Potemkin wrote:They probably regard him as a sympathiser of the Azov Battalion, given that he was an 'embedded' journalist with them for so long. He certainly hasn't done himself any favours by doing that, but he doesn't seem to have fought for them; he certainly doesn't look the type to be a neo-Nazi mercenary. Lol.

He's definitely not a neo-Nazi mercenary type, but he seems deeply involved in anti-Russia or anti-Kremlin activities, so maybe it wasn't just Lukashenka being so eager to catch him. In my opinion he and his principality are not so sovereign and autonomous anyway.

Even if an EU national fought in the Azov battalion for the liberation of the Ukraine, that is still not a good enough reason for Belarus and Russia to engage in blatant terrorism against EU civilians.

Moreover, those defending Russia in this forum are directly complicit to the rise of right-wing nationalism in the countries that suffer from Russian aggression.

Supporting the invasion of the Ukraine by Russia and then calling those rallying to its defense as "Nazis" is by definition the most arrogant and disgustingly imperialistic narrative that one can come across.

When a country gets invaded, the right-wing nationalists are the first to pick up arms against the occupiers and nobody in the country cares what their ideologies may be, the only thing that people do and should care about is the fact that these people are ready to die for their country.
