There was no civil war waged against the Russian population in Crimea whatsoever. There was a civil war waged against Albanians (90% of the population) in Kosovo however.

Ter wrote:Anyway, no declarations or motions are going to change the facts on the ground.

The facts that include the majority of the world not recognizing this Trumpian/Nethanyahu move that's basically a publicity stunt for Israeli elections?

The facts on the ground that include the Syrian army in control of some of the Golan currently and their repeated intention of taking back their land just as they have been doing repeatedly with other Syrian territory while a lot of the world was making war on their country?

The facts of people living there saying they refuse zionist lebensraum?

I am going to drink a glass of excellent Golan wine to your health, @skinster

Thanks. Let me know what it tastes like, I've not heard of this one but it sounds like something I'd enjoy.

They are the opposite rather than similar, by the way, Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights is just land grab.
Syria used the heights to shoot artillery and mortars into Israel and attacked during the wars of 1967 and 1973.
As mentioned earlier, the Golan was offered back in return for a peace treaty but the offer was rebuffed.
So to just call it a land grab is very one - sided.

Israel offered to give back Syrian land to Syria for peace, which the Syrians refused, I don't see how this changes the fact that Israel annexes land that has never been theirs, which is land grab.

Truthteller wrote:Israel is western colonialism in the middle east, not surprised that the US has recognized Golan heights as part of Israel

No Israel is Infidel liberation of part of the Middle East from Muslim terrorist occupation. It is the Arabian Muslims that were the alien invaders. There was huge trade and technological, cultural religious, military and diplomatic interchanges, between the Middle East, Asia minor, North Africa, Greece and Southern Europe for thousands of years before the (proto) Muslim invasions. The Muslims would not have stopped at the Pyrenees, Southern Italy, Vienna or the Ukraine if they had not been thrown back by the most heroic and determined resistance.

For 1400 years Muslims have sown the wind, to paraphrase Churchill, now its time for them to reap the whirlwind.

Infidel liberation? there was no 'Muslim terrorist occupation' in Palestine, the people there are natives that converted to Islam. Don't confuse Muslim with Arab, the majority of Muslims are not Arab. It's funny that you quote Churchill who carried out numerous genocides such as the man-made famine in Bengal which killed millions while calling Muslims terrorists.

The Albanian KLA committed acts of terrorism against Yugoslavian/Serbian authorities and people. At the time they committed those atrocities they had more human and political rights in Serbia than any other minority in Europe and in fact they had more human and political rights than the Welsh, Scottish and N. Irish people in the UK even have at the present day. Kossovar Albanians aside from enjoying Albanian schools, language, education, signs, police and having more autonomy than the aforementioned, they also had a seat at the Yugoslavian table on par with the other republics.

Strobe Talbott, the Deputy Secretary of State under President Clinton and the leading U.S. negotiator during the war, had written in his foreword to John Norris' 2005 book Collision Course: NATO, Russia, and Kosovo that "the real purpose of the war had nothing to do with concern for Kosovar Albanians", but rather "It was because Serbia was not carrying out the required social and economic reforms" meaning it was the last corner of Europe which had not subordinated itself to the US-run neoliberal policies

Ter wrote:Chechnya was officially a part of Russia and the war was a repression of secessionists.
As cruel and deadly as it was, in that sense it is not part of the precedents mentioned

Because the others were secessionists who were successful and had international powers backing them politically if nothing else.
