RUPTLY wrote:The German Bundestag debated and voted on several motions regarding arms exports including submarines to Turkey from Germany, in Berlin, on Friday afternoon.

Katja Keul, a Member of Parliament for the Alliance '90 / The Green Party said:

"In 2009, the federal government permitted the sale of six submarines by the company ThyssenKrupp to Turkey. The production and delivery of these submarines is still taking place."

"In 2009, we dealt with a different Turkey than today," adding "Erdogan, wants to establish a maritime hegemonic power in the region. And what does the federal government do? It delivers the strategically extremely important submarines to Erdogan."

Member of Parliament for The Left Party Sevim Dagdelen stated that:

"the federal government stands as partner to this dark autocrat and his Islamic-fascist coalition in Ankara.''

The motion put forward by the Alliance '90 / The Green Party to stop the export of submarines and weapons was rejected by the support of SPD (Social Democratic Party), CDU/CSU (Christian Democratic Union/ Christian Social Union) and FDP (Free Democratic Party). The AfD abstained from the vote.

"In 2009, the federal government permitted the sale of six submarines by the company ThyssenKrupp to Turkey. The production and delivery of these submarines is still taking place. In 2009, we dealt with a different Turkey than today. Constitutionality and Human Rights have been eliminated. In 2018, Turkey invaded the neighbouring country Syria against international law. Expulsion and ethnic cleansing of the Kurdish population started, which continues to this day."

"In Libya, Turkey continuously broke the UN weapons embargo and sent military aid, troops and Syrian soldiers to Libya. And what is especially dangerous for our national and European security is the maritime escalation strategy of Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea."

"The European Council has utterly condemned the behaviour of Turkey numerous times and expressed its unlimited solidarity with Greece and Cyprus. Nothing of this is coincidental. It is not only about gas. With the national agenda 'Blue homeland,' Erdogan rather wants to establish a maritime hegemonic power in the region. And what does the federal government do? It delivers the strategically extremely important submarines to Erdogan, to enforce exactly this hegemonic power. This is kamikaze in regards to security politics.''

Lothar Maier, Member of Parliament for AfD: "Through the tendency of Erdogan's government the politics, Turkey is turning away from the West more and more and tries to become, what the intelligence service IAP calls a Sunni great power nowadays. If you don't want to support this, you have to ensure to bring the aggressive expansion strategy of this country to a halt, also by showing restraint with new arms exports.''

Lothar Maier, Member of Parliament for AfD: "We already have too many cases, where permitted deliveries were not allowed to be delivered after its production, for example the patrol boats for Saudi-Arabia. This led to a general unpredictability of the German export politics.''

Sevim Dagdelen, Member of Parliament for Leftist Party: "What are the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel from the conservative [and] Foreign Minister Heiko Maas from the socialists doing? They constantly talk about European solidarity, but they support, that the German arms exports to Turkey continue.''

"In the European Union, this federal government side by side with Victor Orban, is preventing a weapons embargo against Erdogan's Turkey. While the USA with the resignation of Trump harshly criticises Turkey, the federal government stands as partner to this dark autocrat and his Islamic-fascist coalition in Ankara.''

"Those who continue to deliver weapons to Turkey, either act irresponsibly or is consciously betting on this partnership with Erdogan for dark, geopolitical motives.''

The CDU and SPD admitted during this debate that new orders for weapons by Turkey should not be honoured.

germans say they are tied because the deal and there is no return [1][1] but looking from the bright side this could be good for Greece if somehow germans can place trackers onboard and in any future escalation at least they can know where are these sub heading!

dont know why Greece is fearful, it needs just to make new deal with Russia or China political or weaponry, if germans are turning them back they could too tho americans are in question also, then other good outcome for Greece would be assembly errors [1] or eventual global economic crisis so this sub.deal will be postponed ...

and maybe this could be motivation for greeks to invest en-masse in vlf technology as safeguarding but also deterrence option [1]
