Sign to habituate people to IGNORE red lights is a very stupid LTA mistake.

Left turn on red is very ridiculous and dangerous to pedestrian and cyclist pathway users.

How can motorist and cars be encouraged to shoot a red light? Who is the crazy person at LTA who mooted this idea? This person should indeed be sacked/fired or be sentenced to walking or cycling to work for the next 10 years.

Probably, the increasing number of accidents and cases of people who shoot Red lights are influenced by this very irresponsible and harebrained staff who thought that 'left turn on red' would improve traffic flow without considering other attendant repercussions like more accidents and drivers being habituated to shoot the red lights.

Many motorist then treat the road junction like a 'give way' rule and just ignore pedestrians and cyclist, even when the green man light is in their favour and are just concerned about not colliding with traffic on the main road. What then is the purpose of the pedestrian green man traffic light? If discretion to drive forwards was the case, then wouldn't the junction be better served by a zebra crossing instead? Why can't cyclist and pedestrians be given the discretion? Are LTA staff all petrol heads and too addicted to their cars and like to create policies just to priviledge themselves?

Many foreign workers also cycle pass the area and would naturally not be familiar with absurd Singapore traffic rules, obviously, LTA doesn't treasure the lives of foreign work permit holders, cyclist or pedestrians in Singapore.

Left turn on red signboard:

And they even place the sign where there is a blind corner to the left which makes crossing pedestrians and cyclists invisible to motorist approaching the cross junction:

Only east bound pedestrians are warned that they may be knocked down by motorist even when they cross after pressing button and waiting for green man to show up:

West bound pedestrians who exit from a blind corner (especially cyclist) can expect to be knocked down without warning because the sign is occluded or facing wrong direction and the corner is a blind spot:

Really is LTA flip prata, tell people to ignore red light signals, then tell people that road safety is important.

PS: for such complex road traffic rules to be implemented, safety and traffic rules needs to be inculcated from young. Many Singaporeans don't even know how to keep left when walking on foot paths or shared paths and even like to walk on bicycle tracks, so LTA really needs to educate the entire population before the try anything too complex like how to ignore red lights. It is probably for this same reason of Singaporeans being poorly educated and poorly civilized that there were many e-scooter related accidents since the new e-scooter riders copied the way that motorist drive and also the inconsiderate manner of not keeping left by pedestrians resulting in mayhem even on shared paths.

I agree that the American style at junctions is one of the worst traffic practices. We do not do that in Hong Kong at all.

Green is green, red is red. No exception on this.
