Vatican City state is its own country and was founded by Benito Mussolini and his fascist regime. Vatican City state is an absolute monarchy and an absolute theocracy with an infallible Shepherd who makes all the final say so in all matters with the church magisterium, defining infallible dogmas, and Vatican City state is a one-party State and a one religion state. There is fascist propaganda everywhere glorifying The Sovereign pontiff who is treated like a rock star everywhere he goes. Vatican City state is the epitome of fascist .
there is also very little crime there and almost everybody is one in mind, Heart , and will, meaning there's very little division and everyone supports the regime. There is unity and everyone works together. That is precisely the goal of fascism which is why the fascist symbol is a symbol of unity where all rods are bound, fastened together to form an Unbreakable axe.

Image Vatican City state is an absolute monarchy and theocracy with a Shepherd who defines infallible dogmas EX cathedra and a magisterium which settles all disputes about faith and morals and the shepherd declares and defines binding dogmas that everyone must obey. It is not a democracy and more than 99.9% of Catholics do not get to vote for who their Pope is. When Mussolini became prime minister with nobody voting for him in a first world democracy , Pope Pius XI said , " God has given us Mussolini , he is the man of Providence " .

This is very atypical for you. Most of the time you write a careful analysis rather than posting a recycled phrase.

I am an agnostic, but I grew up in a Catholic household. Yes, the Church has enormous flaws, but that is simply the human condition. The pedophilia was off the charts and that is expected when you have a system that provides fertile ground for that sort of activity. However, at the end of the day pedophilia is not based on a belief system on God or religion. Pedophilia is a variant, no different than homosexuality, transgenderism, bisexuality, etc. The main difference is that pedophilia is 100% unacceptable. The Church was corrupt for the cover up.

As for the homophobia: You confused the official religious line based on Leviticus from what really happens. Over the centuries the Church offered a sanctuary to closet homosexual men. Remember up until very recently homosexual men were in the closet. Up until recently men were expected to marry, form a home, and have children. This is what closet homosexuals had to do in the old days. If a homosexual man became a priest then he did not have to explain why he never married or had a relationship with a woman. As a result of this the priesthood always had a high density of homosexual men. The priesthood was the solution for many homosexual men. What a paradox!

Lastly, the Catholic Church remains one of the most important factors in the history of Western Civilization. Just visit any European city and tour the old town.

I'm also agnostic. I have no problem with Christianity, or most Christians. I think there's a lot of churches in many different Christian sects that go too far, the most being the Catholic Church. It's filled with a lot of BS. Priests weren't allowed to get married mostly in order to keep the money inside the church. Wives and children are expensive.

Anyways, they do lots of good but they also suck.

Religion is on its way out. The big question is: What is replacing religion? Most people do not have your insight. Many are quite prone to follow other non-deistic movements as a pseudo-religion. We have quite a few like that in this forum. I will not mention names, but they are as recalcitrant as any evangelical fundamentalist.

Furthermore, religion served a purpose in the evolution of MANKIND. Once religion is gone many will unknowingly try to replace it with something that seems more enlightening but it could very well be worse.

Exactly.

My grandfather always said religion keeps us from being animals.

There's also something very comforting about believing and praying to God. It gives people hope. Believing in magic is wonderful in many ways, like believing in Santa Claus as a child. I used to believe in God, I often wish I still believed, but I can't unlearn what I've learned. This is why I don't begrudge people who are religious, unless their beliefs are really terrible and interfere with other people's rights.

I am agnostic, but I can see God as a fantasy. It is like watching a movie. We know is make believe, but it serves a purpose. And surprisingly it fulfills whatever a real God was supposed to do. Richard Dawkins talks about this. He enjoys the rituals of religion.

Religion allowed the small tribes (based on kinship) to grow much larger (based on a same belief system). BTW, many atheists enjoy touring the Vatican, ha ha.

Yes, but don't they hold views that some other people disagree with? I think it's because religion, like Fascism, are collectivist constructs. Throughout history we have seen people competing for the same power, whether it's through a jealous God or tedious ideologues that basically amount to the same thing.

Very true, and he was heavily involved in Socialist propaganda in his youth. Fascism in Europe was just a variation of a theme, and because it's so alike it's an area of history that has been thoroughly misrepresented by its competition.
