Putin’s oriental imperialism turns European neighbors into enemies

Putin instructed Kremlin officials to draw up a list of “unfriendly countries.” Although the identity of these “unfriendly countries” has yet to be officially confirmed, Russian media reports citing leaked information suggest the list will be dominated by Russia’s neighbors.

According to a report published by Izvestia newspaper, the nations set to feature on the list of “unfriendly countries” are the United States, Poland, Czechia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ukraine, and Australia. The most striking thing about this group is the fact that five of the ten featured countries share land borders with Russia. Meanwhile, a sixth nation, Czechia, was also until relatively recently part of Moscow’s extended empire.

Why are so many countries with lengthy historic ties to Russia now regarded as hostile by the Kremlin? With Russian troops currently occupying large swathes of Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova, it does not take a genius to work out why members of the post-Soviet neighborhood might be eager to distance themselves from Moscow."

What do you expect?

can a mongol ulus join the Western Clubs?
"he Great Batu Khan, founder of Russian Statehood (Великий хан Батый – основатель Российской государственности), the tome is by Gennady A. Tjundeshev (Haramos), a historian at Khakassia State University (in Asian Russia, where Tatar-Mongols hail from).

Its publication has revived the memory of the times of the "Tartar yoke", when Russia was under Asian rule for more than two centuries, between the 13th and the 15th centuries. It has also inspired some comparisons, especially with President Putin, who was re-elected on 18 March and has acquired the status of tsar and great leader.

The great Batu Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan, who, in 1240, imposed the dominion of the so-called "Golden Horde" on the principalities of ancient Kievan Rus, which disappeared from history as a separate entity.

The Tatars were defeated for the first time in 1380 in the Battle of Kulikovo. Dmitry Donskoj, Prince of Moscow, led the way inspired by Sergius of Radonezh. Eventually, the city of Kyiv (Kiev) was against itself by the 17th century, but Asian domination ended only in 1480 thanks to the great prince Ivan III, father of the ideology of Moscow as the Third Rome. According to Tjundeshev’s interpretation, Russia has never freed itself from the legacy of the Tatar Khans; instead, it has made it the basis of its civilisation and state organisation."

Since when did Moscow go begging for cash from Ukraine, Georgia, Poland or the Baltic midgets? If anyone has cash to hand out in Europe it is Frau Merkel. And her cash to Moscow is not free. Frau Merkel expects returns from Nordstream 2. To listen to the Lithuanian midget Lansbdrgis one would be forgiven the impression Lithuania's Landsbergis is Germany's Chancellor of Exchequer. No, the Baltics and Slavs of Russia's near abroad who have bolted to EU do not control Frau Merkel's purse strings.

To be honest, your peddling of pseudo history to suit your propaganda needs is getting annoying. But in all honesty, it was a missed opportunity under the Clinton and Bush Sr and Jr that Russia was rebuffed too much. There was a chance of closely alligning Russia with the West that is true but both Yugoslav war and then later actions put a stop to that.

If EU and USA tried a bit more in this regard, then Putin might have been a different person and Russia in general could have been a different place along with Ukraine and Belarus. Obviously the Ukranian conflict wouldn't happen then also. History doesn't tolerate IFs though. We got what we got.

We celebrated the end of history at that time and so on. We were wrong. Let us call it a failure of reason and imagination in this regard.

" oil and gas from Russia to the EU be immediately stopped"

Underscores that if such a military build-up were in the future to be transformed into an invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the EU must make clear that the price for such a violation of international law and norms would be severe; insists, therefore, that in such circumstances imports of oil and gas from Russia to the EU be immediately stopped, while Russia should be excluded from the SWIFT payment system, and all assets in the EU of oligarchs close to the Russian authorities and their families in the EU need to be frozen and their visas cancelled;

It does, you are trying to pretend that it doesn't and other pseudo historians are willing to play their part.

There are plenty of pseudo historians in Russia and in other post Soviet republics. I would say, especially many in those places.

And exactly how does the EU immediately halt importation of oil and gas from Russia without crippling its own economy as well? The Resolutions you keep citing are advisory and non binding. It is an extremely difficult step to take. To immediately cut off gas importation from Russia is far from a cost free undertaking as the Baltic Lilliputians may like to believe. When the Bundestag speaks on this then it will be time to listen

"""""The EU relies heavily on imports of gas from Russia, and to a lesser extent oil.

In 2020, it imported from Russia around 156 Bcm of gas and LNG, or 48% of its total imports, according to European Commission data.

It also imported 970,000 b/d of Russian crude, equivalent to around 24% of EU imports, according to the latest EC data from 2019.

Halting imports would likely therefore cause material damage to the EU's own interests. Parliament resolutions are non-binding and advisory in nature

This is precisely what Putin is struggling to prevent. This is the future which the West plans for Russia.

You are crazy to think that I am pro-Russian. But it doesn't mean that I will support pseudo science or stupid ideas just because you and me hold anti-Russia sentiment.

As for your idea about splitting Russia, that scenario is the worst case outcome for Europe and European Union. We must prevent it from happening at all cost. Currently Russia exists as a threat yes but also as a wall from the dangers that lurk beyond. Loosing that wall, would mean that we will have to step up ourselves which will lead Europe and China battling it out for zones of influence and basically having a border between Europe and China somewhere in the Urals.
