Question: Can I Make Legal Threats?

Answer: As expressed in our mission statement, the Politics Forum is intended to promote thoughtful, respectful communication between people from different places and with different views. Threatening any other member of the forum with legal proceedings flies in the face of our mission statement, as it is a most serious kind of threatening and harassing behaviour.

Therefore, threats of legal action/proceedings against any other member of the forum will result in a minimum of an instant Red Card (ban) for violation of forum rule one (for harassment).

In that case, the 'red card' status will not be revoked until such time as the member rescinds their threat entirely. At the sole discretion of the administrators, the ban may be made permanent.

Nobody wishes to use a website where they will be subject to that kind of behaviour. It is extremely bad for the well being of the community, which is the reason we will not provide a platform for it.

A couple of other points worth noting:

  • Posting illegal content on the Politics Forum is a violation of the forum rules. There is no good reason to ever take legal action against any forum member, since by reporting any rules violating material, the moderators will do their best to remove it as soon as possible.

  • As laid out in the terms of use, you understand that by browsing/using PoliticsForum you might be exposed to objectionable, offensive, indecent and otherwise prohibited material. You use the forum at your own discretion and risk.
