Doug64 wrote:@ingliz, you might want to add the point you’re trying to make with your links, maybe even some quotes, to explain how the judge- and executive-mandated violations of Pennsylvania state law weren’t actually violations of state law.

@ingliz and I have explained it.

Once more:

Neither the judges nor the executive violated state law in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania had two relevant court cases: one about late ballots and one about signature verification.

The first one was ruled on by Alito. Since he is a judge, you would define his involvement as a violation of law if you were logically consistent. He ordered the late ballots segregated. They were segregated. The number of ballots segregated is less than the margin by which Biden won. So even if we assume that 100% of these ballots can be taken out of Biden’s total, Biden still wins.

The second court case was about signature verification. ingliz has provided links to the appropriate laws written by tye Pennsylvania legislature, and these laws do not say that signature verification is required. If you were being logically consistent, you would be denouncing Pennsylvania election executives for enforcing signature verification in earlier elections, since that would be a policy that the legislature did not set as law.

Do you have any questions?

I've often considered making this thread a series and kicking off "Election 2024" as soon as possible.

But I think way too early.... Lol.

So this is what porn for people who love losing looks like.

Because afaik Ilhan is still in the House, and apparently she got 65% of the vote with the Republican candidate coming in at a strong 26%. Bad times for Ilhan ahead, dunno if she can possibly weather this crushingly victorious blow in the next election cycle.

Seriously Doug, stop jerking yourself dry to every dumbassed conservative oped you find. This is seriously Simpsons level, "Oh yeah? Well maybe that's why we beat your team in football nearly half the time" level shit.

I'm genuinely curious as to why you dislike Ilhan. Please, riff.

What's True...

A judge in Pennsylvania ruled that a small number (8,000?) of mail-in ballots, a majority of which are likely votes for Joe Biden, would be disqualified for first-time voters who were unable to confirm their identification by Nov. 9.

The disqualified mail-in ballots had already been segregated awaiting the judge's decision, meaning they had not yet been counted.

Nothing changes.

That pretty much says it all—the Democrats didn’t steal the election, Biden is just a miracle worker!

I think you should make it a series kicking off the impeachment conviction of Joe Biden.

Yea. Not going to happen. Two reasons. No evidence of impeachable offenses. Democrats have the house. You are free to contribute tons of money to the "get Biden" fund if you like.

Donald Trump’s legal team suffered yet another defeat in court today as a federal appeals court in Philadelphia calls Judge Brann's decision justified and finds that Guiliani's "claims have no merit”.

The three judges on the panel were all appointed by Republican presidents.

Trump needs to stop this nonsense, concede and start hiring lawyers in New York. That is where he is going to need them and very soon.

He might try to start with a competent one and drop the disaster he has now.

He has already confirmed he will officially concede the election upon the traditional confirmation of the results by the Electoral College, and stated he will respect their decision.

If he had said that 3 weeks ago, he wouldn't have looked like the poor loser and fucking crybaby, that he is. :knife:

Trump's a whiny bitch, and pretending to take the high road, at this point, is simply stupidity on his part. No one buys the lie... except for his cultists, I mean.

The state legislature in PA is considering taking back the power they delegated to select electors from the Secretary of State. One of the things that most Americans do not know is that presidents are not democratically elected. State legislatures determine the electors, and what they have done since around 1880 is that all states have a democratic election and send a winner-take-all panel of electors to the electoral college. In actual fact, the US can elect presidents without any popular vote at all. State legislatures can determine the electors.

Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution
Currently, Republicans control 31 state legislatures. The 12 Amendment changed the process from the original system, because having a president and runner up as vice president was creating a system where political rivals were made vice president.

It creates kind of an interesting twist. If the Democrats want to stuff the ballot box and pretend Biden got 80M votes, it could be that Republicans revert to the selecting electors by the state legislature, rather than whoever won the popular vote in that state--or perhaps even dumping the winner-take-all system and granting electors based upon who won in particular Congressional districts. So imagine a case where Biden gets 3-4 electors from PA, and Trump gets 16-17. It can happen and it's perfectly constitutional.

Drlee wrote:Trump needs to stop this nonsense, concede and start hiring lawyers in New York.

He doesn't need to concede at all. He can keep raising hell as long as he wants. Why should he be nice to Biden, when Biden was in the oval office suggesting charging Michael Flynn with violating the Logan Act? Payback is a bitch, and Trump should get payback for what was done to him.

colliric wrote:He has already confirmed he will officially concede the election upon the traditional confirmation of the results by the Electoral College, and stated he will respect their decision.

Yes, but they are actively trying to prevent Biden from getting 270 electors. In that case, the state legislatures have to appoint one elector for each state. Not many people really understand the 12th Amendment and that the US president is not selected by popular votes.

Godstud wrote:If he had said that 3 weeks ago, he wouldn't have looked like the poor loser and fucking crybaby, that he is. :knife:

You guys are the ones crying about him not conceding. There is no law that requires him to concede. Why should he make it a smooth transition when they did everything possible to screw his up, including working to prosecute his national security adviser before he was even in office? Good lord. You guys have been bitching and whining for four years now. What's a few more weeks?

Conceding would have been the brave, gentlemanly, and proper thing to do. I can see why those things are alien to you, and Trump, @blackjack21.

Where am I defending Trump? To me, he is a wrench in the works. Why would I want him to make things easy for the establishment? I've consistently voiced my opposition to the establishment and making life difficult for them.

Godstud wrote:Conceding would have been the brave, gentlemanly, and proper thing to do.

This is your list of virtues that you think Trump should aspire to? Trump is a known quantity, and his supporters like him because he fights, not because he quits.

Godstud wrote:I can see why those things are alien to you, and Trump, @blackjack21.

I understand these concepts perfectly, but I see no reason why they would apply to a contested presidential election.

Well you can't say he isn't a fan of sticking up for tradition, since that is the traditional 19th century time when the loser would concede the result, from before the invention of mass media changed that tradition.

Lol.

America was close to civil war. If Trump refused to step down.

Joe Biden won 3% ahead, this is nothing. To heal the dvison it requires a centrist policy not a leftist.

America was not close to Civil War...

Civil War requires widespread State Level official support from multiple states.

Probably the conditions for a Civil War in the USA would still in today's day and age, require multiple major states with the funding to raise an army to threaten to succeed from the Union for whatever reason and form a block of a new country.

This situation with Trump would more be akin to widespread civil unrest, which is already occurring in the USA.

I think Civil War, especially like the previous one, is likely impossible in today's United States. The "Union Army" is much more technologically advanced.
