who is a sweetheart and makes her living giving massages and growing corn and beans in the town for sale. Her son was a fisherman and lost his life trying to save a tourist from drowning. The best kind of humans too. Both.
