I agree, you got to have a reliable political system that is democratic with free and fair elections. Otherwise, the WHOLE country will pay the price. If the U.S. gets it's credit downgraded, then it will be much more difficult for people to buy homes and start businesses in the U.S. and that will effect everybody directly as far as our economic prosperity for each citizen. Interest rates on mortgage and business loans will be higher if the country's credit rating is downgraded by Fitch.
