So it turns out the people running Cyber Ninja, the company hired to perform the third recount, have no experience and a documented history of engaging with rightwing grifters and conspiracy theorists.

But what if the ballots can't be trusted? What if the fraud was so perfectly executed that even the Cyber Ninjas can't find it?

What then? Well, one little thing stuck out to me in this article.

From HuffPo:

The private company conducting the GOP 2020 election recount in Arizona is now demanding access to government internet routers and passwords, which the Maricopa County sheriff blasted as “mind-numbingly reckless and irresponsible” and a threat to law enforcement.

Sheriff Paul Penzone (D) said in a statement that providing router information to a shadowy private company led by a conspiracy-embracing CEO would compromise sensitive and highly classified law enforcement data and equipment.

“The Senate Republican Caucus’ audit of the Maricopa County votes from last November’s election has no stopping point,” Penzone said. “Now, its most recent demands jeopardize the entire mission of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.”

In addition, citizens’ private information, including voting histories, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security numbers, could fall into the hands of Cyber Ninjas, the company hired by the GOP-led Senate to conduct the recount.

In response to Senate subpoenas last week, county attorney Allister Adel explained in a letter that turning over the requested routers or “virtual images” of routers not only poses a significant security risk to the sheriff’s office, it also “puts sensitive, confidential data belonging to Maricopa County’s citizens — including Social Security numbers and protected health information — at risk as well,” reported the Arizona Republic.

Access to the routers “might compromise county and federal law enforcement efforts and put the lives of law enforcement personnel at risk,” Adel added.

The recount of 2020 races Democrats won in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, was launched last month by Cyber Ninjas, owned by conspiracy theorist Doug Logan, who retweeted messages months ago predicting that any Arizona audit would inevitably uncover hundreds of thousands of uncounted votes for Donald Trump.

Logan’s company is examining ballots using ultraviolet light in a crackpot hunt for “bamboo” particles that allegedly would suggest the ballots were planted by China.

One of the recounters is a former local lawmaker who was at the Capitol riot. Former state Rep. Anthony Kern’s name is also on the ballots he’s “auditing,” as both a candidate for reelection (he lost) and as an elector for Trump.

The county has already turned over all 2.1 million general election ballots, voter information and election equipment to the Cyber Ninjas in response to state Senate subpoenas.

Last week, the state Senate decided to delay the personal canvassing of voters, in which Cyber Ninjas operatives grilled residents about their voting. Republicans in the Senate backed off after receiving a complaint from the U.S. Department of Justice that such action could amount to illegal voter intimidation and civil rights violations.

Arizona Senate President Karen Fann told the Justice Department that if that portion of the project is restarted, canvassers “will not carry a firearm or other weapons” when they knock on citizens’ doors.

Pamela Karlan, principal deputy assistant attorney general in the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, also expressed concern in her letter to Fann that ballots were not secure, since they’re “no longer under the ultimate control of elections officials, are not being adequately safeguarded by contractors, and are at risk of damage or loss.”

It’s been almost six months since Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) certified the state’s election results, with Joe Biden beating Trump by 10,457 votes. Biden edged out Trump by more than 2 percentage points ― about 45,000 votes ― in Maricopa County.

Since then, multiple election audits have been conducted in the county, with no fraud or irregularities.

Trump, who persists in lying that he won the election and that it was stolen from him, has been telling guests at his Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida that a vote “upset” in Arizona claimed by the Cyber Ninjas could be his road back to the White House.

At this point it's all about creating a narrative to further delegitimize Democratic victories and the democratic process, because the unpopularity of their worldview makes democracy an impediment to their politics.

That's assuming the people running Cyber Ninja are true believers. But like every rightwing freak, they are grifters. So far the plan seems to be that Cyber Ninja will keep making increasingly ludicrous demands and once they get told to fuck off they'll throw their hands up and shout, "We were so close to proving the fraud! Send us more money!"

But what happens after that? How do you keep milking the grift? Well, apparently the same drunk Thanksgiving uncles and Q-anon aunts you ignore on Facebook want to go around "physically canvasing" people about their votes. Don't worry, these very sane people in search of a conspiracy won't be armed. Let's just respect their very stupid feelings and do our best to accommodate them.

The best term I have heard for shit like this is from the guys who run the Knowledge Fight podcast, who basically report on Alex Jones and a little bit on other fringe weirdo stuff. The entire grift of the stolen election and Biden's government being a sham is just terrorist edging. Like at a certain point you run out of even this dumbassed shit to fleece people for, and then all you can do is tell the idiots that there are no effective systemic means for addressing the most flagrant and obvious fraud in history.

Where do you think that escalates to? Because that's basically the track Alex Jones has been on and it has gone to some dark places with Jones having to continually remind his audience not to actually do violence because he can't afford more lawsuits. The second you stop ramping up the fear it means you lose money.

Because at no point will the people making money off of this or the rubes who buy into it ever admit they're wrong.

Because the idiots at Cyber Ninja couldn't count fast enough and because the stadium has contractual obligations with other parties, the ballots will be present at at least one high school graduation ceremony. They will be stored inconspicuously behind an 8 foot tall chain link fence on the floor of the stadium.

I am ashamed to admit that I live in this shit storm. Everyone I know is just sick about this. There is a great deal of talk of voter suppression. When the mother ship returns and I take over, the first bit of voter suppression I am going to order is to prevent cowboys, farmers*, and truck drivers from voting.

And there is the hell of this stuff. Consider this.

Arizona has two Democratic Senators. (One of them a DINO but what the hell.) It has constitutionally mandated universal government paid health care for all who can't afford health care. It has the fourth highest minimum wage and automatic increases. It has government paid long-term custodial care based upon income. It is legal to possess up to an ounce of pot and grow up to 6 plants per adult. (12 per adult if you have a medical marijuana card.)

But we have the fucking cowboys, farmers and truck drivers running the legislature.

*Other than organic farmers. Organic farmers from Oregon and all pot farmers will get two votes.

Just a friendly reminder to all that the Arizona state legislature sold the state congressional building only to rent it back from the new owner. A decision on par with Chicago's to sell the rights to the parking meters for 100 years.

I Googled it and apparently they are buying the building back now.

Trump supporters on this board are aware that there are no valid arguments to be made about election fraud, which is why across the board when they have been courageous enough to even try and make an argument their arguments have boiled down to "But people FEEL like the election was stolen and my feelings are very important!"

This is because their political beliefs have no intellectual basis and are just a manifestation of their personality disorders. There simply is no intellectual backing to modern American conservatism; it is simply the belief that you are a special snowflake whose feelings matter more than anyone's and therefore the purpose of government is to punish people who hurt your feefees. It is a waste of time to pretend otherwise.

Yea, I've heard/seen this one a lot. Hilarious given how they always talk about "the libs" being sensitive snowflakes or whatever. They are what they hate.

It is a puzzlement. Arizona is run by this odd collection of misfits that just seems to keep getting elected. Maricopa County, which has Phoenix runs the state. The rest of us struggle for a bone. It really is a collection of gun-toting cowboys who are calling the shots. One of our former state senators and US congressional candidate went on the Daily show and compared the constitution to the rules of golf, while he was advocating changing state law to allow college students to carry guns and everyone to carry concealed guns in bars.

It defies credulity.
