Now, this is funny,

Republicans are looking pretty dumb now and might have to turn to Democrats and make concessions to Democrats to be able to vote for a Republican House Speaker. Republicans can't seem to get anything done or do anything right these days. It's pretty bad when some Republican members discuss making concessions to Democrats to get a House Speaker elected.

Manu Raju and Kate Sullivan of CNN wrote:Republicans are considering appointing four members each from the pro-Rep. Kevin McCarthy and anti-McCarthy camps to negotiate a path forward on choosing a House speaker, one GOP source tells CNN.

One Democratic lawmaker also tells CNN they overheard Rep. Jim Jordan tell members huddled on the House floor that McCarthy wants each side to appoint four members to negotiate after this sixth round of voting for House speaker.

The huddle came after McCarthy lost a fifth bid to secure the speakership, as a group of 20 Republicans remain opposed to the California Republican for the top position.

McCarthy just lost an 8th vote! The Republicans can't even elect a speaker when they are in the majority. If they can't even do something as small as elect a speaker once they have taken the majority, how can the American people expect that they can get anything done?

Robert Urbanek wrote:If the rebels led by Matt Gaetz paralyze Congress to the point where the federal government cannot properly function, could Biden claim Gaetz and his cabal are insurrectionists and declare martial law?

No (and Biden isn't stupid like Trump. It wouldn't even cross his mind as an idea to float/suggest.... Only Trump and Trump-tards would consider something like this), but as @wat0n mentioned. It would be destructive to the GQP in 2024. This is where MAGA has led them, this is where refusing to to cut out the far right morons has led them. They should continue to reap what they have sown, and choose not to dig out when opportunity after opportunity was given to them.

Fuck the GOP, and Trump along with his 30 or so collaborators in congress should be in fucking prison.

So, the new jobs report is out, and under Democrat leadership, 2022 is a historical year for job growth. The U.S. economy added over 200,000 new jobs in December. Good job, Democrats! And let's see how Republicans are doing in the House today... OHHH! WAIT! They STILL haven't even picked a speaker yet. MAAANNN! Republicans don't work or get anything done. Democrats over here created well over 200,000 new jobs for the U.S. economy, and the Republicans can't even elect a speaker. I can't help but notice the contrast. What about you late? Republicans don't seem concerned about serving the American people and getting things done!

Alicia Wallace of CNN wrote:The US economy added 223,000 jobs in December, according to the monthly employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, capping a year of extraordinary job growth and marking the second-best year for the labor market in records that go back to 1939.

Biden keeps getting things done, Republicans keep screwing up, and screwing each other over.

Trump is getting the lowest number of votes to become Speaker in American history. He has a knack for getting in the history books for all the wrong reasons.

This also demonstrates the failure of the radicals, besides Goetz, to support him. They ain't MAGA.

It's one of the reasons I changed the name to Death Cult. But the guys that support the cult in Congress have both cynical kooks and actual crazies. I would prefer something that implicitly acknowledges the difference, but I haven't come up with anything yet.

They are going to prevent the debt ceiling getting raised in Sept. That will set off a global economic depression, a Great Depression, and that will drag us into a severe economic depression.

A historian once said that not dealing with insurrectionists is asking for trouble. It would seem he is correct.

LOLOL

Yes, historic until it's revised downward. I think the last downward revision on employment numbers was MINUS 1.1 MILLION JOBS. But stay in that trance, P_O

The most recent "strong" employment numbers:

Its absolutely outrageous what these small group of republicans have forced on the Republican establishment. Fascist measures like demanding that bills be published 72 hours before a vote, or that bills limit themselves to one subject. What kind of dystopian world have we come to where the people's representatives are allowed to scrutinise bills before they become law?
