Right now as of this post Faizabad, Mazar, Ghazni city, Maimana and Sharana are under siege/surrounded.

That's a wrap. Pack it up boys it's over. One pleasant surprise of all this is the Taliban recruiting and using freed child sex slaves to murder their former rapists working for the afghan government. Hundreds of boys have been recruited and have been killing government police and army commanders who used to run their own rape harems.

Looks pretty similar to this:

Now that the Taliban looks set to retake most of the country, maybe Biden could invite the Soviets to come back in and restore the socialist country that Jimmy Carter destroyed with imported terrorists from the Muslim world?

Or maybe wars are just a way for a handful of America's millionaires to become billionaires?

Crantag wrote:It's a sad situation, in the sense that war is hell.

Yes, and the people of the USA (and its rich allies) seem to like spreading hell to third world countries that can't defend themselves. Spreading ruin, injury, pain and harm.

evil: Causing ruin, injury, or pain; harmful

And then their leaders accuse others of "being evil." No nation has caused more harm in my lifetime than the USA. And Canada has helped it do as much harm as possible.

They're reminding the US of what Americans are meant to actually believe and what that image actually represented.

Freedom from oppression.

@colliric , I don't believe in all that Jeffersonian nonsense, but I sure as hell don't think the Taliban do either.

''Taliban'' means ''Student'' in Arabic, as in student of Islam. Those guys are Islamofascists, and they're simply mocking America, because I can guarantee you that they have infinitely more conscious affinity for the Third Reich, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan than the Allied countries. I've no doubt that someday Hitler, Mussolini, and others will somehow be retroactively made ''honorary Muslims'' by these militants.

I wrote a poem about your post.

If you love someone...

bomb the shit out of their country and overthrow their government.

If they love you back...

you will own all their mineral resources and pipeline contracts.

If they don't...

It's Vietnam Syndrome times eleven

No, of course, not.

Unless, by 'education' you meant their 'education' in being bombed and shot by Americans. And if by 'belief system', you meant the 'belief system' of being invaded and occupied by a hostile foreign power.

Its Saigon 2.0 at this point. There is a complete collapse of the ANA with videos of them just pulling everyone out in convoys. Kabul probably does not have too much longer. Certainly not 90 days. Try <30 days. Rumours abound that Taliban will time their Kabul offensive for 9/11 and attempt to capture it on the day thereby cementing a new national holiday on 9/11.

Collapse is definitely the word for it. It is almost historic. I dont know of any other 300,000 size army that caved with such speed. Herat is gone. Kandahar is gone. Who knows, by the time we wake up tomorrow it will be to news that Mazar i Sharif is fallen.

There is no reason the Taliban should not be on t he outskirts of Kabul before the end of August.

I dont think Senile Joe is looking forward to 9/11 this year. The Taliban upended everything!

@Crantag ;

I mean both their Islamofascist training and the recent invasions and occupations. It may seem that I admire them, but I'm here to tell you, that they're no Angels.

Still a (high likelihood) rumour but allegedly US left behind almost 10 billion in USD stacks/bills lying around in a Kabul Bank. My guess is they're sending troops to collect it.

-13 provincial capitals in 8 days including 2 of the 3 largest cities in Afghanistan in a single day.

-The Taliban are still on the attack tonight with their NVG wearing, thermal scope using commando's. 7 towns under assault. Most of Afghanistan that is left are villages, small towns and a handful of mid-larger sized towns. The final big city is Kabul.

No, it doesn't seem like you admire them at all.

I guess I misunderstood you.

I had thought you said, "their education made them hate Americans".

I see you were making a larger point.

I think the UK defence secretary is late for the party. Did I read this right, Afghanistan is heading for civil war? It has been in a state of civil war since the Afghanistan government was formed. What is occurring now is the changing of the guard. And the question is can the government retain Kabul. The rest of Afghanistan seems destined to fall. :hmm:

Afghanistan had a civil war in the 1990s, which the Taliban won. Then 9/11 happened, and the West invaded Afghanistan, which restarted the civil war. It has been ongoing ever since then, for the past twenty years. Wtf is the Defence Secretary smoking? :eh:

It looks to me more like the end of the civil war, rather than the beginning of one.

Precisely. If one side wins an overwhelming victory, then this usually ends a civil war rather than starting one. If this is the intellectual calibre of our lords and masters, then no wonder the Taliban have beaten them.

What are you smoking?

The Taliban never won. Afghanistan was in a state of civil war throughout the 90s.

The Taliban had won enough territory to be the de facto government of Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance were a nuisance, and part of the deal between Al Qaeda and the Taliban was that they would let Al Qaeda use Afghanistan as a safe haven and in return Al Qaeda would assassinate the leader of the Northern Alliance for them. This assassination happened on 9/11, of course, just before the Twin Towers were hit. The Taliban had won and the Northern Alliance were finished, until the Americans stepped in as a consequence of 9/11.
