Yeah, you heard me, it is done, this thread is like my patent application.

Don't ask questions the answers to which are no business of yours, especially if they are of the sort that could potentially harm someone.

This is a shadow trade, the work of which is done by genuine human beings, who need empowerment and who need, like few other professions, to have the ability to address issues relating to the workplace circumstances.

And I do know workers in this trade, and I'm representing them, but there is no way in hell I'm divulging any sort of relevant information as to who such people are in this thread, so if that's what your into go to wikisexguide or something.

Now, I'll pose the first question, the answer to which I already have my own take, which I'll give, but I'd like to give yall a chance to answer first, if you want to.

What is the number one challenge for sex workers, which they need to deal with?

1. Pimps and traffickers. I live in an area that has a sex trafficking problem, and I see women with men who look like they do not belong with them who I suspect are coerced.

You will have a problem with pimps and traffickers. How will you deal with them? They are a mafia.

Maybe I do not completely understand your premise though.

Nah man, you understand perfectly.

And that's a valid answer.

I was rating that number 2, behind the police.

The long term solution to dealing with pimps and traffickers seems obvious, in the form of ending prohibition.

We really are living in particularly strange times right now though.

I genuinely feel like America is closer to civil war right now than it has been since 1865.

I do not anticipate a civil war, but I anticipate shit getting worse before it gets better.

So it's sorta like all bets are off. And campaigns against prohibition have to wait.

Ok, I had police as my #2, but you asked about what we thought would be the number 1 challenge.

Did you ever see the story of Honolulu police fighting for the privilege to have sex with prostitutes?

Apparently they are allowed to do so if they claim that they are doing so to make arrests. Obviously this brings up conflicts of interest and lack of integrity among the police force. We can be reasonable assured that it is not just police in Honolulu who are engaging in having sex with prostitutes while arresting men for attempting to have sex with prostitutes.

I also have issues with police and prostitution sting operations, which I view as nothing more than entrapment.

This is why I believe that police are a challenge to sex workers, but at least they have something to lose if they get caught and tried for straying too far away from the law. They may have retirement, benefits, a family or their reputation to lose.

But pimps and traffickers probably don't have any of that to worry about which is why I put them at the top of the list

Ok, so anything else I post in this thread will be from a devil's advocate position.

I just don't understand what would be the point of a sex worker's union? What entity would sex workers be lobbying against?

Hygiene. No matter how voluntary they are, it is hard to ensure the hygiene of who they do business with. And the nature of the business means they are exposed to a lot of transmissive diseases (not just the likes of syphilis, HIV or HPV) that other people would not.

EDIT: Didn't read the thread, but IMHO the problem of police is solvable by changing the social stigma against sex workers.

I was going to ask if sex work was legal in your country but then you mentioned the police.

What's your take on criminalising the purchase of sex rather than the sale as they do in Sweden?

1. Not having money to live.
2. Johns.
3. Violent Johns.
4. The body can take only so much abuse, which is why prostitutes and porn actors "work" life is limited to just a few years for most prostituted women/porn actors.
5. An inability to deal with trauma that got them into this "job".

So where do you figure the threat of police rates? Because I'll put it number one above the other valid things you mentioned, but it could be further down the list. And when done the right way sex is not unhealthy, it's actually a human need.

I'm for de-prohibition but I'm not really in a position to talk about what that looks like, that should be up to the workers, and I'm not one.

I wish you good luck. How do you plan to deal with unwanted pregnancies?
