Wow! I guess the third amendment has finally been used after over 200 years! I guess we should thank the founding fathers for this one! Senator Mike Lee's Twitter feed has been talking about how the mayor D.C. is using the third amendment of the constitution to kick National Guard troops out of their hotel rooms after Trump's use of force on peaceful protestors (I can't see my own post from twitter here on PoFo after posting it but I was on Twitter and saw the tweet given that "Third Amendment" was trending):

Those here on PoFo who are not familiar with the U.S. constitution third amendment, it reads:

"No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

@Godstud

I think that would be hilarious Godstud. I respect our soldiers but on the same token there was no need for Trump to have ordered the use of force for a photo op trying to show he has power over everybody like a tyrant.

A man like Trump given his mental health and HUGE insecurities has no business being President. He is going to have to learn people have a right to criticize him and to engage in peaceful protest and not to take it so personal. But he shouldn't be there as President in the first place given his mental health (narcissistic personality disorder).

@Godstud

Here check this CNN article that was posted 12 to 9 hours prior to the above Twitter tweet:

Veronica Stracqualursi and Nicky Robertson of CNN wrote:Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser said she wants out-of-state military troops out of the nation's capital after they were called in to handle the protests over the death of George Floyd.

"The very first thing is we want the military -- we want troops from out-of-state out of Washington, DC," Bowser said at a press conference Thursday.
In Washington and cities across America, protesters have gathered to demand justice for Floyd, who was killed last week while in custody of the Minneapolis police.

On Monday, the DC National Guard was activated to assist the city's Metropolitan Police Department with the protests and rolled onto the White House complex with military trucks. As of Thursday, more than 4,500 National Guard Members had been deployed to DC -- with several states, including Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah, sending their Guard troops at the request of Defense Secretary Mark Esper.

The only US military personnel operating in the city are National Guard, and no active duty forces have entered the city yet to respond to civil unrest. Unlike state governors, Bowser doesn't have authority over the DC National Guard. The guard operates in Washington under the authority of the Secretary of the Army.

I bet he's wondering what those pesky do-gooder Founding Fathers were smoking when they wrote it. Lol. :lol:

@Potemkin @Beren

I don't know if the senator from Utah in the above tweet is making up stories or not as the main media sources don't appear to exactly picked up on it. They have said the D.C. mayor does want those troops out of D.C. though. However, the main media sources aren't going into precise and exact details of anything she might be up to or what laws she might try to invoke to accomplish those ends.

You would think the senator from Utah, given he is a representative would not exaggerate or lie about such things but then again he is a politician and as we all know, politicians are famous for telling lies. If he is just telling a lie, then my next question is why? Or he could very well be telling the truth but the main media sources just aren't reporting it yet for whatever reasons they might have.

@Godstud that would require a level of strategic thinking I don't think he has. Not unless someone suggested it to him?

His actions as president thus far suggest an impulsive short term moves intended for instant gratification / narcissist supply.

Imo he only appeals to the bone head racist Racist type because they are the only ones simple enough to fall for his crap. If he could con east coast liberals then he would act like a liberal.

The protest were getting out of control and no longer peaceful when the National Guard were called into DC. That is the same for all the states.

Peaceful protests take place all the time in DC. The nations capital is were the majority of people come to peacefully protest and it is allowed as long as it is peaceful.

A couple problems with this. First, a hotel is not a house (Meriam Webster definition: a building that serves as living quarters for one or a few families : HOME). Second, the DC mayor isn’t the owner of the hotel. Beyond the clearly specious constitutional argument, I find the mayor’s excuse that it’s a budgetary issue hard to believe, seeing how the city government had reserved (and therefore paid for) those rooms whether anyone stayed there or not. So the Utah National Guard staying in empty rooms the city was paying for wasn’t costing the city a penny more than it would have otherwise paid.

Indeed, it's a joke. Everyone can see she supports the protests anyway and doesn't want to see the army being used, she could just say so clearly instead of presenting this kind of stuff. She will then see if it pays off electorally when the time comes.

The purpose of her trying to kick the military out of DC, is so there will be less troops for the rioters and would-be revolutionaries to deal with when they try to over-run the White House. Some people are just traitors, is all. Even BLM saw her as a liberal virtue-signaling opportunist, but she knows exactly what she's doing.

@annatar1914

I'll be honest with you annatar, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump is compromised by the Russians. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to discover that due to Trump's business incompetence he was bailed out by Russian oligarchs who are very close to Putin and thus are compromised by Putin and his Russian oligarch friends in Moscow. I think that's a very strong possibility and that Putin and his oligarch friends have strong leverage against Trump. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that turned out to be true. If it did turn out to be true, it would be the first time in our nation's history that a President has been compromised by an adversarial state.

Russia isn't, and need not be, an ''Adversarial State'' in relation to the United States. To think so is a dangerous and lunatic relic of the Cold War, propagated by dangerous and lunatic relics of the Cold War.

Second, Trump isn't tied in with or compromised in any way by the Russians, Oligarchical or otherwise. He is quite comfortable opposing Russia in every way, despite his lame rhetoric about wanting to have better relations. Fact is, Trump's Administration is the most Anti-Russian Administration yet.

You have actually bought into a narrative (along with others) that actually gives the most profoundly Anti-Russian Presidency in US History political cover for Anti-Russian actions. It is highly likely in fact that President Trump himself has bought into a political conspiracy (look up ''Anatoly Golitsyn'') that posits Russia as the center of Communism, that the Soviet Union's collapse was fake. I know that him buying into this insane garbage is possible, because more than a few older Cold War era conservatives I know absolutely believe it like an article of religious faith. He definitely says things like; ''America will never fall to Socialism'', as if Socialism/Communism still existed and isn't as dead as the Dodo. It's possible.

So think about it.

We should thank social promotion and grade inflation that we've got a complete idiot in office that doesn't know what the Third Amendment is about. It was about preventing soldiers from commandeering private houses--like Robert E. Lee's house at Arlington, for example--and quartering troops in people's houses. It's amazing how dumb Democrats have become.
