Iran yesterday vowed to take "deterrent military measures" against Iranian Kurds who are waging attacks against the Persian state from camps in northern Iraq.

"Iran will not remain silent over border destabilisation events and will respond in the appropriate time," the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces, Mohammad Pakpour, warned in a statement.

Iran recently targeted Kurdish opposition armed groups stationed in northern Iraq, mostly in areas controlled by the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Pakpour called on the Iraqi government and the Kurdish authorities "not to allow armed terrorist groups to exploit Iraqi lands against Iran," adding that any negligence from the Iraqi side goes against the principle of "good neighbourliness".

"Iran will respond appropriately," the Iranian official reiterated, calling on the residents of the border areas in northern Iraq "to stay away from the militants' headquarters."

Tehran had repeatedly warned that it would take preventive measures if Baghdad did not expel Iranian Kurdish fighters from the Kurdistan region.

This Kurd card in play is the last hurrah for another forever war courtesy of the US military industrial complex. The usual suspects are using the perpetual puppet kurds to agitate Iran, goad it into a response. No doubt many in the establishment are salivating at the prospect of invading Iran and occupying it for 10-20 years-whatever the outcome. Those trillions in tax payer funds won't direct themselves. Those Saudis won't stay fat and happy on their own, Israel certainly won't just sit around without inciting its golem to dastardly deeds. I hope Iran can either come up with a nuclear deterrent fast or find a military umbrella in Russia and/or China fast before it is too late for its people.

The primary obstacle right now is the American public, fresh off a defeat in Afghanistan. But the sheep are easy to herd. This won't last.

You are effectively asking them to lie down and be butchered.

It is easy to say when you are not oppressed meanwhile kurds are basically oppressed in every country they reside. Perhaps Iraq has gotten better but I am not sure.

Well apparently the Kurds don't see a future for themselves if they are oppressed so they join anyone who can help them. During the Cold War it was the Socialist block and now its the US. As much as I see it, it will be anyone else who can help them in the region tomorrow.

It's also easy to see if who could actually protect them from their neighbours.

You are saying something similar to asking the Jews in the 30's Germany to fit in. Look what happened to them?

As a part of an oppressed community myself I do not buy this shit at all.

It didn't take long for you to bring the holocaust, the Jews, and Nazi Germany in this thread somehow, no matter if how much it really belongs here, but it makes a great argument that way anyway.

Do you think you'd have a future as a US proxy, or what?

Trolls talk nonsense to seek joy or cause trouble.

I am not speaking here to seek joy or cause trouble, but to express my anger towards wicked minds.

Well yes, that is the sad story for the Kurds. They might get Soviet/Russian support or US support when it is beneficial to USSR/Russia or US but when push comes to shove, both USSR and US are not really interested in waging a war for Kurdish independence be it against Iraq, Turkey, Syria or Iran. What they are interested in is the Kurds help to wage war on their own opponents be it Saddam, Isis, AQ, Iran and so on.
