After 5 years of military rule Thailand is preparing for elections to be held on 24th March. Over 50 parties are fielding candidates and many have changed their names to Thaksin or Yingluck to gain recognition. The most interesting development is former princess Ubolratana running in allegiance with former prime minister Thaksin, which could be a huge upset for the junta that has worked so hard to exclude the Shinawatras from the country's politics.

Despite the corruption from Thaksin, the people loved him for what he did for most of the population(which in Thailand is rural). He brought a great many out of poverty, and his programs helped a lot of people.

That said, the General who is running has had a lot of support, so it's anyone's guess as to who will be elected.
