To be fair, I will disregard ethics or reason when I find it necessary to deal with (a.k.a. dispose of) some apparently strong bully who disregards ethics and reason himself.

When you're a permanent "good guy," ethics and logic are totally unnecessary.

In Hollywood films, the cowboys often kill hundreds of bad guys. And they rarely contemplate the ethics of what they are doing because... they don't have to.

They are "the good guys" and their white hats and happy soundtrack moments that accompany their exploits... allow them to practice genocide and racism.
