No, it’s not. Sanctions are just virtue-signalling. A blockade is an act of war. And it’s an act of war precisely because it is serious. If you blockade a nation or a region, then people will begin to starve to death in very short order. If the West blockaded Kaliningrad, then it would effectively be declaring war against Russia, and this would no longer be just a proxy war. Which is precisely why it won’t happen.

Fair enough. I'm for a blockage, sanctions, and direct military action against Russia in Ukraine and SYria.

You're basing your long term strategy on emotion then. You are therefore no longer capable of sound judgement regarding this matter.

This would mean nuclear winter! Even my homeland "Bosnia" is not worth it!

USA and Russia have the power for Armaggedon, but power means also responsibility... The hole mankind can die because of this two nations...

First off I'm not opposed to sanctions in all circumstances, just this sanctions are a panacea pathology. For example the oil sanctions applied against Japan by Roosevelt were very effective. Sea blockading Kaliningrad most certainly could be considered an act of war, but given that we are in a proxy war with Russia, regardless of whether we are really trying to win, land blockading Kaliningrad not only seems reasonable to me, but should be a no brainer.

Now war as I've said before, is unpredictable. unlike so many others I've refrained from making medium or long term predictions about outcomes. Maybe the Russian offensive will grind to a halt this week and in August Ukraine will start making spectacular advances. Maybe not in August, maybe in September or perhaps October. But we should not base our policy on these endless promises of Ukrainian victories. The Russians have not only captured the Severodonets salient, they have been making modest advances in front of Kharkov. They are putting pressure along the Eastern Donets front and the southern and Kherson fronts are stable.

I doubt Russia wants a ceasefire at the moment, but just maybe it does, in which case we should therefore accept a ceasefire along the current occupation lines and an eventual peace treaty which accepts those borders and lifts the sanctions in return for Russia's acceptance of the complete sovereignty of the reminder of Ukraine, the legitimacy and inviolability of Ukraine's new borders and the right of Ukraine to become a member of the EU and member of NATO.

I wonder if it has something to do with Kant that Rich finds it so imperative to take back Königsberg (what Kaliningrad? :eh: ) from Russia for Germany, by some modern Teutonic knights perhaps. The guy's remains just can't rest in so-called Russian soil, it's a blasphemy! Europe lost its integrity when East Prussia ceased to exist and "Kaliningrad" was established in its place.

Never going to happen. Neutral ukraine is all Russia will accept, with no possibility of NATO or EU and no coastal boundaries because Odessa in Russia is deemed Russian clay.

If US keeps pushing then expect Ukraine to cease to exist in its entirety.

The biggest most intense battles of the war will occur right now in Donbass where the concentration of infrastructure and urbanization is highest.

You should really find better sources about what's going on in this war.

In the same way that ever promised great Ukrainian counter offensives keep failing to happen so does the great Russian break thorough promised by the Russian fanbois. Aside from the first week of the war, the Russian campaign has been characterised by grinding slow progress, punctured by the odd humiliation like the sinking of the Moskva and the loss of Snake Island. The Liberal media may be grossly overplaying the loss of Snake Island to cover for the abandonment of the Severo-donets salient but its still a significant set back. There is some truth to the jibe that Putin is doing a very good job at demilitarising Russia.

Wars have strong tendencies to unpredictability and instability (in the mathematical / systems theory sense of the word). The western focus on the Western front in WWI has given a false perspective of the stability of the First World War, when in reality it was conflict with many twists and turns. Smaller powers repeatedly misjudging their entries into the war, when the outcome seemed assured. But after the withdrawal from Kiev and Sumy this conflict has shown remarkably stability. Every time it seems that Russian offensive power has completely exhausted itself, they start advancing again and every time it appears like the Russians might finally be getting some real momentum their offensives promptly stall.

At the current rate of progress it will take a long time just to capture the whole of Donets oblast let alone capture Odessa and link up with Tranistria.

That ammo would have been used to kill Ukrainians and destroy their cities. How sick do you have to be to NOT celebrate its destruction?

The fact that Igor is allowed to post at all is something of a minor miracle all things considered, while a genuine Russia hater like Litwin is an even greater poster of " war porn".

I don't think people getting blown up is " beautiful ". And although I am unapologetically pro Russian, there should be limits to this operation, and no doubt that there will be. I am no admirer of Petrine Imperialism. Poland and Hungary will likely get in on the act though, I'm pretty sure. That is if they get permission first from Berlin.

Only some hated Russia before february 2022, this has.. changed.
Regarding insanity and genuine sickness Antunoff is far ahead of all here. He gets a wargasm for every child being killed by his and your beloved russians.

Biased against an aggressive war of conquest and destruction. Indeed, I'm fucking biased, as every other decent person here is.
